46 – Careers (1)

Why do people hate Monday and love Saturday?

At least the reason I like Saturday is that I can sleep in.

When it comes to weekends, my eyes automatically open late.

No matter how early I go to sleep the night before, I keep sleeping until the sun rises in mid-heaven.

This habit was inevitable since I was the youngest PD in my previous life.

During the day, I worked hard at the broadcasting station, and at night, I wrote like a machine until late at night.

To be honest, this was a life pattern in which fatigue was inevitable.

That’s why I made up for the lack of sleep on the weekends to survive. If you oversleep in a state of lack of sleep, there is no cure as refreshing as that.

“Mom. I’m going to Hanbit Preview.”

It was a refreshing Saturday day as usual after I finished worrying about my retirement and career the day before.

As I was eating lunch with my family at the dining table, I brought up the topic of going to high school.

Hanbit Arts High School.

It is a well-known notice in Korea, and the school where Park Ha-joon, who appeared in the role of ‘Gang-cheol’ in Itaewon Revolution, is attending.

Befitting a high school with a name, the tuition is a bit expensive, but it doesn’t really matter to me now.

Because of the money I earned under the name of a 927 writer, and there’s also a scholarship system there.

Scholarships.

Hanbit Arts High School has a scholarship system that provides full tuition support to students with good grades or outstanding talent.

Of course, my previous life was far from a scholarship, but in this life, you never know.

“Are you talking about Hanbit Arts High School?”

“Yes. I plan to apply for the video production department.”

If I were to ask why I chose Hanbit Art High School, it was because the location of the school was relatively close to my home, and there was a video production department there, which is one of the few in Korea.

The Video Production Department of Hanbit Arts High School deals with various video media such as film, TV, CF, music video, and photography, and is in charge of all parts from the overall basics to planning/production.

Now I can only do my part in the planning part.

But as the saying goes, if you know one, you know ten, so if you build up professional knowledge related to filming and production here, you will be able to write a script from a much more diverse perspective.

And someday, I wanted to make a real ‘my own’ work in which I was directly involved in everything from planning to filming and production.

To be honest, I think all the works made under the name of 927 are half-baked.

Director Go Dong-bin’s intentions in the filming part and PD Na’s intentions in the production part were mixed, so it is a little ambiguous to say that it is only my own work.

What… Of course, as much as I am involved in all parts, there will be twice as many things to do than now, but I was greedy for at least one project.

“Yes. I see.”

At that time, my mother said with a small eye smile.

“Are you giving me permission?”

“Sure. You are a whopping 927 writer, so of course I thought you would go that way. But son.”

“Yes?”

“So, when will the next work air? Can you tell your mother a little bit?”

“… ….”

Uh….

Coming to think of it, you haven’t told your family about your retirement yet.

“That… Will it take a little longer this time?”

“Ummm… Too bad.”

My words are not a little bit, but a lot. A mother who seems to be having a hard time hiding her disappointment. Of course, her father and older sister, who were by her side, had the same reaction.

Write…….

Looking at the reaction of the family, maybe it would be better not to announce the retirement until the official comes out?

A few days later, I visited Director Yoo Yeon-jeong’s office.

I usually don’t visit this place unless it’s really important.

If it’s a trivial task, I, PD-nim, or Yong-seok hyung can finish it.

However, I felt I had to discuss this issue with director Yoo Yeon-jeong.

From noble mtl dot com

Well, it’s about my retirement…….

“The reason is that the public’s interest and pressure came as a psychological burden.”

“I see… All right.”

When I announced my intention to retire, Yoo Yeon-jung smiled bitterly as if she knew.

Then she asked me.

“Then, when should we make the announcement? I think it’s a little early now.”

“Yes. Certainly, as the director said, I think it is a bit premature now.”

Not even a month has passed since the airing of Itaewon Revolution, and a little later, the Cheongsang Arts Awards also overlapped, so there were relatively few complaints from people now.

Just as it has intensified since the beginning of this year, people will probably start to grow angry from the beginning of next year.

I roughly predict that it will get worse around March or April next year.

And that’s probably the best time to announce your retirement…….

“Oh, and there are a few more things I want to ask you, do you have time?”

“Yes. I am of course welcome.”

Yoo Yeon-jung nodded her head as if it didn’t matter.

In fact, the reason I came here today was not only for retirement, but also for other reasons.

