Chapter 25 - watching twilight.

We watched the first three movies in a row. Nicholas made a lot of snarky comments about Bella and Edward. Samuel, as expected, couldn't control his snickering during the whole time as more and more was revealed about how the vampires were in Twilight. How they glittered in sunlight and didn't eat anything. Penelope swooned at almost every dialogue between Bella and Edward.

I, on the other hand had a completely different experience. I had watched this movie series almost a hundred times but this time it felt different. Unlike before I didn't feel curious and mesmerised by Edward. I had always believed that one day, I would meet a vampire. Like every other Twilight fan did. But i never thought it would really happen.

It was now that I realised how stupid the movie actually was. Human imagination had indeed reached hilarious level.

I decided on never watching the series ever again and also made a mental note to throw away the books which I had got when I was 14 after a lot of begging from my mother.

"Bella is stupid. How can someone actually date a vampire? He is a hundred years old and feeds only on blood. Eww!" came a comment from Penelope in a much disguested tone.

"The expressions on your face during the whole time gave me some other idea. You didn't like the movies, Penny?" Samuel asked.

"Of course, I did. I mean they're a really cute couple and everything but I would never ever date a vampire." she confessed and I noticed the shift in the air. "But vampires don't really exist, do they?"

Nicholas assured her without any delay, "No they don't."

"Good." She sighed. "Besides if they did, they wouldn't be as good looking as the Cullens, right?"

"Wait... you really think the Cullens are good looking? They look like theyve seen a ghost! Real vampire arent pale! Samuel declared and instantly bit his lips as he realised hed dug his own grave. He continued instantly, Ummm... I mean, I dont think real vampires are pale", he corrected putting an emphasis on 'think'.

Nicholas decided he'd had enough and got up from the couch abruptly. Stomping his feet on the floor, he marched out of the room.

Unlike what I had expected, Penelope didn't follow him but instead decided to stay. We talked for an hour about all nonsensical things, but focussing majorly on our fake relationship. Samuel lied and told Penelope that we'd been on and off for almost a year but now we were officially together. Penelope sent a doubtful look my way and I gulped. Communicating through just facial expression I enquired whether shed bought the story and Samuel gave me an assured smile which translated into something like, 'She's dumb. No chance she didnt buy it.'

"I think I should get to bed too. Where are you sleeping Diana?"

"In my room", Samuel answered instantly. And all I did was nod my head.

"Hmmm. Dont let Dad know though, he wouldnt be okay with that. Goodnight lovebirds!" replied Penelope when she was done wiggling her eyebrows at us.

I followed Samuel and we were back to where I was a few hours ago. He awkwardly eyed his room which still looked perfect, not a thing out of place.

"This house belongs to Mr. Gibson now, Penelopes dad. I stay here for rent though we share the same kitchen and living room, were kind of like a family now, he informed me and I smile. But I could't tell if it was a genuine one or just another forced one. This was originally the Blacks property. Umm... Nicholas' family.", he added when I stared at him with a confused look.

"So he's like old?"

"Almost two hundred years old I guess." he replied and I heard myself gasp. I'm not too old though, just 54." I suppressed the urge to gasp yet again and mouthed an 'Okay' while trying to steady my mind.

"It's unbelievable, you know." Before I knew, the words were out of my mouth. "I actually always believed in supernatural things. But I knew it was foolish of me to do so. Now it's real and all I feel is... well, I don't know." I shrugged and continued, "but it's definitely not what I thought it would feel like."

Samuel sighed and sat on the edge of the bed, "You've changed."

"What?"

"You don't sound like what you did when you entered." He explained in a serious tone. "I think it's realisation."

I laughed, "Of course. I realised that my bestfriend was right all along; Twilight is really a pathetic story." I smiled but it was gone soon and was replaced by a frown. "I want to go home." My voice was soft and barely a whisper.

"Look, I'm sorry you were dragged into this and I think you deserve to know a bit more than you do," he paused to close his eyes for two seconds and opened them again, "You are the only one that can help us because you can't be compelled. And we think the reason why you can't be compelled is because you're a witch."
