Banished Prince Charming

Chapter 82 - Smells Like Callery Pear Blossoms

"Would there be anything you need to clear from the house before it's going to be taken apart?" Heather asked as the crowd thinned out and the almost empty keg of wine was set aside since the dredges might have some residue in them.

The musicians had cleared their instruments and handed it to Ben and stored it inside a shed near the enclosure. Even through the merriment, the musicians do have their share of wine and meat as they took an intermittent break to refresh themselves.

"Not really, just my knapsack, my old tattered cloak, coin pouch, woven mat and the sunshade screen. Ah... Along with the 4 flags, crest and longsword. How could I possibly leave it here...!"

"Alright, I will help you to clear those that I could carry. You could put the coin pouch and flags inside the knapsack along with your old smelly cloak. Then you carry the crest and longsword while I carry the rest."

Heather suggested as she stood up and cleared the items while Jack helped to carry the study table and bench, and Eagle carried back the whole display stand that holds all the journals and writing materials.

The house was empty now and they made their way slowly down to the other side of the riverbank and chose an empty house next to the path. The house they chose was beside the pioneers so they are back with familiar faces again.

The horses were still in their paddocks but were untethered so in case if anything, they could bolt out of their spot. During this time, pythons and boas would be a nuisance while Sir Blackie stayed behind in his usual spot to give ample warning to the citizens on any signs of danger.

Soon, these horses would be placed temporarily near the stores that lined the courtyard as it would be demolished prior to the falling of the trees. The temporary paddocks would actually be the structure of a house but with an open front, the house would still be on stilts and skids and would be lined with hay.

At the meantime, if the temporary paddocks were being damaged, it would be turned into a storage shed of equal size, unlike the one that was built like a cruck house. Soon, everything would be improved, not only the lives of the citizens but for other animals and livestock too.

"Heidi, right after today morning, how do you feel being on a royal family as Lady Heather for this moment and Queen when the time comes?" I asked as I lay down on the pillow and my hands behind my head as instated at the thatched roof ahead.

"Mars, I never expected to be Lady or Queen. I was not expected of any forms of royalty or wealth and the only thing I was thinking of right then was survival. Now that I am with you as your wife, all I think and care about is you. Whatever makes you happy, would make me happy as well."

"Of course I am happy, but could I ask a favour from you? Could you stop pinching and punching me? It would leave bruises and here, look... These bruises were from the other day when you punched me in the c.h.e.s.t and this is today, it had already turned black and blue and soon it would be yellowish all around."

"I have to go and see Kayla get some ointment to get rid of these. Never in my life was I tormented by anyone, not even my sister. I think I'm a weak ruler, you see, just a pinch from you tore my skin away..."

"Who says you are weak? Don't you underestimate yourself and don't you be pessimistic about yourself too. Everyone has their weakness and strength. While you show your strength, your wife here would make up for your weakness."

"Crystal did inform me, for every powerful man in the forefront, there is a powerful backing beside him. And that is me. I am your backing and if you happen to be away for any diplomatic duties or whatsoever, I would be in your place to handle matters."

"Thank you for your assurance. I really appreciate it very much. Besides, you were telling me of doing a test. What kind of test is that?"

'Oh, it was Gwen who informed me about pregnancy, about having kids and so on. I have never handled a baby before and I am afraid. Afraid that I may not be able to take care of a child, especially if it is ours. Hmm, Gwen told me, if we are not ready then you should... "

Heather then narrated if what should I do and what she should do and to calculate her ovulation days and determine when she is fertile or not. Kayla also had some medicine to prevent 'accidents' from happening so she could prolong the decision to have a baby and so on.

In other terms contraceptive measures.

So during that conversational piece, a pair of tiny hands were looking for the sash that had tied the breeches together and loosening it up a bit and hushed conversations turned to hushed screams of astonishment and then p.l.e.a.s.u.r.es beyond words.