“I saw it in the newspaper, and 4 years ago, Studio Enmix and Hanbit Art High School briefly signed a Yehak cooperation. So, I was wondering if you knew anything about Song Ha-yul, chairman of Hanbit Art High School.”

Here, rites and schools cooperation is mutual cooperation in order to contribute to the development of culture and arts by creating a foundation in the field of culture and arts and fostering professional manpower.

In other words, from the standpoint of Hanlim Art High School, it is possible to provide a place for field practice and receive high-quality education courses, and from the standpoint of Studio Enmix, it can be a lecture by experts and publicity of the company, so in the end, it is mutually beneficial.

“But all of a sudden, she said, “Why is that woman?”

“Actually, I applied for the video production department at Hanbit Arts High School. However, I heard that there is an interview for the entrance exam practice, and the interviewer is Song Ha-yul, chairman of the board of directors.”

Not all interviews are like that, but usually there are pass and fail depending on the personality of the interviewer.

So, if you just figure out what the interviewer’s tendencies are like in advance, the difficulty will definitely go down.

To be honest, the reason I asked her this question was simply because I was a little worried about her performance in the entrance exam.

Unusually, Hanbit Art High School only reflects 100% of practical skills without looking at the school at all.

I can feel the intention to see only outstanding skills and talents here, but the problem is that Hanbit Art High School has a much higher competition rate than other art high schools.

As of last year, the ratio for the entertainment department, which had the highest competition rate, was 15:1, and for the video production department, which had the lowest competition rate, the ratio was 7:1.

It means that it is difficult to pass easily if you just head on the ground without any preparation.

“Aha. I understand what you mean.”

At that time, director Yoo Yeon-jeong gave a kind smile.

As expected, it was her answer that came to her today…….

Since he was a person with wide feet in this direction, he seems to have a rough idea of what kind of person Chairman Song Ha-yul is.

“You mean to put it in the Hanbit Preview if possible, right?”

…… I guess you didn’t understand what I meant at all.

“Just kidding. In the first place, Ha-yul’s personality is such that even if I asked him to stick with the writer, he would immediately refuse.”

“Seeing that you know that much, you must be quite close.”

“Yes… what. He and I are classmates from the same university. Still, I’m not as close as the writer thought.”

Director Yoo Yeon-jung continued, saying that it was a simple business relationship with Chairman Song Ha-yul.

“To put it simply, Ha Yul likes people who are full of talent. That’s why she changed the entrance exam rules to 100% practical skills and even went through interviews herself.”

“Um… I still don’t know how to do an interview with that.”

“Don’t worry too much. I’m sure everything will work out.”

“…… ?”

When I was thinking about that with a serious expression on my face, Director Yoo Yeon-jeong was smiling for some reason.

After Seo Eun-woo left her office and some time had passed, Yeon-jung, who was left alone in her room, searched for a name on her cell phone contact book.

[Clumsy b*tch]

Yoo Yeon-jeong immediately dialed the name to call her counterpart.

─What are you doing?

Soon, the connection sound disappeared and a woman’s voice was heard. There seemed to be a hint of irritation in the other person’s voice.

“Oh, Ha Yul, long time no see! How have you been?”

Yoo Yeon-jeong was also not happy at all, but asked about the other person’s well-being with her bright voice. The person she calls her is Song Ha-yul, the director of Hanbit Arts High School.

Although they are classmates in college, their personalities didn’t match well from the beginning. It should be said that it is like water and oil that cannot be mixed. ….

─I’m busy, so just tell me about your business.

“I know it’s work time, but I’m busy. It’s not a big deal, just keep a close eye on one of the freshman applicants named Seo Eun-woo. You will definitely like it.”

—Huh, was that the reason for the sudden phone call? I’m sorry, but even if you said that, I……

“He is the author of 927.”

Song Ha-yul, whom he knows, cherishes and favors talented students.

Then, what if that student is a genius writer who is creating a stir?

…… At least he wouldn’t be a great person who would just reveal this fact to others.

Knowing that, Yoo Yeon-jeong decided that it was okay to boldly reveal the identity of the author of 927.

— … What?

And Yoo Yeon-jeong smiled at Song Ha-yul’s bewildered reaction, which is not so easy to see.

Anyway, I think this would have had a considerable impact on his passing.
