「Marsha-sama, please check this one.」

「I’m coming. Ah, wait a minute. I want you to put the flowers on the table. When the weather gets warmer, make sure to keep the water contained so it doesn’t wilt for a long time.」

「Marsha-sama, how would you like me to order the seating?」

「In that case, please use this as a sample and place the card that Myra-sama wrote on it. Please remember who is in charge so that there will be no mistakes when you show them around.」

With that, I handed her a piece of paper with the arrangement I have decided upon.

「I will heed to the order.」

「Please do.」

No time for a breather. That’s exactly what it feels like.

Today, the Queen is hosting a tea party for the ladies, who has just made their debut in the social world. It’s no wonder it’s so busy. Even though it is an annual event, there is much to do on the day. And moreover, it was a tea party hosted by the Queen. There is no room for failure. We have to be even more careful.

「Marsha-san, please come here.」

「Oh, Mary. Did something go wrong?」

I wondered at Mary’s call, as she should be able to handle certain matters without instructions.

「Just a little, I found something that caught my attention.」

「Eh, it’s something you’re interested in?」

Mary’s intuition is not to be underestimated. I know that from our many years together.

「It’s this one.」

With that said, I was led to a tea wagon that was to be used for a tea party.

「You weren’t planning to use these leaves and jam, were you? For some reason, it was on the list and available on all wagons, so I thought it was strange.」

「Nhhn…?」

I prepared that list. It would have been impossible for me to have included something in the list that I didn’t put in.

「Report back to Ryniel-sama. And Mary and I will do another check on everything that has to do with food and drink.」

「I’ll take care of it.」

The aroma of the leaves in her hand gave off the scent of a leaf that, while not a life-threatening poison, was harmful to pregnant women. Mary also noticed this.

I wonder what would have happened if Myra-sama had been pregnant. Is that the aim or just a threat?

「Mary, please be careful about what the ladies wear. If there is anything that you are concerned about, have them remove it if necessary. Good.」

「Okaay.」

I don’t think they would wear something so blatant, but it’s best to be sure.

But still.

「That they will imitate the licking…」

The voice that came out of my throat was terribly cold.

A few moments later, as the ladies were beginning to gather in the ready gardens, they noticed a small commotion at the entrance to the gardens.

「What’s the matter?」

I rushed to the scene to take care of the situation before the assembled ladies realized what was happening, and what I saw was one of the ladies sobbing her face off. Another young lady was standing by her side. And there was Countess Cierlify Bauer, with her red hair flowing and standing with a strong-minded look in her eyes.

A dismayed usher maid overheard what had happened to her.

「Ahh, I understand now.」

A fresh flower adorns the hair of the weeping young lady. A large lily flower.

「Please take a moment to calm down.」

When I said this and patted the lady’s back to calm her down, she almost sobbed from the sweet scent that seemed to penetrate through the lilies.

「Because, because, because this is more…」

「I did not say anything wrong. I merely said that such a large lily is not appropriate for a tea party, not even an evening party.」

「How rude!」

「I–It’s awful… uuhh.」

This comment made the young lady cry even more, and her friend, the Countess Bauer, glared at her as if she were a parent’s enemy.

「You lady is the daughter of the Viscount Agatha.」

「Y–Yes. My name is Amy.」

「Well, then, Amy-sama. Do not cry so much.」

「B–But… uurk…」

She had probably gone to a great deal of trouble to put on makeup, but her face was a wreck from tears. It would be too pitiful to take her to her seat like this.

I had no choice but to turn my head to the young lady who was standing by Miss Amy’s side.

「You will go to the garden first. Please leave Miss Amy to me.」

「Eh, but…!」

「It’s no problem. I will be responsible for her getting to the garden in time, so please don’t worry.」

I’m trying to be polite, but I don’t have much time before the tea party. I’m not going to make her say whether it exists or not.

「Okay, I understand. I asked you to take care of Amy for me.」

Perhaps pushed by my silent momentum, the young lady responded in a straightforward manner. But as she left, she looked at Countess Bauer,

「You’re a traitor.」

She spat out.

With these words, I understand that this young lady is a believer of the Royal Princess. I was also convinced that the reason she had been so hostile, even though she had made a rude remark to Miss Amy, was because Countess Bauer had declined her position as a friend of the Royal Princess.

「Well then, Miss Amy. Your eyes will swell up if you cry that much. Now, come here. Let’s cool those eyes first.」

I put my hand on her back and led her inside the room, not into the garden, and she walked out without hesitation. I was relieved that she didn’t want to be selfish here.

I looked at Countess Bauer and gave her a look of frustration as I expected. Perhaps it is not to Miss Amy that she looks frustrated, but to herself.

I can only imagine that Countess Bauer’s advice was made with Miss Amy in mind.

If Miss Amy had continued on to the garden table, she would have been shamed for her lack of manners in wearing something fragrant to a tea party. So before that, Countess Bauer made the point for her own good, but she must be disappointed with herself for not communicating it better.

Countess Bauer also has a lossy disposition, I chuckled inwardly. But as much as I like Countess Bauer, that’s what makes her cute, I think.

When I told Countess Bauer that I would take care of her without saying it out loud, she crumpled her face and gave me a small nod.
