Chapter 7 - are you on vervain?- Part 1

I gulp, feeling both nervous and confused at the same time. When he has leaned in dangerously enough, making me feel tickly all over, he bores his hazel eyes into the bluish mine and speaks clearly, "You are going to forget everything that happened last night. You won't-"

"I don't remember much except-" I interrupt, not breaking the eye contact.

"Whatever it is that you remember, you will forget. You finished your shift last night and went home." I don't pay attention to what he says because I'm too busy focussing on his pupils which dilate and contract with every word he utters. He finishes and pulls his eyes away from mine. Getting up from the bed, he walks towards a chair which holds his jacket and puts it on.

Jerking his head slightly so that he's facing me, he questions, "So do you know who I am?"

I think for a moment and try to remember his name but…

"No." I mean yes I know him as 'the stranger who got me drunk' but apart from that… nothing. Not even his name. He never told you his name, idiot!

Oh.

"Good." He gives a curt nod and advances towards the door but stops dead in his tracks as something flashes across his eyes, "How could I forget…" he mutters and in the literal blink of my eyes I see he's crossed the whole distance from the door to the bed which is about 3 metres?!

"How did you--"

I feel iron clamps lock around my arms yet again which happen to be actually his hands, he bores his eyes into mine and speaks, "If anyone asks you about your neck, tell them you ran into some nails on a wall." A corner of his mouth twitches like he's about to laugh but nope. He gets up and makes a stroll towards the door and I sit watching him stupidly.

What the hell?!

"I can think of a better reason than that one." I snap, getting up from the bed feeling furiously stupid! Somehow this time my knees don't buckle away and it's an end to the torture on the bed.

I get it- he doesn't want anyone to know what happened between us and I'm absolutely fine with it but the lame reason he's expecting me to give to people? No thanks.

"What did you say?" his tone is highly coated with surprise. Finally, some emotion!

"What you heard. Look I agree- even I want to keep this just to ourselves because hooking up with a random stranger on the very day I broke up with my boyfriend… that's something I don't want anyone to know." I say while I pick up my phone and handbag from the bedside table. "But that's a stupid reason! No one would believe it- I mean walk into nails?" I chuckle sarcastically.

He shakes his head and takes two steps towards me. We're standing close, inches apart yet again and I see confusion in his eyes, "Why isn't this working? Are you on vervain?" he asks but shakes his head again, a look of panic replaces his confused one. "Can't be. I drank your blood…" he mutters to himself but I catch what he says and gasp.

"What?"

He pulls me closer, his hands grip my arms so tightly that it hurts. He gaze is on my eyes when he says, "You're going to do as I say."

Breaking the eye contact, I try to shrug him off but he has me captured in an iron-tight grip. "Let go of me!" I yell.

No matter how much I apply the strength my tiny body can muster up I can't free myself from him. The possibilities of what he can do shoot up in mind and I feel the fear rising. His face twitches, right below his eyes. What happens next stops me from struggling further.

Everything happens in slow motion. His eyes formerly hazel, have now become completely black, with the remaining eyeball gaining a blood red colour. The facial part twitching earlier blackens, highlighting the veins in a dangerous manner. Gulping I takes my eyes away to his mouth which manages to make me scream. His canines have extended, like the kind only…
