Aztec Eternals

Chapter 289 Life and Death

The scorching sun cast light, the bonfire lit up smoke, and the priest blew the bone horn. The tribal leaders looked at the two regiment leaders by the firepit with burning eyes, and shouted excitedly.

Giova and Nelpa stood facing each other with batons in their hands. According to the tradition of the tribe, neither of them had a shield, and the victory or defeat was only a moment away. Giova raised his baton forward, slightly retracted his right arm, and assumed a defensive posture.

"Come on, Nerpa, attack as much as you want! Just like when I trained you in martial arts when you were a child!" Hearing this, Nerpa's eyes flashed. There is an eight-year age difference between the two. They are both descendants of the gods in the mountain city. In fact, they have known each other since childhood and have fought side by side many times. Nelpa shook his head vigorously and said in a deep voice.

"Giova, thank you for your teaching back then, my martial arts have surpassed yours! You were once my respected elder brother, but now, you are wrong!"

After speaking, Nelpa's expression became firm. He took small steps, raised his baton obliquely, and slowly approached Giova, and then suddenly stepped forward and slashed diagonally!

Faced with this powerful blow, Giova had long been prepared. He took a quick step back, and then lightly swung his baton to block, making the sound of "boom". As soon as the weapons of the two touched, Nelpa immediately moved to the left, changed his position, swung his baton ferociously, and struck again!

Giova frowned slightly, and stepped back to block again. Nelpa is in his early thirties and is at the peak of his physical fitness. His movements are extremely fast and powerful, and his combat skills are not the same, even fiercer! He is like a dancing butterfly, constantly flying around Giova, every time he approaches, it is a blow aimed at the vital point!

The physical strength of the two was exhausted rapidly, Giova's brows became more and more wrinkled, and the blocking movements became more and more difficult. He was forced to keep moving backwards, and soon came to the flames of the firepit, and there was no way back! Seeing this, Nelpa's eyes lit up, and a triumphant smile appeared on his face, which soon turned into a faint sadness.

"Giova, my brother. You are old, you are going wrong, let me see you on your way! Roar!"

Nelpa let out a dull growl, like a roaring beast. He strode forward, no longer staying strong on his feet, and rushed within two steps of Giova. Then, he made a swift vertical chop first, causing the opponent's stick to be lifted up, then turned the stick, held it with both hands, and drew a clever arc, sending out a deadly horizontal cut towards the opponent's exposed waist and abdomen!

"it's over!"

Giova's frown suddenly unfolded and turned into an indifferent smile. He whispered, holding the stick in both hands, making the exact same movement, and slashing across the opponent's chest and neck with all his strength.

"Ancestor God!"

The tribal leaders in the venue suddenly exclaimed. The two regiment leaders cut at each other's vitals at the same time, do they want to die together?

"Dang!"

The slashing stick successfully cut through the cotton robe and the surface of the cotton armor, and then suddenly stopped, making a sharp metal clashing sound!

"What? This!"

Nelpa's confident expression froze instantly. He hit the opponent's vitals first, but he slashed on the solid metal, unable to break through the opponent's armor at all, causing real damage!

"Roar!"

Giova groaned in pain, but his attack did not deform, and he was still calm and powerful, hitting the vital point directly.

The baton arrived in an instant, Nerpa's movements were exhausted, and there was no time to dodge. He tried his best, turned slightly sideways, and then felt a sharp pain in his chest.

"ah!"

Giova cut through the cotton armor, and once he succeeded, he did not give his opponent any chance to comeback. He stepped forward again, pulled out the copper ax at his waist with his left hand, and mercilessly chopped at Nerpa's neck!

"Ugh poof."

Blood gushed out instantly, splashing Giova's head and face, making his world bright red. Nelpa only uttered half a scream before suddenly losing strength. He was like a fish maw that was punctured in an instant, spraying blood like this, and fell limply to the ground.

Giova quickly took two steps back, and quickly wiped the warmth splashed into his eyes with his cuff. Then, staring at the motionless Nerpa, he walked forward slowly, holding the weapon again.

Nelpa opened his eyes wide, lying quietly on the ground, looking at the deep sky. His mouth murmured open and closed, but there was no sound, only the whisper of blood flowing. Giova took a look, then carefully squatted down and put his ear to Nerpa's mouth.

".Wa.You.Wrong."

Nelpa's eyes burst into the last light. He tried his best to open his mouth, but he could only let out an imperceptible sob. As soon as Giova tried to distinguish the three words, the whimpering sound disappeared completely in the wind.

Giova lowered his eyes, reached out his hand, and closed Nerpa's wide eyes. Some past events surfaced in his mind, and he pressed them down hard. After a long while, he spoke in a low voice to his old friend who could no longer hear him.

"The ups and downs of this chaotic world are like muddy fruit wine. This mountain city is vague, but Nerpa is the residue of wine making. If you and I raise our glasses, there is no right or wrong? It's only until death."

