As if it wasn't awkward enough, Greg's next words threw the whole atmosphere off scale.

"Do you love that rascal?"

"When will you tell him you love him?"

"When are you going to marry my son?"

With those three statements shamelessly uttered, even Joy and Clara's conversation ended.

"Dad!" Frank looked at his dad disapprovingly. Joy couldn't help but move closer to smack her husband across his back.

"You'll scare the girl away!" She warned sternly.

The look on Clara's face wasn't any better.

'What did uncle mean? Do they really plan on approving their relationship? What about me? My feelings? No, this mustn't go on like this,' she thought to herself .

Before anyone could speak up, her voice sounded clearly across the room.

"Flora," she started as she laughed awkwardly. "Don't mind uncle. He's just always like this. I remember the time that ..."

She went on story mode about all the funny encounters she had with Greg, reminiscing about their relationship as potential in-laws over the years. She also made sure to mention how she grew up with Frank, and how close both families were.

After what seemed like forever, Flora calmly interrupted her speech.

"And Frank told me he was the only child. From what you've said so far, you guys grew up just like siblings. No wonder you know the family so well. In the future, I'll need your guidance sister Clara."

She smiled sincerely as she looked at Clara who didn't hide the shock on her face. Not only Flora saw it, even Joy tried to suppress her laughter. She had to applaud her son's girlfriend for handling the situation well.

"You're right, Flora. Clara is my best friend's daughter, so we pretty much raised our children as siblings. We also hope to create more memories with you." She moved closer to Flora and held her hands.

Clara was still shocked and didn't know what to say. She had tried to be thick-skinned and fight for her love, but her competitor was even more thick-skinned. She was on the verge of a breakdown.

"Aunty, uncle, I still have an appointment later. I'll come visit you another time."

She didn't wait for anyone to reply before bolting out of the room. With everyone out of sight, she burst out crying. Everyone in that room knew of her feelings for Frank, but no one cared. She felt humiliated and heartbroken at the same time.

After crying until her tears ran out, she adjusted her mood and began to take her leave.

"I really hope you move on this time Clara. I've always seen you as a sister, and I don't want our "issues" to ruin the bond between our families."

Frank's voice stilled her.
