Beast Enchanter

Chapter 4 - The Stone Giants…

The 2 Giants took me to see their chief he was in the Cave Closest to the village Entrance and as I entered the cave I was able to pick him out of all the others right away he was the only one with a bone helmet, so I figured he was chief. He was sitting in the back of the cave staring into a fire with bones hanging everywhere hung by strings.

"Chief... Human come...Helps us kill rabbits...Wants to speak to chief…"

"Hmm, a human huh. What do you want nameless one."

I was a bit surprised the chief appears to be very reasonable compared to the rest must be because of the helmet.

"I was told of your troubles, and your anger has been causing worries for the village chief to the north, so I was sent to help you get rid of these pesky wererabbit and to show you this."

'Ding' Completed Quest -Calm the giants-

*Coagulation of reaching level 3*

I held out my hand with gods crest in it and dropped it into his were three times my size. He always had this uninterested look on his face since the moment I appeared, but his eye shot wide open when he saw god's crest and said.

"You're one of the great one's chosen! Yes, I see, it's no wonder they would send you to help us. Hmm.. yes, please sit chosen I will explain what it is I need you to do. These rabbits are far too quick for my brethren and although I can handle them, my brethren can not. I would deal with them if I could, but I have to remain here to protect the young ones. They run past my brother's, and sister's to target the young as the wererabbits current huge population required much food, and they weak attacks can kill our young, so they see us as a good source of food despite the risk. I had sent my brothers to scout for the nest which they found far east of here, but a wererabbit lord rules them. So I have been having my brothers hold the line of defense In hopes that one of the others there is targeting can deal with them but alas my patience has been waning lucky you arrived, or I might have taken the human village as our new home to rid us of these rabbits.

"I don't think taking the human village would be much benefit to you, as the wererabbits have been targeting them as well."

"Truly? Hmm... Yes, it seems the situation at hand is more direr then I had thought If they can attack those selfish humans without much retaliation."

"I was asked to kill the rabbits back into their nest If I can have a giant come with me to point me in their direction, I could do you a favor."

"I can see through my brother's eye's, and although I saw you drive off the young rabbits you are no match for there warrior's to go alone would be suicidal, but If you insist I will not stop you, but I have a better solution for you chosen. If you were a normal human, I would not allow this, but for a chosen, I will relent. Here take this."

He reached in a bag by his side and took something out and handed it to me. I held out my hands as we did earlier and I nearly dropped. It was heavy. I took a look at the items description.

(Black)Legendary- Ring Of the Stone Giants-(Lvl 3)

[Agi(+50),Str(+50),Vitality(+50),+20% fire Resistance/Affinity]

[-Active-Tripe your damage for 10 sec(10 hr. cd)](Maxed out at 500 dmg.)

Suddenly it clicked why those solo player were so insistent on finish this quest line this ring was too good to be true for low levels, and It made me a bit worried what could make the top players give up despite having this ring?

"This… is too much, are you sure you wish to give me such a precious ring?"

"Please don't humble yourself chosen you are worth this much. If chosen is to kill the Wererabbits this much is necessary."

"I will accept it then what is your plan?"

"I don't have much of a plan other than giving you that ring, but I have a request for chosen. If you can complete this request, I will have a greater reward for you but don't trouble yourself if you can not do it. I wish for you to kill that damn rabbit general. Despite my efforts in keeping my brethren safe he continues to evade me. Killing our young, I am always one step too late to stop him he is the reason for my loss of patience as before long I will have no more young to protect."

Quest-Behead the damned general(3/10)-

*Kill the Rabbit general that continues to evade the chief in protecting his brethren despite his best efforts.*

*The Chief has promised a reward better then the Ring of the Stone Giants*

*Boots of the Rabbit general*

*Reach level 4*

Yes/No?

"Yes"

I didn't hesitate even for a split second. There's no downside to this quest the benefit is massive however It could only mean the general is strong. This quest must be the reason so many people gave up on this quest chain, but I had heard a bunch of solo player got to the fourth quest, but they're about to give up what is so impossible that they can't pass it after killing the general? I decided to call Felix an ask.

--click-

"Hey. what's up?"

"Hey Felix, Is the -Behead the damned general- the quest that caused you all to quit?"

"Ya, it's that one even solo players can't finish it although a few have managed to find a way. The fourth quest is even more impossible because you can't distribute stats on the island or even have any help. The wererabbit lord is whom you have to kill, and I've heard he's twice as strong as the general and even when you get the gear it still two hits you. It is just impossible to finish the quest normally. His stats are too high for a solo mission it's why you need assistance, but we could never get past the general However, I'm sure if we spent more time we could have done it. I'm glad we decided not to. it wasn't worth our time as a top tier guild we can't waste our time like that but let me know if you find anything since we can get a second chance when the new helmet come out."

"I figured as much you guys got the ring as well, and still couldn't kill him?"

"Yep, although it is a close fight."

"I saw a book back the village that I thought was going to be important, but I have to finish these quest to get the money to buy it, but it looks like that one was a bust."

"Oh, ya? You found that one huh many of our guildmates though there might be a way to make money to buy it, but they couldn't find much. Although they found a few odd jobs the amount of money they made was nowhere near close enough to pay for that skill and there all one time jobs."

"Well guess I'll take a look around thanks, Felix."

"Hey, no problem were roomie's now so let me know if you find anything."

