Kane was sitting behind his rarely used antique oak office desk enjoying a brief moment of tranquility, when the annoying ringing of his phone announced his rest time was over. Looking at it Kane heaved a sigh before stretching out his arm to pick it up. On the other end of the phone was his secretary announcing that a senator Robert Bradshaw had arrived, barging through security and making his way to Kane's office.

Kane didn't need a secretary or security for that matter as anything could be sent directly to his codex via automated alerts but they were part of the illusion of this being a normal company, employing real people rather then the holograms and AI that they were. Of course the senator's every move was under intense scrutiny and his entourage was being monitored constantly so if there was any hostile action they would have been dead before they knew how they had died.

The simulated people and personalities also helped Kane to retain his normal human interaction abilities, as even if they were not real people they could be interacted with as if they were and they did all have their own unique personalities programmed so that they could pass for humans. Howard had said it before and it was something that Kane knew long before he had mentioned it but loneliness can easily warp the human mind and he wouldn't even realize it. With Kane's intelligence as he stood above the rest of the world, plus his experience and knowledge that he came from another dimension he was already lonely enough so when he buried himself in research it was also a way to distract himself. Kane not being entirely human with his advanced alien DNA of unknown origins and being superior in every way was not sure if he was immune to it or not.

The name senator Robert Bradshaw was not one of Kane's associates and he didn't know him either through business or personally but the name did ring a bell in his mind. Kane took out the files marked 'just in case' from his codex and browsed through them until he found the one he was looking for. Kane kept meticulous records and everything was in groups of civilian, military and government categorization then it was further organized in alphabetical order so the file marked Bradshaw, Robert was swiftly found.

"Well what do we have here eh? This guy is a regular black sheep and a stereotypical cliche bad guy. He has taken bribes for numerous things, delayed laws for his own benefit and is having affairs with four women with one of them being his secretary. Taking a look at his wife though it isn't surprising. She is older then him by ten years and although still very beautiful because while she has looked after herself, there is no hiding the signs of age that time has made on her body. Though the gray hair does make her look distinguished and adds a certain charm to her. Says here that she had medical treatment for a life threatening condition though it isn't specified what the condition was when she was younger that left her sterile, so no children between them. Maybe she knows about his indiscretions and she turns a blind eye because of her circ.u.mstances? Even if you does indeed knowingly turn a blind eye the America public will not and the press will eat him alive. Provided of course that he doesn't have some way of suppressing the news. But if she doesn't know well.. this opens up several cans of worms and things that I can use. I could even cure her fertility or flash clone her a w.o.m.b of a younger her allowing the capability to bear children even at an advanced age well past child bearing years."

This might all be a moot point though if Robert Bradshaw had come with peaceful intentions but the way he was swaggering around and barging through security without even arranging a meeting before hand showed what he thought of Kane. He was a man clearly used to being in power and the will to use that power frequently, believing himself almost untouchable and treating Kane and by extension his company with complete contempt with his actions.

"Well what will come, will come but whatever he wants or thinks is going to happen then he is going to be sorely disappointed with the result he is going to get today. With the amount of dirt I have on him I could bury him under a veritable mountain unable to dig his way out to see the light of day."

It didn't take too long before the pounding of multiple footsteps could be heard making their way towards Kane's office. Kane could practically hear the arrogance and dominance oozing from the man and he heard them quite a way off because of his enhanced sense of hearing but he spent the time setting up the scene for when the man comes into his office. Judging by Kane's impression of the man he doubted the senator would knock calmly of the door and wait to be shown in. Most likely he will barge in and start shouting his demands. Kane rarely had a moment of free time to enjoy the peace and tranquility to enjoy and the sheer novelty of doing nothing but relaxing and what little bit he managed to gain was ruined by this mans arrival. Kane snorted in disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e and he was really beginning to dislike the man more by the second despite having not even met him.

Sure enough the footsteps stopped outside his door before it swung open and three men could be seen behind it. One of the men barged in without any hesitation while the other two stood outside, not sparing Kane a glance before sweeping his eyes around the room to check if anyone else was inside and using something in his hand that Kane couldn't see to check things around the room. Kane couldn't see what it was but it was probably a primitive and rudimentary piece of equipment to check for bugs or other hidden surveillance equipment. Kane looked up from a doc.u.ment he was supposedly writing while a surprised expression was upon on his face.

"Clear" the man said before making his way to the side of the senator.

Motioning with his hand to the door the senator spoke to his men.

"Thanks you boys, I can take it from here. You two wait outside as we have some private matters of state to discuss and it would be better for you if you didn't hear anything. Nothing you see or hear today has happened and we where never here."

"Who the hell do you think you are to come barging into my office so rudely? You have seconds to explain, before I call security to have you all thrown out of the nearest window head first then shot for trespassing."

"I would like to see you try. You might not know who I am but I know you. I am senator Robert Bradshaw and I am here to discuss what you can do for the American people. You can consider it a great honor to help this country especially after all it has done for you."

"I know whom you are senator but what gives you the audacity to storm in here like a bucking bronco? I have seen more civilized bulls in a china shop then you guys. If you want to discuss business then make an appointment or call first and I will something arranged that suits both of us. Tell me what exactly has this country done for me that I should feel the need to repay back?"

"Well we took you in and allowed you to prosper into the man you are now. Because of policies and people of our great nation you became a very, very rich man. But you are an immigrant and I am sure you wouldn't want anything to jeopardize that status right?"

"Firstly I was a rich man before I came here and I would have prospered in any country I chose to reside in. Secondly the only reason I came here was because of the policies. I could have set up in any country but the policies in this country is great in that it allows me to carry a gun and shoot idiots in self defense. Of course I can do that in any third world country but some stupid dictator will probably get thoughts in his greedy head, most likely to force me to make things for him and steal my work then I would have to annihilate him and his forces. Then I would have to do it to the next few dictators that came along as they would see it as a challenge and beating me would show they were better then their predecessors. At least in this country the government can't be to overbearing. I came to this country because it was easier that is it and as a merchant and super scientist I would be welcome with open arms in any other country. Thirdly you don't ask for my help but demand it and threaten me at the same time if I do not cooperate? Do you have any idea how much money in taxes that this country would lose if I left it, not to mention my technology and medical services that I have provided? Are you really such an idiot?"

The man stood there flabbergast for a few seconds before pulling himself together to launch a counter attack.

"Son, I represent the American government and they represent the will of the people in this country. You couldn't just leave if want. Even if you walked out the door right now all I need is one phone call to have you grounded and chased down. You are on our soil and you cannot escape the long arm of the law."

"You seem to think I fear you, or at least this country. I do not, as there is nothing to fear. You are like children in my eyes and if you push me this country will simply disappear only to be remembered in the historic records to be replaced by the Kingdom of Kane. Now shall we stop this d.i.c.k measuring contest and you get down to why you actually came here and what it is you hope to gain from me?"
