Blue Citadel: An Overlord Fanfiction

Chapter 46 - 「Village Life II」

Hours had gone by, silence filled the Fortress which loomed over the Carne Village. Jack laid there on satin sheets in the room across the hall of the Study. His eyes shifting over to the calm shallow breathing Ninya, who was sleeping. Her entire person covered in sweat.

He smiled lightly, before slowly sitting up and stretching.

"That was a good time," he muttered quietly to himself as he would take a cold cloth and gently dab her forehead and her back. It wasn't healthy to be continuously covered in one's sweat. They could get sick, so caring was something he had to do for someone he sought to need. When he was done he made his way out of the room after getting redressed.

That's when he stopped and glanced over his shoulder towards her, l.i.c.k.i.n.g his lips slightly as he would take out a jeweled blue ring and place it on her ring finger.

If he left her here without a guild ring, she wouldn't be able to open any of the doors.

The last thing he needed was someone being trapped in a room and soiling themselves. He shivered at the thought of having to clean that up. Even in the life he came from he didn't have that much of a strong stomach when it came to that kind of work.

Jack made his way out of the fortress, emerging from the front entrance a few minutes later.

His eyes rested on the sky as he stepped outside. That was until he lowered his vision just in time to see a flying blond smash into his c.h.e.s.t. Comedically, he could have fallen down, followed the momentum. Instead, the poor girl who launched herself, practically hit a fleshy wall and clung to him like a koala.

There was a slight whimper of pain escaping her lips as he looked down.

He then glanced passed her towards the other little blond and shook his head. "What the…?" Jack tried prying her off, of course without hurting her. However it seemed she was making quite the fuss.

"What's going on…?"

"Don't leave Dear Sister Alone!"

"What?"

"Don't do it! Don't do it!"

Jack was completely and utterly confused. Why was he leaving? His eyes gazed over the little creatures as one of them hugged his leg. "Uh… Please let go before you get hurt."

"Don't. Do. It."

"Don't do, what?" Jack tried shaking his leg, he didn't like being touched by people without permission or his own intent. "Eh..." He seemed to w.h.i.n.e in annoyance. "Get off, before I punt you over the gate."

The twins continued to cling. Speaking nonsense about leaving their older sister behind.

「Teleportation」

The moment he vanished the twins like toy blocks would topple to the ground, landing on one another with the sound of squeaky toys.

"Oi..." Jack was now a few meters away, looking at them as they were giggling and dusting themselves off. "I'm not leaving your sister behi–" They looked over at him with these big smiles and took a step towards him. "Uh..." Slowly turning away from them, he rushed towards the gate as they ran after him with their arms wide open. "Nope!"

「Teleportation」Appearing at the bottom of the steep stairwell to the fortress, he glanced up towards the doors of the front gate. There they were, on the top platform, jumping with joy. Hands clasped together and chanting something about Big Sister.

"Children Scare me..." Jack took an uncomfortable step back before turning away from the fortress and glancing over towards the village. "Now where's Arche. She has to do something about the children coming to the Fortress alone."

His eyes shifted side to side, yet he didn't see her walking around. She wasn't outside from what he could see. His eyes rested on the Inn, she could be there. He had expanded her restricted area of movement to within the walls. So where could she possibly be?

"Hm?" Turning his head, there was blonde haircut just at the bottom of his vision. It was about the right height. His eyes shifted down to see a girl wearing a robe with sturdy clothes.

"Have you seen my litt..." Arche's blue eyes rested on him for a second before she angled her body to the side to see the jumping giggling twins skipping down the steps. "Oh?"

"The little brats tried to me kill me, please don't let them." Jack of course was joking, but at the same time he was practically telling the truth. They had attempted to tackle him and impede his movement.

"I'm sure they didn't," Arche scoffed at this and shook her head. "So I heard you did quite well in the Capital," she commented with her arms folded over her c.h.e.s.t. "When's the coronation?"

"Fifteen days, just about." Jack nodded lightly before tilting his head to the side.

"And the nobles you wanted to 'Recycle'?" The girl was rather curious about the status of the nobles he was planning on killing or at least demoting. She knew what that was like, her family had fallen because of it in the Baharuth Empire. Though her family was originally lucky they hadn't been put to death or massacred like the others.

"Happens on the same day, but I already got rid of the mole who was bought out by the Empire." Jack chuckled as if it was his triumph.

"Ah..." Arche just nodded and lulled her head a bit, holding a faint straight lipped smile on her lips as she heard of the bloodshed. Her eyes then shifted towards the women which were getting used to the village quickly. They were all from other villages or even from the Royal Capital itself. They were lucky they didn't come back in worse shape. Most of them even decided they wished to stay here as they could support one another. While others either shut themselves in or already planned to leave in the coming days. "So what's the plan for the women you saved?"

"Ninya and some others saved them," Jack corrected before scratching the back of his neck. "I'm sure they'll be able to start new lives here."
