Being Summoned Isn't Easy At All

Chapter 22 - Cold As Ice Yet Warm As A Fire

Sssss~ A gentle green glow shrouded my body with a lukewarm feeling.

The sensation of warmth slowly trickling through the wounds stopped. Though the green glow brought with it a warm feeling, it also was quite painful.

I could feel my wounds stop bleeding and boy did that process hurt. It felt like fire was used to close them by burning.

'Fudge that hurts...' I hissed.

Looking up, her blue eyes met with my golden irises and for a moment, I was dazed.

'Stella is dangerous...' That was my thought before I hurriedly separated myself from her plentiful c.h.e.s.t. She was beautiful and kind to me. Just like a warm flame that heated up the coldest of winters.

Part of me wanted to make her mine but part of me didn't want to.

Because I was afraid of being betrayed once more. The situation where my former classmate and best friend Daniel Mcleon being silently dumped by his girl etched itself into my mind.

And the memory of a certain important person from the past still haunts me. I trusted her and she abused it.

I shook myself awake. No time for any distractions. The dragon stands and there are still a few more monsters that I have to kill.

That scaled monster without a doubt would never let us go unless we somehow hurt it again. We needed a way to somehow injure it.

"Stella, you stall the dragon and buy me time and I'll make sure to kill off everything as fast as I can." I told her of my plans. But she furrowed her brows in response and glared at me with dissatisfaction.

I moved my body slightly and soon, pain alerted my senses once more and one of my recently healed wounds reopened in the blink of an eye.

"You idiot! Don't even try to do anything and just sit down here like a good boy. Lest your wounds come knocking on your door again." Stella scolded me, only to be met with a low growl from my mouth. I will not sit here and spectate.

So what if my wounds reopen? She could just heal me again and my stamina along with the hp bar was nowhere near critical levels despite being somewhat low.

I knew my body well and I could still fight. I was stronger than before due to my attributes climbing up with every kill I scored. Plus.

I gazed at the corpses that littered the forest floor.

The exp would be a waste. And I am dying to know what would happen to me once I gained enough exp. Looking at my status screen, the (Sealed) state beside my race always bothered me.

Since my attributes were recovering whenever I absorbed exp, the seal should weaken or even fall off completely after I meet the needed exp requirement.

Alright. It's a good time for even more slaughter.

Shin!

I tried to move and a huge spike of ice coming from the ground sprouted into existence and threatened to pierce my throat.

I shot her a glare on which she frowned before sighing. Stella's expression softened and turned into a helpless one.

A strange-looking mark glowed on the back of her right hand.

This is?

I could feel my body betraying me. I lost all control and fell to the ground on my b.u.t.t with a thud. My legs positioned themselves to sit cross-legged. My hands rested on my knees.

"Stay there and wait for me alright?" She beamed a smile and her eyes curved into crescents.

No way. I want to move! I refuse to sit and do nothing!

I struggled strongly and much to my irritation, I couldn't move an inch. What sorcery is this?

Wait...

It's the damn master-servant contract! A forced command!

I grumbled in annoyance while observing her.

The walls of ice surrounding us turned into a brilliant white powder that scattered through the air. And right before my now widening eyes, the forest became a land of ice and snow.

Trees froze, the land was covered in dense snow and ice spikes sprouted from the ground so fast that the monsters weren't able to react.

The bears, goblins and even the hobgoblins who were quite tall, standing at 5 feet at minimum were impaled. None of the monsters made it out alive.

Such an application of ice magic, shouldn't she be tired by now? I asked myself and looked at Stella. Her back was facing me and she seemed unfazed. Mana roiled around her and entered her body at an alarming rate.

She was like a beacon that attracted mana to herself. Mana that surrounds her became so thick that it started turning into a mist that burrowed into her body.

And I could also feel another thing. Massive amounts of hostility came from Stella but it wasn't directed at me.

It was directed at the green dragon that warily gazed at her. It was actually retreating.

The dragon had a broken right wing. Its left eyelid drooped down and a few huge cuts littered the massive scaly frame.

It limped whenever it moved as it's left hind leg was broken.

-----

Roar!

CRASH!

