Beast Enchanter

Chapter 2 - Beginning Tutorial Island

After I closed my eye and everything went black, I started to see a light when suddenly, I was in the middle of a white room. A woman was standing in front of me she looked to be an angle as she has wings and a halo. She was in a pure white dress with long pink hair she smiled and gave a slight bow.

"Welcome chosen to the Soul Frontier, what race would you like to be?"

As if right on queue a small list of four choices came scrolling down and on the side of them also listed there inherent racial abilities. However, I was still too blow away to pay any attention to that right now Total Storm really did a number on this one this visualizer was out of this world I had to think really hard to feel my actual body in the real world, and the sensations were so real it was actually kind of scary. It was all so real as If I was as if I had been living in that world all along. After taking a few more minutes to admire the realism, I finally turn to look at the menu prompt.

Light elves- (+30%) to Light Element and (10%) to Wis

Dark elves- (+20%) to all Elements but (-50%) to Light Element

Humans- (+25%) more Crit Dmg and (15%) Vit

Dwarves- (+45%) to Str but (-20%) Agi

I am looking at these stats it pretty obvious what each race is meant for, and what kind of play style is best for them. You want light elves as healers, the dark elves look to be good mages, the Humans appear to be good fighters, and dwarves make for great tanks, but then here the thing thanks to what Felix told me. I know that priests are a hidden class and that means you won't necessarily be a light elf healer if you don't unlock the hidden class for it. I still don't know all the classes. I suddenly thought of something Felix said and agreed I that the results are a bit of a gamble. I guess I have to choose based on what I'm hoping to play. Suddenly when I was still in the middle of thinking the NPC suddenly spoke up.

"If you like I can explain the classes for you if you're having trouble choosing," she said.

"Huh, how did you know I was thinking about the classes?" I said.

"Oh I didn't know, It's just that all the chosen that came before you all asked about them, so I assumed you wanted to know as well since you had a serious look on your face," she said with a small giggle.

Did I have that serious of a face? I mean I was thinking pretty deeply, but I don't want to regret my choice I've heard that you can't remake your character once you've chosen which is common for most games now. Many people were angry about this, as usual, in the forums and they only quieted down when the game developers revealed you would get a second chance with the new gaming helms as they can boost your play slightly so it would be unfair not to give a second chance. However, there would not be another, and you don't get a new soul pet they are locked until you get to level 10.

"Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pick fun at our chosen here please do forgive me," she said.

"It's fine, and yes I would greatly appreciate if you could explain the classes the best you can," I said.

"Well, there are only three basic classes that anyone can be Swordsman, Guardian, and Ranger. Their abilities are something you would have to figure out yourself, and as I would like to explain the hidden classes but I'm under orders that prevent me from doing as such as our god believes that luck is a part of strength."

Hmm, that was at least somewhat helpful although not much so in conclusion I just have to wing it, and I'm thinking that if Holy priest was a hidden class, I guess that Thief and mage are probably ones as well. Based on my assumptions the human race has the best all arounder stats as critical damage is always useful, so I'll go with that one I'll make my decision based on what I get for the class.

"Ill chose human."

'Ding'

A copy of me stood right in front of me. I had black-brown hair blue eye a small beard, and average looks or at least I like to think so.

"How would you like to change your appearance."

"Just make it look more handsome as I don't care for the exacted details."

"Understood."

'Ding'

"Please select your name you will use in the Soul Frontier."

I wrote "Dragonsong" as its a name I've used a lot in the past.

"Ding"

"Now please select an egg from the table in front of you."

This one was strange, why would I need to chose? Why not just give me one is there a reason for it? I just decided to ask this time as thinking about it will get me nowhere.

"Why do I have to choose why not just give me one?"

"Yes while there is a reason, I can't tell you that yet, you will find out once you reach Level 10 is all I can say, so choose wisely," she said flashing me another smile.

Ok so asking her has been pretty unhelpful, but it seems like another gamble. I wonder what's in them all. There are only four eggs on the table, and all of them are blue with red marking there doesn't seem to be a difference but if you need to point one out it would be that there all a little bit differently sized. They probably represent different creatures I figure I'd go middle ground I picked a medium sized egg at random.

'Ding' Mysterious egg has been added to your inventory.

"Now please select your difficulties."

A menu of writing appeared in front of me, and it said 'You will be sent to an island and taught how to survive the Soul Frontier however god doesn't have enough helpful teachers for all the chosen, will you help god? Easy has god's best teachers, Medium has god's ordinary teachers, Hard has the gods untrained teachers, and hell has no teachers you will be left with mission statements to fend for yourself. You will be rewarded equal to the difficulty you have chosen, as gods best teacher don't have time to teach you all.

"..."

I had no clue. I wish Felix would of at least told me about this I'm sure he knew about this I had no idea how hard the tutorials were supposed to be, but as I thought about it, many people were raging on the forums for how difficult the beginning was. The rewards sounded very tempting but will it be worth it? As I contemplated the question, I just asked her, but I didn't hold out much hope of an answer.

"Can you tell me what the rewards will be if I chose the high difficulties and what I will be doing on the islands?"I asked

"I can only say the rewards are part of the Level 10 bonus, but on the island, you will be doing missions like hunting the neighborhood monsters. If you get a teacher, you will be doing a tutorial on how to fight, and he will help along the way. The teacher will also give a low-grade starter weapon but if you have no teacher you will be left to your own devices like finding a weapon is probably a good start."

Well, she was surprisingly more helpful then I was expecting, and this was probably obvious by now, but this trial seems to be in a point system. If I get high points, I can probably get a hidden class, or a high grade spirit pet. I don't know how many tests there are, but it's probably something like that the egg is just a random amount of points I picked and I will figure it out later. Even knowing all this I still don't know enough, but I guess I'll just wing it as I saw some posts that you can change the difficulty If it is too hard.

