Avenger From Another World

"A massacre incident in a friendly neighbourhood, with 3 people found dead in their own house, leaving only the elder son alive, who kept saying it was the doing of a monster, the police suspect he made out the story and maybe the one who killed them, who are his family members. This is the CCA morning news, good morning, good to be with you all, I am..."

Xiao was looking at the news channel showing at the TV, which was at the far end from his place, a prison cell.

Time and date has slowly become irrelevant for Xiao as he spent most of his time going back and forth between a different prison cell and the court.

Since Xiao's family members were all dead, besides his grandparents who lived in the countryside, no one has helped him to prove his innocence during the court session. And since Xiao was just a normal high school kid who never gets into trouble before, not to mention a murder case, he never knows what's the procedure or ways to protect himself in this situation.

The public was enraged, especially people from his school, the teachers, the students, they were cursing and swearing Xiao when he attended any one of the court session.

"You fiend! How can you kill your own family?! How can you take Kang away from us?!"

"We all knew you were jealous of Kang, that's why you kill him! You even kill your parents!"

"Put him a death penalty! He should not be in this world! Let justice be done!"

"Kill him! Kill him! Kill him!"

Those were the words Xiao has been hearing ever since, from the public, from one of the three beauty in his school during one of the court session and even from the guardsman outside his prison cell.

And finally, after endless days of going back and forth the court and the prison cell, the judge had announce that Xiao was found guilty and was sentenced to death.

Two weeks time left before Xiao meets his end, but Xiao did not care, he was already half-broken in both soul and mind, hope was lost and the truth has been trampled over.

It was another night, Xiao was in his prison cell, and for some reason, no guardsman was around, maybe they think the security camera will be efficient enough to keep a lookout for him.

So Xiao was all alone, waiting for the day to meet his death while murmuring something to himself.

"This is wrong, this is all wrong, can't they see that this is madness? Why? Why is this happening to me? "Or did I do it? Did I lost my freaking mind and killed my own family? And there was no monster to begin with, it was a hallucination, I ripped off Kang, mom and dad hearts and....and what? I see no reason at all on why I want to kill them, damn it!"

Furious, disappointed, fear and despair, these were the emotions Xiao experienced ever since he came out from his house.

"The monster, if only I can find that monster, I can prove my innocence, but....."

No one is going to help Xiao to find the monster as no one ever believes in Xiao's story, to begin with, he has no one else to count on to, the people he once called friends have now become completely stranger, or worse, his enemies.

"It's over, I survived from the monster just to get a murderer charged and a death sentences, God sure love how to joke around with people's lives. Hahahaha!!"

Laughter echoed in Xiao's cold prison cell as he can't do anything regarding his fate but to laugh, like a madman, like a man who has lost everything.

Tired of laughing, Xiao laid down on the cold cement floor, and stares at the empty ceiling while his mind was in a blank.

"Hey! Hey you! The one that is lying on the ground, hey, hey."

Without anyone expected, a male voice was heard, coming from the outside of Xiao's prison cell. Xiao got shocked by the sudden voice as he remembered this is not the voice of the guardsman, so he traces the source of voice until his eye stopped at the shadow figure,

"Hello? Is someone there?"

Xiao tries to called out the shadowy figure as he can't see it since it was already midnight, and the shadowy figure was standing away from the light bub.

Right away Xiao called it out, the shadowy figure immediately steps into the light bub spots and reveal itself. It was a man wearing an old shabby business suit in navy colour, without the ties. The man has a messy long grey hair which the hair length was around his neck. What made Xiao wary about this man was his face and expression, his face was skinny like he had malnutrition, the constant grinning which displays his yellowish teeth clearly, and the most disturbing part was his eyes, they were so big that they could fall off from his eye socket anytime, it's like he was forcing them to open as widely as they can.

"Yes me! Yes me! I am the one who was calling you! Hehe."

The unknown man replied to Xiao while dancing his way towards Xiao, and ending his sentences with disturbing giggling.

