Black Gate

Time Square, New York City 2025

The crowd has a life of its own, the vibrant clothes shine in the morning light and the people move like enchanting shoals of fish. There is chatter between sellers and buyers, old friends catching up, new friends made. The square is extremely busy, as people nudge their way through the crowd, as the noisy cabs passed.

BOOM!!!!!

A deafening explosion sounded, grabbing everyone attention. A skyscr.a.p.er was on fire but a smoke cloud was obstructing the view so no one could see what was happening. Soon everyone could hear a series of sirens. People started to panic.

" What is happening?"

" Is this 9/11over again?"

" OMG, I hope they are okay."

ROAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A screeching roar broke everyone's train of thought and made their ears bleed. Everyone quickly covered their ears, trying to relieve some of the pain, however to no prevail. The ringing sound continued for several more minutes as people struggled to open their eyes. The crowd felt their legs turn into wet noodles.

The deafening noise soon came to a halt, the crowd slowly open their eyes. After a few moments of panic, they heard a group of jets speed by.

" WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!" a businessman in a suit screamed at the top of his voice as he dropped to his knees.

Police soon arrived creating a barricade around the area, however, the smoke was becoming thinner and people saw the monster in the sky in front of them and the black gate in the sky. The police noticed that everyone saw the beast, started to try controlling the crowd.

" Everyone return home and to your families. Everything is in our control here."

A panicked man screamed back at the police, " In your control? Do you see that thing, that is not of the world, how can you have that under control?"

The police were speechless like their tongues were tied, the policeman tried to speak but his words would not come out. Suddenly a beautiful young detective walked out to the man that spoke.

" Even so, we have to try and you have to be with your family."

The crowd realized the young detective was right and dispersed.

A string of roars unraveled from the monster's tongue, like yarn unfurling, as the creature flapped its huge wings. It's golden scales shimmered with hot anger along with it's dark, cold eyes. Every flap caused the planes to shake. The planes tried to dodge a swing from its massive claws but to no avail. All the soldiers could hear was the yells of the fallen, the roars of the creature and the explosion of the planes. All they could do is feel. Feel the cold travel down their spines and the heat from the pain in their hearts, as the explosions sounded like the rhythm of the drum that signaled the end. They mustered all their strength with tears in their eyes and charged, knowing this might be their last moments.

The military fought the beast for two days to no avail, destroying most of Time Square and the military's fighter jets collection. After the two days, the beast just turned and returned into the black gate which it had come and disappeared.

The biggest military in the world was completely outmatched. The same thing happened all around the world, China, Japan, England, France, Spain, Australia, Russia, they all received massive attacks. The world was in a panic. More than 30 percent of the world military was destroyed and 10 percent of the world population was killed, many more injured, all in a couple of days. The world leaders met to discuss their common threat and the world was finally united. There were no more borders only the United Nations and the United Nation Association. The UNA banded together their greatest scientists and their resources to plan for the future attacks.

While the world was focusing on technology and better weapons, a new shining light appeared, people were developing abilities. With this new development, the scientist shifted their focus to these people calling them, "Awakened". More and more Awakened started to appear and with them more and more gates. After a few months of studying the gates and the Awakened, the scientist came to the conclusion the Awakened get their strength from the gates. They soon discovered that the awakened can also enter the gates. The UNA military-trained a group of Awakened to explore the gate. Only the best and brightest were allowed to go, they were given the title of " Pioneers". Out of the 15 that entered the gate, only six survived, out of that six none came out unscratched mentally or physically. However, they returned with a map, the first victory for mankind.

Over years, the Awakened became more powerful as more and more gates appeared, a new organization had to be formed, The Guild Association. The Guild Association is ran by the Awakened for the Awakened. They regulate Awakened activity, manage guilds, register Awakened and monitor gate activity. The Awakened and the gates have become the norm and being an Awakened has turned into a very lucrative job. Major companies and the UNA all covet the resources of the world in the gate, they called dungeons. The Guild Association started ranking the Awakened, to decrease casualties and to know who to focus their resources on.

The world has been made anew. It is 2105 and this world is ready for whatever the gates have in store for it.

Woosh!!!!

" It is a monster gate!!"

" I wonder which Awakened will come?"

A group of three people suddenly appear from the sky.

" Alex, you seriously have to stop making us jump from the helicopter, it hard on the knees." a chubby fellow stated with dissatisfaction.

A beautiful girl, looking no older than 18 sneered' " Maybe if you lose some weight, it wouldn't be so hard on your knees."

The handsome dark-skinned man in middle pulled a sword out of the space in front of him.

" Veronica, Bruce, be focused we have work to do" as he charged into a swarm of monsters.
