Border Guardian Hal Akircius

Chapter 9: Cilentium's Spring of the Year and Mining Articles

Suburbs of Cilentium City and near Nanjo Gate

The long-awaited spring arrived.

The peasants plow the fields out of their families and sow the wheat, sprinkling the water.

Farming is the only job left for farmers, as waterway and nursery maintenance has already been completed during the winter months.

Those who did not receive land in Oran or Cliffonam's homeland and had no other way but to become freedom fighters, craftsmen and craftsmen to work in the empire and elsewhere, were also putting out their finesse in farming, which they were accustomed to being given land in Cilentium.

Those who initially worked like day labourers until then on a promise of three years have also been given farmland in advance because farm maintenance is almost complete, and the number of farmers in Cilentium has swelled up at once.

In spite of the harsh labor, those engaged in agriculture were filled with a smile that was always brilliant.

The wetlands that were spreading to the southwest are also almost complete with more and more settlers now, but rumors call for more and more of the population of Cilentium has swelled, and the population of Cilentium now stands at 70,000 only for those who have been registered as a family.

This is the result of a census carried out by Sittius on the basis of the family registry by order of Dresines.

Since the freedom fighters became Northern Legion soldiers and were given stable salaries, it is also significant that they were married or called in family from their homeland, and that the Imperial Veterans came to Cilentium with large numbers of family members.

Just because there is still room for farmland, mainly in the former wetlands of the southwest, the Cilentium has declared internally and externally that it will continue to receive settlers.

Hal went home to see a fiction bee on the outskirts of Cilentium and went out with a strange group.

The group's characteristic frontal clothing, low back length, and gusty body make them immediately known to Westerners living on the western continent.

I wonder if they want to migrate, they have about ten carriages that look sturdy, some of which apparently have families because they have children.

The mid thirty year old woman, who is at the head of it, covered her head with cloth, finds Hal, replaces your podium with another man, and jumps off the carriage with a flicker.

She is not beautiful, but she has spoken with a personable grin on her loving face.

"Do you have a minute? I'd like to ask you something.

"What is it?

When Hal responds honestly, the woman says with a deeper grin.

"Oh, that's a good attitude for an imperial, what, don't worry about that one now, it's over here. There's nothing else I'd like to ask, I'm in the administration of the city of Cilentium, and I don't like a man named Sittius, do you know where I can find him?

"Is that Mr. Sittius? I'll show you.

Hal was confused for a moment because I would say it all at once shortly after I pinched his mouth, but I could understand that he wanted directions anyway, so I replied about that part, and the woman turned her eyes round.

"Whoa, whoa, how far are people good? You don't want to be an Imperial! But let's say it's sweet for your taste.

The woman signaled the carriage she was leading when she said so with a smile on her face, followed by Hull.

Near Cilentium South Castle Gate

"This is another... spectacular castle gate, isn't it?

The women and their companions were overwhelmed by the beauty of the south castle gate of Cilentium.

It is a beauty and a prestige that also enters the five fingers within the Empire.

The children rounded their eyes and looked up at the castle gate through which they would climb, and the adults were blinded by the noise and prosperity in the city they could see.

The street trees are simultaneously blown with yellow-green young buds, casting their shadows on the marble used in the buildings of Cilentium.

The water turns a clean running water sound into something a little warm, and the waterfall-like water falling off the water bridge wraps the women with a soothing comfort by spreading a bump around them.

Until then, in such a glorious city, there were few words, and smiles began to be seen of those who had a dark face.

After a while, this group of people who have traveled a long distance praise the beauty of the city with all their faces flattered and rarely look at and criticize the product when referring to the streets where the hopeful blue sky market is open.

Imperial copper coins and silver coins are flourishing, mixed with imperial, eastern photographers, Oran, and Cliffonam merchants and merchants, and you can also see Halemians and Shirukhas in the distance.

All the soldiers who pass through the street from time to time are large, blonde, and undisputed Cliffonam, but their gear was entirely made of empire, and they entered a hall that I don't think is called the Northern Barbarian to walk in exact formation.

"What a strange city... it's like you're dreaming.

Hal, who was walking in front, looks back and says to a woman who leaks words in a flair such as no other to admire.

"Aren't you all going to be joining us soon?

"Heh heh, yeah, I'm sure it would be fun to do that.

With an unyielding smile, the woman answered with heartfelt pleasure.

Before Cilentium Administration

"Please wait here for a moment, I'll get Mr. Sittius.

"Wait, wait, I can't say goodbye here. Then why don't you tell me your name? I'm Petra Suidella, a Western country in the empire, and I'm the leader of a shitty mining corps.

The woman, Petra, hastily called Hal, who had tried to enter the administration sooner.

Hal nodded in his face that he was convinced to look back at the voice.

"A miner? Oh, were you the spirited miner?

"... who is it?

He was a group of petra and miners who were given a light identity and set up, but Hal answered the question with a good-looking smile from a person.

"I'm late, I'm Hal Akircius, border guard for the Imperial North. This is Teng, who asked Mr. Sittius to invite you all.

"... tough joke, no way you..."

Petra uttered a frightened voice and looked to heaven.

Petra and the others, who entered the administration as they were with Hal's guidance, round their eyes to the administration building, which was unbeatable and neatly maintained throughout the town.

It is only natural that the exfoliated marble is beautifully polished, but it is precisely surfacing everywhere that you will not know unless you touch it directly.

"... that's a big deal, there's nothing else in the administration that's been so elaborately decorated. How much money do you have?

"Haha... actually, that's practice.