"Hehe... Heather really learns quite fast. I'm sure His Majesty would be in for a surprise on how deft she had turned into. From this night onwards, I think they would be more romantic and loving when we first fell in love, right Hun?" Crystal whispered into her husband's ears and bit it playfully.

"Oooh... Don't get me started you little wily fox... Grrr... If you start biting, I'm gonna start nipping... Hehehe." Ben replied, his head heavy with wine but his fire within slowly flared up, making his blood travels to his head and to his loins.

"I'm going to be a Billy boat and you are going to be a nanny... Get ready you. Hehehe."

"Quieten down... You will awake the children. You really are a Billy gist and would start to bleat even before it begins. Hehehe."

During that night, waves Callery Pear Blossoms scent wafted around some of the houses where the males and females were actively doing their nocturnal activities once their children had slept peacefully.

Due to the houses that were built on stilts and skids, creaks and shudders could be felt among some of the houses. It seems that the citizens were hard at work to increase the population so they would be able to get their children to move out and start their own families too.

"Sigh... I really need an infirmary and a nurse and a midwife for this village. If I were to perform everything on my own, I think not only I would have one foot in the grave but would have a temporary coffin inside the house too." Kayla lamented to Jack who was dozing off and woke up when he heard his wife called out to him.

"Aye... I will update His Majesty at daybreak. As for now, it would be best to let these young people do what they wished in their lives. Furthermore, it would be good to let out some pent up frustration over their hard work in the fields or in the production areas."

"Heh... And they continued to plant more seeds on fertile lands, am I right? Old man, better go get some sleep and not get some funny ideas already."

Meanwhile, Eagle was tying up some loose ends. He had gone back to the windmill and seen that Sparrow was there as usual with Pigeon as they took turns to watch the surroundings for any suspicious activities.

Being on an elevated area gave them a vantage point to be able to scan the radius more effectively. The duo acknowledged the Eagle as he sat on one of the leather trunks and began to scribe a small note.

This note that would be sent by the carrier pigeon would be sent to the appropriate destination once it had landed to its stop hub where messages were exchanged with other pigeons destined to their proposed destination.

After he had placed the note securely inside the canister attached to one of the pigeon's legs, he let it go through a small gap of the windmill top level as it fluttered its wings and flew off.

Just as he had sent one carrier pigeon out, another one came flying in and settled not on the rafters as the other pigeons that were 'off' duty, but was fluttering around the windmill indicating that it had a message attached that has yet to be received.

Like a falconer, Eagle outstretched his arm and jiggled a pair of bells as the incoming pigeon heard it and landed deftly on the arm. He caught it, removed the note and place it in the feeding area for it to rest.

He unfurled the note and after deciphering the words that were written on it through lots of abbreviations, he finally understood and decided to bring the nite to His Majesty the next following day.

The decision would be up to His Majesty to make, whether it would be a fair one or a wise one because on Eagle's point of view, it may or not have a significant impact for His Majesty once he had heard the news and decides it not to act on it.

He kept the note securely into one of his hidden pockets, tapped it once to ensure that it stays there, which was his normal practice and climbed to a higher platform to oversee the whole area beyond the residential area.

The vantage point gave one a good view even till the 'shaved' knoll that they had excavated to extract the clay and soil from it to make the clay bricks. "It won't be long till that piece of land would be flattened and then I am sure that Frank would be chopping trees down in that zone."

"Our guys would be able to chop the trees to clear for the building of His Majesty's domain and then we might make the sea mill to operate around the clock to ensure that this village would not be dead silent as it normally would. Having such activities would also be a form of deterrence."

Eagle thought to himself as he clambered down from his position and tapped the duo Shadows who were on watch as he made his way back to the house he shared with the rest of the Shadows.

It was a practise that a few of them would be resting while at least 2 would be on watch to ensure that they could immediately spring to action in case of any emergencies.

A river flowing calmly does not mean there are no crocodiles in the waters.