A powerful canon of poison mist sn.a.k.e.d its way to Stella, only for the mist to be countered by a wall of ice. The two attacks had canceled each other out.

And to the dragon's vision, Stella was revealed behind the now setting fragments of ice.

Her blue eyes were sharp and focused, mana surged through her body and gathered around her. Magic circles would surface whenever she attacked.

The dragon had never met such a dangerous human in its young life. It growled.

If only it wasn't injured. If only its right wing wasn't broken. Then the arrogant ice wizard before it would've fallen to the might of its monstrous strength.

But sadly, life does not always favor you over others.

"Die..." A cold voice made everyone freeze and shudder.

Stella stood there with a cold expression hanging on her face. Mana surged even more wildly around her. Beads of sweat dripped from her forehead.

She was preparing to cast a powerful spell.

The dragon had enough. It turned tail and wanted to run.

ROAR!

But not before an ice spike pierced its right arm.

Temperature plummeted down and large thorny vines emerged from the frozen land, ensnaring the struggling dragon. It growled and hissed in pain while jagged vines dug and sunk into its flesh.

Stella sweated and she cursed under her breath.

A strange, glowing fiery rune started forming before her. It glowed menacingly and slowly started gaining more definition and color to it.

If that thing hits its mark, the oversized lizard would be lucky if it only got away with a few deep burns.

SNAP! Luckily for it, the dragon had broken free and ran away with reckless abandon. Stella cursed again before firing off the rune at a distance.

BOOM! It exploded with a force enough to send trees flying and seriously scar the surroundings. A wave of heat overtook the frigid atmosphere and the two extremities canceled each other out.

The ice melted and the fire soon died down. Leaving Grant and Stella alone in the cruel open field within the forest of shadows.

Stella felt drained. She had used two advanced spells back to back and multiple low tier spells. Despite her terrifying mana regeneration, the consumption was just too much.

Everything went silent. Stella heaved a sigh of relief before turning to Grant with an awkward expression and a wry smile.

The man had, after all, used her assets as a pillow even for just a few moments. She had never been actually touched by a man anywhere near her personal spots.

Grant looked up to her with a determined expression and she was surprised. Wasn't Grant supposed to blush due to being bothered by the earlier event between him and her?

Grant stood up as Stella had only used the command seal for a simple purpose.

Keep grant safe and make him rest by sitting on a spot for a few minutes. It didn't violate the contract where Grant's freedom shouldn't be restricted.

Even if it did, it was done out of consideration for his safety and health.

Grant disappeared and reappeared before her with a sleeping goblin that held a staff. He looked warmly at the goblin before tranquility retook his expression.

Grant made eye contact with Stella while they stood atop the numerous amounts of corpses. The formless and relaxing exp had stopped flowing into them and Grant worded out his d.e.s.i.r.e.

"Once we get back. Please teach me magic..." He asked Stella who frowned. She could understand why Grant wanted to learn magic after witnessing her brilliant display of power.

But did he really possess a talent for magic? Learning magic without talent would prove to be nothing but a chore that would make life harder. You will learn but very slowly and your progress would be like a baby's crawling speed.

"Please? Master?" He pleaded to her and Stella shivered.

'That is scary...' She knew Grant wasn't the type to ask for help from anyone unless it was needed. Seeing him actually pleading to her was such a bizarre sight.

Grant frowned before smiling wryly. A faint tint of red appeared on his cheeks out of embarrassment. Stella chuckled seeing that.

'He might be a damned brute but he is quite cute at times.' She sighed softly and her eyes looked warmly at her servant.

He was troublesome to deal with and manage but he was honest with his d.e.s.i.r.es. The type of person that Stella liked compared to those who schemed and had ulterior motives.

She had to deal with a lot of smiling people who hid agendas behind their backs while growing up. Meeting someone who was honest was a pleasant sight.

Stella chuckled before walking up to Grant and grabbing his arm again. Intent on guiding him to Beatry then to leave the forest.

"Sure! I'll teach you when we get back." Her response made Grant go silent.

He felt oddly warm inside and he didn't know what he was feeling. He felt relaxed and less tense as if everything was going to be alright if she was with him.

The two disappeared as they traveled through the silent forest. A warm smile was embedded upon Stella's lips while Grant smiled awkwardly.