"Practice?"

Petra looks surprised at Hal for laughing and saying.

"Yes, a lot of people have come to learn technology, and there are no more buildings to sculpt decorations, which is why this administrative building has been discovered while searching for buildings that have not yet been decorated. Well, even this one doesn't mind the building becoming beautiful, so in case it fails, my parents promised to fix it, and I'm free to do it.

"At all, it's a really unusual place to cooperate in the development of apprenticeships and let them sculpt into administrative buildings.

"Are you crazy?

To Hull's answer, Petra replied with a smile when Hull asked about it.

"Oh, that's extreme, but I like it! Including you.

"Thanks for that.

When Hal laughed at the words, he led Petra to the office.

Sittius was already waiting in the office, as usual, for thick material in one hand.

"Oh, Mrs. Sudera, it's been a long time. Get there soon..."

"You look good there too... I'm glad you got there sooner than I thought. So, you're letting us mine?

When Petra responds to Sittius' words with a slightly stiffer voice than when he was talking to Hull, Sittius answers by stopping his hand from carrying out the materials.

"No, you don't. I am not the one who requests the mining, I am the border guardian, and I am Lord Achillus, the chief administrator of this Cilentium.

"... that's a pain in the ass when you say that again, but, Mr. Sittius is right, I'm the one who called you guys.

When Hal takes Sittius' word for it, Petra responds with a slightly relieved face.

"You did... but I think you and I are going to make it. So, it's quick and bad, but where do I mine what?

"Now, please take this drawing.

"Thank you... Mr. Petra, come this way, too.

Hearing Petra's words, Sittius nodded and took one map out of the dossier, indicating it to Hull.

Hal receives the map, and when he pays tribute to Sittius, he spreads it on his desk, calls Petra, and when Petra approaches, opens his mouth showing the point marked Copper and Iron on on that map.

"Here and here, I'd like to ask you to mine the copper and iron mines in the North Side Mountains to the south of here.

Hull explained that the digging had already been completed, that the streets were directly connected from the Cilentium and that the dwellings and urban installations had already begun to be built, and Petra agreed to open the mining district.

The water is used to weir down what used to flow from the Northern Mountains into the former wetlands, and in addition, it turns the water wheel with this water to serve as the power source for the mining district.

The name of the city is Colonia Fellum.

The mayor is Petra, of course.

But even so, Petra's miners are the only ones for the time being, so representation is not granted.

Petra's identity will also be positioned more like a city representative like Hellionel and Leysink than a mayor.

Petra slowly cut it out at the end of the conversation, including the terms of employment.

"What's your share?

Sittius responded immediately.

"I'm the one on the matter... and I don't have your share in principle.

"... what do you mean?

To the words of Sittius, Petra frowning.

But without being frightened by it, Sittius took over the words.

"You're right. We will buy all your mined and refined metals.

"You can't buy it... it's not a fixed price, is it?

"Of course, we will trade at a fair price after doing market research each time, but naturally, we will have the location, residence and amenities, so we will discount that portion.

Petra's voice, which disproves Sittius' words, is stiff, but the opposing Sittius is extremely calm and answers without moving one eyebrow muscle.

"Isn't that a little rampant?

Starting with Petra's words, Sittius changed his expression and said it with a face like a do-over.

"Then... you may pick it up. Because there are other people who want to mine here.

"Wouldn't the union be silent?

Now Petra says just fine, but Sittius, who is back faceless again, does not move.

"I invited you through the union, didn't I? If the conditions don't fold, I'll just ask for another referral. What will you do?

Sittius and Petra stare at each other for a while.

Petra smiled slowly as she fumbled at Hal's face as she quietly watched her turn on the side.

"What's wrong?

"No, nothing... nothing.

When Hal asked with a smile, Petra shook her neck left and right and said.

The breadth and ease of sight and lack of discriminating consciousness of Hal's high-ranking imperial officials and others is definitely the biggest reason for the comfort of this city.

Including the unfavourable Sittius, but I guess he's just a competent subordinate who can make good use of the atmosphere of what stands on the head of the city and work.

No matter what city I went to, I was abhorred as spreading mineral poison, and I gave up on the idea that I had no choice but to stay long, but not only did I deliberately invite myself to do so, but they even prepared residential areas and refineries.

Not to mention saying I'll make myself a mayor who's just the head of the miner's regiment.

In Petra's view, considerable amounts of iron and copper lie at the northern foothills of this northerly mountain range, which is enough to be mined semi-permanently.

If we do well, we can invite a couple of miners like ourselves, and in conjunction with other residential recruitment, we can create our own city of miners.

This young and attractive border guard officer said the building of the city has already ended its foundational part and will do whatever it takes to notify the miners of their recruitment and future development.

Having come to the conclusion that there would probably be no more favourable treatment within his life, Petra began to talk to make sure.

"You can't take that condition off, which means... you don't want the people in the empire to know where the metal came from, do you?

"That's right.

Hal answers Petra's question clearly without knowing that Sittius slightly distorts his face.

I can also like these attitudes.

I would have to live up to that trust.

"Most importantly, it's hard to say that you'll hire me for the time being until mining is on track. Normally, you don't have any money until you're profitable. Besides, this is an untouched mine that's already finished digging, profitability will fit right in... and there's no such cozy land, because we wanted to calm down too. Let's agree to that kind of constraint..."

"So?"

To Hull's inquiry, Petra grinned with a grin

"Yeah, fine. We're the miners of Cilentium. I'll leave it to you, I won't let you regret it!