"Oh, my, oh my, how rude of me to forget my manners, this average bystander me, goes by the name of Lars, please to meet you, may I know your name? Hehe."

Before Xiao even has the time to react to this unknown man, he suddenly burst out a bow and introduce himself as Lars to Xiao. Xiao took a step back immediately the moment he meets the eyes of this man who called himself Lars because what Xiao saw was the very embodiment of the abyss, it was hollow, it was dark, and it made Xiao felt uncomfortable the longer he stares at it.

"Xiao, call me Xiao."

Xiao looked away from Lars's eyes while introducing himself.

Lars did not care for Xiao's action as he dances around while taking out a key from his pocket and unlocked the prison cell.

(What?! How did he get the key?! Who the hell is this Lars?!)

Xiao was dumbstruck by Lars action as he just stood still looking at Lars cheerfully dances his way into Xiao's prison cell.

"Oh my, oh my, Xiao, right? Hmm, whatever, do you what is happening right now? Like why are you stuck in this situation?"

"What? What do you... You mean you know my situation? About the monster and my family?"

Surprise by Lars's word, Xiao lean forward to Lars and looked at him with intense interest.

"Oh no, please stop staring at me, I am just a shy boy here. Hehe."

Lars covered his face, expressing that he was feeling shy, but the big eyes and the grinning remain.

"They said you killed your own family, that you are a madman, isn't t it true? is true, right? right? right?"

"IS NOT ME! NOT ME! I KILL NOTHING!"

Lars question Xiao in a playful-tone and purposely pestering Xiao to agree on what he was saying, which made Xiao burst out of annoyance and denied Lars words.

"Now now, quite down, look at me, shhh..."

Lars put one of his match-like fingers on his mouth and made a shusher sound, asking Xiao to quiet down.

"Right, sorry."

Xiao settled down, for Lars action has made him both confused and annoyed. Before Xiao got the chance to speak, Lars cut his question and speaks first.

"Now then, let's talk about this monster, shall we? Wanna know where did the monster come from? wanna know why it killed your baby bro, Papa and Mama? OH! SUCH SORROW! SUCH SADNESS!

YOU POOR CHILD! POOR POOR CHILD!

It was out of nowhere that Lars started crying while he was talking, his eyes was bawling tears as he screams out from his lung like a heart-broken man.

Xiao was once again, dumbstruck by Lars outburst.

"Do you want to know? You want to know right? I can see it in your eye craving to know, hehe! this is so much fun!"

Like a snap of a finger, Lars had stopped crying completely, and his expression had changed from sorrow to jolly.

(What the hell is wrong with this guy? His mood change is way off the chart, and his crazy speech pattern....is he okay in the mind?)

Xiao was getting more and more annoyed by Lars, both his lunatic personality and crazy speech pattern has never been encountered by Xiao before. And the little giggling every time Lars ended his sentences has started to irritate Xiao.

"Alright, I'm gonna tell you now, I mean right now, and you will listen, you MUST listen because this is very important! And you have to do it, you got to do it, no matter what, you got to, you got to....."

"I got to what?"

Getting impatience and annoyed by Lars speech pattern, Xiao rudely direct Lars to cut to the chase.

"Replace your brother."

"What?"

"Replace, your, brother."

Lars repeated his answer, but this time, he spoke one word at a time to Xiao.

"I'm sorry, I don't get what you mean, what do you mean by replacing my brother? As in his identity or what?"

Confused by Lars answer, Xiao tried to question Lars back regarding on the answer.

"Oh yes, oh yes, how silly little me, hehe, I forgot to tell you your precious brother true identity, silly me, silly me. Hehe."

Lars stopped talking for a moment, and after that, he spoke:

"Your brother, he was a Light hero candidate."

"A what?!"

Xiao never expected this kind of answer from Lars, as he reflectively asked Lars back to confirm what he had just heard.

"You want me to repeat? Okay, he was a Light Hero candidate, and you, are going to replace him. Hehe."
