Chapter 28 - daylight rings.

I stood in front of the oval bathroom mirror, washing my face as I thought of the dream I had that morning. In a room filled with covered canvases, I found herself standing in front of a huge painting which was dr.a.p.ed with a red satin cloth. Whispers like the ones I had heard the previous night while taking the shower emerged out of the painting, which grew louder as I dragged myself closer to the canvas. I could see the faint outline of a woman through the cloth. I was about to pull off the cloth but was instead pulled out of the dream due to the continued buzzing of Samuel's cell phone.

Ever since I had meet that evil stone-faced vampire my life seemed to have been going downhill. Strange things were happening. But somehow I didn't freak out.

"Hey, Good morning," spoke Samuel as he entered the bathroom with one of his hand gently rubbing an eye and another one on his mouth, trying to hide a yawn.

His dark brown hair was all messy, the upper half of his body was b.a.r.e which made quite a delicious sight for me to stare at.

He noticed my eyes on him and grinned as he picked up a ring from a plank which held all the toiletries.

"Er- Good morning!" I decided on changing the subject but couldn't do anything to hide my reddened cheeks. "Nice ring. Is it a family heirloom or something?" I questioned him just as my gaze fell upon the ring around his finger.

"It's a daylight ring. I hate wearing it but I have no other choice."  I totally understood why he said he hated it. The ring looked ancient; it had a blue stone with silver intricate designs on it. Totally something that didn't go with his style.

"It's a daylight ring you say... care to elaborate?"

"Well, vampires can't go out in the sunlight. They get burnt to ashes, so they wear these to protect themselves."

"So every vampire has a daylight ring? That's how you got out in the sunlight?" Well, at least now I was aware about one of their weaknesses.

"Nah. You see not every vampire is lucky enough to have a witch as a friend."

"A witch? You know a witch? A real one?" I questioned with genuine surprise in my tone to which he nodded.

"You're real and you could very well be a witch. Happy to let you know, we'll get the confirmation today." He winked and sauntered out of the bathroom.

There were just so many questions I wanted to ask him but rather keeped my mouth shut as I knew I wasn't going to get any of them from him.

What is going to happen today? Who is going to visit? Is the person Samuel talking about a witch? The same witch that made him the daylight ring?