Giova finished speaking in a low voice, closed his eyes and took a few breaths in silence, as if praying silently. Soon, the shouts of the tribal leaders resounded fiercely, and the boiling sound waves were like waves, lifting him layer by layer to the height he longed for!

"The leader of the mountain city!"

"Chief of the Otomi!"

"Bird Shooter, King of Bird People!"

Hearing the cheers of the crowd, Giova slowly got up with a happy smile on his face. In the traditional mythology, the ancestors of the Otomi people were hunters in the north of the plateau, and the meaning of Otomi Otomi is "bird shooter". They settled in the towering mountain city, and also obtained a certain divinity from the divine bird in the sky.

"Ancestral witness! The leader of the ancestral land of the mountain city, the heir to the ancestral scepter, is the god-born nobleman of the mountain city, Giova!"

An old female voice sounded loudly, announcing the end of the election. Everyone's eyes were focused on the standing new speaker, and no one paid any attention to the blood-stained corpse lying down. Giova strode forward and took over the scepter of the ancestor's inheritance from the wife of the former leader, and the cheers broke out again.

Giova looked around and walked towards the east of the venue. He came to Xiulot, knelt down on one knee slowly, raised the scepter with both hands, and bowed his head respectfully.

"Your Highness, I dedicate the glory of the Otomi to you, to the supreme king, to the sun of the Otomi!"

The venue was suddenly quiet, and the leaders looked at each other in blank dismay. This was a sacred ceremony of allegiance.

Under the wolf flag, Xiulot smiled with satisfaction. He took Giova's scepter, shook the opponent's hair vigorously, and returned the scepter to Giova. Then, he took off the sun talisman around his neck, and put it on Giova's neck in front of everyone.

"The supreme god protects you! Giova, the great alliance witnesses everything. From today, you are the lord of Ottopan, the leader of the Otomi people!"

Giova stood up and turned to the crowd in the hall. He stood beside the king, holding the ancestral scepter high in one hand, and holding the sun amulet around his neck tightly with the other. Seeing this historic scene, the tribal leaders lost their voices for a moment, and suddenly burst into warm cheers.

"The lord of the Mexica Alliance, the leader of the Otomi people!"

The eyes of the priest of Sakar burned with fire. He passed Nerpa's cold body without glancing at it. Under the watchful eyes of everyone, the Priest of Chaos walked up to Giova, shouting angrily.

"Giova, as the military leader of the tribe, you have converted to the Mexica god of war!"

"Priest Saka, the God of War is also our god, protecting the Otomi people."

Giova narrowed his eyes and replied calmly.

"This is blatant betrayal! Under the leadership of you and Oort, the Otomi people are about to go astray and be abandoned by the ancestor gods!"

Saka growled, looked at the tribal leaders present, and cursed loudly.

"How can you not pay the price for taking refuge in the greedy Mexica? Don't you feel ashamed to abandon the belief in the ancestor gods in front of the graves of your ancestors?!"

Hearing this, many tribal leaders turned their heads sideways, unwilling to meet Saka's eyes, obviously feeling guilty. Seeing this scene, Shulot frowned slightly, and quietly patted Giova on the shoulder.

"Saka, get out of the mountain city, you are the one who betrayed the tribe!"

Giova held up his scepter and yelled sharply.

"Nerpa just left a last word before he died, and confessed to me!"

"He said, the reason why you are an enemy of the Mexica and refuse the military aid of the Union is because you have already colluded with the dog-born in the north, made a knee-jerk contract, and abandoned the land of Palms State! Everything you have done now , are all for the sake of power, and don't take the future of the Otomi people into their hearts at all!"

Hearing this, the tribal leaders all changed their colors. Some of them remained silent, while others looked skeptical, looking at the respected priest of Saka together.

"What? What did you say?!"

Hearing this accusation, Saka was shocked and his eyes were red.

"This is utter slander!"

"Saka, the new leader of the mountain city has been elected! Although you are a noble Priest of Chaos, the priests of the mountain city do not welcome you. Please leave immediately and return to your family's fiefdom! A truly noble priest should lead the warriors to Go to the front line in the north, and fight against the savage dog-born, instead of creating civil strife in the ancestral land!"

Oort raised his scepter and stepped forward. He quietly watched Saka's red eyes, and Saka stared at him closely. After a while, Saka looked at the expressions of the surrounding tribal leaders and gritted his teeth.

"Oort, you are wrong! The time controlled by the ancestor god will prove everything, we will definitely see you again!"

After finishing speaking, Saka took dozens of direct temple priests and hundreds of loyal family warriors to the outside of the city in desperation.

Oort looked at Shulot, and the king nodded affirmatively. Five hundred barbarian mercenaries had already ambushed in the forest outside the city, and three hundred jaguar warriors were in charge of finishing.

The old priest looked at Giova again, who smiled knowingly.

"Recall the scout team outside the city. Warriors, let's rejoice with the whole city tonight!"

Oort finally looked at the backs of Saka and the priests, and sighed heavily.

"Saka, we will see you again in the Kingdom of God!"