"I'll pick hell difficulty."

'Ding' Thank you for helping god you will be rewarded at Level 10.

"Thank you for helping god if you can complete this trail, I can promise you won't regret it." said the NPC as everything faded black and with that, I was once again blinded by white light and quickly found myself in the middle of a small village. I looked to be standing on a broken down stone circle it's probably some kind of magic circle.

'ding' Tutorial Island Quest (1/10).

Pretty sad, if I had to say so. I seem to have clothes on just a black shirt and brown pants, but they're not even considered equipment. In my bag, all I had was 100 Bronze coins, Gods Crest which all it had for its description was 'it's a quest item', and lastly the mysterious egg the bag appeared to be rather beaten up and had a max slot of 15. Well, I guess I should look around for a weapon on the way to the village chief I don't know what kind of follow up quest there will be, but hopefully 100 bronze coins can at least get me something. I look around the village it seems pretty desolate. They might all be in there house's, but it was rather spooky. I come across a house a little bigger than the rest with a stone chimney, and I heard sounds of banging metal. I glanced at the sign hanging in front of the door, and I had already realized on the way through town that I can't read, maybe it a skill I will get eventually. Basic reading would be helpful, but I saw the anvil symbol on the sign, so I'm assuming this is the weapon shop.

I opened the door, and a little bell jingle went off as I walked in. I took a look around It was pretty small inside there were little choice's only a few daggers on a weapons rack, a small wooden shield off to the side and the only weapon that seemed decent was the single short sword on display. I wasn't disappointed though I wasn't expecting to find some godly weapon in the beginner's area. As I was checking out what the store had to offer a man with a deep voice came out from the back of the shop.

"Welcome, how can I help ya?"

"Ah yes, I was hoping to find out if you had any cheap weapons maybe some armor depending on the prices," I said.

"Not many people come around these parts, so weapons aren't my specialty, but I make basic one so we villagers can defend ourselves if needed. Recently we have been getting attacked by the local pests the wererabbits their population seems to have been getting bigger recently, and they're looking to try and expand, and it seems they've set their eye on our fields, so many of the villagers are taking turns acting as guards in our fields to drive them back. I can lend you a short sword if you help kill these wererabbits and if you succeed, I will give a short sword to you."

'Ding'

-Help The Village take care of the Pests?-

*The wererabbits are attempting to take the fields will you help kill them? *You will be lent a short sword.*

*Kill 0/150 wererabbits*

*Your reward will be a short sword*

Yes/No

"Yes!"

"Thanks, lad this we appreciate the help. What armor are you looking for?"

"Nothing much just an armor sets that can cost about 100 Bronze the quality doesn't have to be great."

The blacksmith said rubbing his chin, "Well, I have a set of light leather armor that I made last week out of scr.a.p.es that costs 100 Bronze, but they're not great you sure you want it?"

"I'll take it; it's better than nothing, "I said.

I handed the last of my money to him and equipped my new gear. I half the expected a quest from the blacksmith as I don't get a starting weapon from a trainer like in the other modes, but this quest was a bit bigger than I expected I wonder if I have to kill 150 wererabbits because of hell mode? I guess I can ask Felix later. Wait... speaking of Felix he told me his in-game name, didn't he? I can ask him now. I open my console and sent a friend invite to 'Hanson Devil,' and he Immediately accepted and I got a call almost right away. I picked up.

'Click'

{Hello, who is this?}

{It you new roommate you told me your IGN remember?}

{Oh! Ya, sorry been so busy that I totally spaced that. Things are rather hectic with the guilds fighting over the farming areas. Speaking of which would you like to join our guild The Armor Crusaders?}

{Hmm, not right now I'll wait until after I get off this island to make a decision, but besides that, I had a question. Why didn't you tell me about the teacher difficulties? }

{Oh right that too be honest I was trying to hurry up and get on before the guild master screamed at me, but at least you were like rest of us and had no idea what was going on, I hope you didn't pick hell right?}

{Ya I did, why? Was that bad?}

{Well it's not really bad... it's just that modes too hard, and pretty much everyone tried hell difficulty at first. When you beat the rabbits and finish the first quest from the chief 'Calm the giants' the difficulties ramps up to impossible levels but you can at least you can go through the village chief to go down a difficulty pretty much everyone one of us switched to hard mode. There are a few solo players still trying it but I've heard at most they've gotten to the 4th quest and are beginning to give up.}

{Why is it so hard? Shouldn't this be a tutorial and be made to teach you the basics of the game?}

{I'm not really sure why but I will say that hard difficulty and hell difficulty are like night and day entirely different having an instructor makes it so much easier just because there along with you the entire way helping if you face something too strong although they don't always help out and have a bad attitude. So my assumption is hell difficulty requires you to be very sneaky or to have good judgment and stay away from things that are too strong while you kill the things you can. Although, that's easier said than done as hell has too many strong beasts hiding in the forest and their aggro range is big they tend to notice you before you see them. Many of us wasted the entire first day trying to finishing the second quest only to find out how impossible the 3rd quest is.}

{Thanks for letting me know, but I still want to stick with hell mode for now. I at least want to experience it for myself. I mean who knows maybe I'll figure out something you guys couldn't.}

{Ya? Well, good luck with that and don't spend too long on it. You don't want to get too far behind, and I'll throw this out there many of us think there might be a hidden quest somewhere that would help otherwise it doesn't make sense. The solo players that have been able to get to the 4rth quest are just persistent and lucky after all when you die your quest does not reset, and you have no death penalties on the Island but the 4rth quest doesn't allow that, and many are about to give up.}