-The call has ended-

Well that was disappointing I had thought I was onto something with the book, but I guess It would be too obvious if that were the case. I left the giants cave and decided to look around the village outskirts first see if I could spot anything but didn't see anything, so then I figured maybe something would appear on the escort mission. The ring the stone giants have made it, so this should be easy as long as I don't run across anything too substantial. I walked a bit back north then went southeast as I didn't want to run into any wererabbits on my way accidentally. I continued at pretty good pace with the extra agility I got I was pretty fast now even more so than normal wererabbits. I didn't know how quick the strong ones were, but I imaged even faster than me even with the ring. As I made my way there, I spotted the camp in the distance but then heard a voice right behind me, and they held a dagger to my throat.

"Who are you and why are you here?"

I tried to stay calm as I assumed she was a scout "My names Dragonsong I was asked to come to join the scouting mission."

She released her dagger and walked in front in of me she looked to be a light elf woman with blonde hair and green eyes, which I found quite pretty.

"Hmpf, you? You didn't even try to hide your presence might as well be selling us out to the enemy I was following for the past 5 mins, and you didn't even notice."

I hadn't noticed at all, but maybe that's something the other teacher is supposed to teach you? The hiding your presence thing she just mentioned.

"Umm I don't know how to hide my presence as I never had anyone to teach me, but since we're going to be going on this mission together would you mind teaching it to me I would greatly appreciate that as it sounds handy."

"Typical of human asking for benefits without paying for anything in return, but as much as I want to say no, I'm probably going to have to. Follow me we need to report your arrival to the leader."

She was right I was hoping for it for free, but she's an NPC, I expect her to be able to teach me, but she got quite the attitude you can't even tell she's an NPC. We walked into camp the guards let us in without any questions probably because of this girl next to me which reminds me I didn't ask for her name, that was rude of me. We headed for the biggest tent in the middle the guards there asked us a few questions but let us in regardless as soon as we entered the women leading me starts shouting.

"Hey! Elise get out here we got a newbie for our mission!" She yells upon entering then a dark elf woman with black hair and green eyes walked out from the back.

"Don't yell Silica we on a stealth mission remember what if there are Wererabbits nearby?"

"What stealth! This guy can't even hide his presence beside even if there are wererabbit nearby we can just kill them if they attack!"

"Is that right...?" she then glance over at me.

"Who sent you? They should know better than to send someone untrained on this mission. Our jobs are important you know?" She said in a commanding tone entirely different from her kind voice when she spoke to the girl named Silica I wonder what their relationship is.

"My names DragonSong I was sent here by Paul and Jessica from the north village. They wanted to how I handled myself on the battlefield, although... I wish to kill the Wererabbit general myself." I said with confidence.

"Hmph, why you might look strong enough to take down some Wererabbits, but the real fighters of their race would be too much for you. You might as well be cannon fodder for the general. I say we send him back he's too much of a pain."

"Now, Now Silica, can't you feel the holy aura on him? That means he, not a normal person. He's a chosen and a chosen wouldn't be here for no reason."

"What a chosen, him? No way! The chosen have all made there marks on history a god wouldn't pick a weakling like him."

Hmm? She can sense an aura what does that mean the others had no idea until I showed them the crest, but she was able to figure it out by looking at me.

"Yes... I'm a chosen, But how did you know? I had to reveal God's crest to the others and I know I'm not strong now, but that doesn't mean it will always be that way."

"Oh? A humble chosen we have here don't we? Most would get mad at silica for her rude remarks but you surprisingly calm."

I never dealt with anyone like her in real life but, I had watched lots of anime with annoying women like her, so her type doesn't get under my skin unless they do something idiotic in a fit of anger.

"Yes, I just have more patience than most."

"Hey! I'm right here you know!"

"Yes we know Silica, but we can't deny your feisty attitude. Anyways as for your question of how I know you're a chosen. I'm able to sense the aura of every living thing as a mage, so I'm more in tune with the elements than others and a chosen's aura if unique I have only met one other Chosen before, and I remember their aura there very well, blindingly bright but also very calm."

"So any mage can sense your a chosen?"

"Not all mages I just happen to be better than most. I normally wouldn't be on such a small island If I hadn't been informed that a catastrophe is bound to happen If these rabbits are allowed to take over. However, even with my assistance, these rabbits are still strong as there Lord is almost as strong as me."

I was shocked. It's not the first I've heard of the lord, and I had assumed it to be far stronger than me. However not that strong. I'm unable to see Lady Elise's stats which means I'm too weak to see them I don't know how big a difference there is for me not to be able to see stats, but it was probably pretty broad.

" Silica you will be in charge of teaching him than hmm?."

"Wha--. Ugh fine, I had expected this anyways when he arrived."

"I will be in your care," I said to Silica.

"Just make sure you at least learn something useful, or this would be a giant waste of my time."

I was hoping to stay on her good side, so maybe she will teach me something, after all, I had no teacher, and this was an excellent opportunity to learn some skills. We left the tent after that. She took me back a bit ways north as it was probably safer in this direction, but we didn't go far after all we had to go back to camp when we were done.

"So newbie first things first I have a question. What do you think Is the most important thing when on a stealth mission?"

"To not be seen or heard?"

"Ugh, I should've expected a dumb answer. No! That's we do, not what's important. We can get caught as long as we get the information we need, so what's important is to make sure you get the information If you get caught you can always escape if you're good enough. So I'll ask you again. What's the most important thing when being stealthy?'

"To make sure we get information!"

"No, again newbie use your brain your only half right. You need to make sure to get the information and to live. What's the point of getting the information if you die with it."

Her attitude isn't helping the lessons, and she seems to be holding a small grudge for what I said in the tent. Hopefully, that passes otherwise it would get annoying.

"So the first thing we're going to practice is to live."She pulled out her dagger.

"Evade my attacks for 1 hr. you can't attack or block but try to live and run If I feel you can't go on you fail."
