Broken Destiny

Chapter 7 - Capitulum 5 - A Myth

"I'm sorry," she says, tears welling up in her eyes.

This made Leomord stop and dismount himself from the horse, leaving her sitting on the saddle.

"Whatever for?" he asks, confusion in his tone. His face was scrunched up.

"I'm sorry for arriving late. I'm sorry for not being here in time. If only I woke up too soon, the things you told me shouldn't have happened. This is all my fau--"

"Hey. No. It's not your fault," he soothes her.

"No. No. The blame is on me--"

"Then, I should've mentioned your story to the queen earlier."

Lunox is confused. What story? "What are you saying?"

He sighs before guiding Barbiel by his leash to the castle, "I was actually the one who summoned you here. I mean... with the help of the kingdom's mage, I summoned you here."

"You... you summoned me here?" she asks.

"Yeah. I did."

This made her stop. No wonder why his voice sounded so familiar! And his red eye!

But there was something buzzing in her stomach. Telling her that this was not the only time she's met him. But she shook it off.

"So you are the owner of the mysterious voice whom of which, I heard in the chamber I was sleeping in?" she inquires, hoping that her thoughts were right. She wanted it to be him, for some unknown reason.

"You heard?" he asks, not looking at her.

"Yep. It was actually the first thing I heard."

"But I thought... you were sleeping?"

"Well... you broke the spell!"

He looks up at her and sees her smiling brightly. He stopped walking, fazed by her smile.

"Leo? Hello?" she said, laughter in her voice, while waving her hand in front of his face.

He shakes his head before continuing with his walk towards the gate of the castle.

"Leomord, what took you so long?" Vexana's body emerged from the hallway up above the long staircase found in the middle of the castle.

"And I see you brought a living girl, with you," Vexana says, emphasizing the word living.

"Your Majesty. I am terribly sorry for arriving so lat--"

"It wasn't his fault, I'm sorry," Lunox interjected before lightly bowing for the royal Vexana.

Vexana's eyebrow shot up, "and who must you be, miss?"

"I am Lu--"

"She is the one we've all been waiting for, Your Majesty. The Enlightined One, as you say. Lunox," Leomord exclaims, hope and happiness in his voice.

"Nonsense! The Enlightened One is only a myth! A story. You should stop living in that fantasy world of yours, Leomord. Wake up! This is reality," Vexana said in a cruel and cold manner.

"Your Majes--"

"I told you to go out and clear your head, Leomord. The trip must have not done you well. Leave, and take that human girl with you."

Vexana turns away from them.

Without any second thought, Lunox makes her way up the stairs. Carefully trying not to trip as she ran.

"Luno--"

She held Vexana's wrist, stopping her from moving away.

"What are you doing?! Stop it. Leave, I say!" Vexana angrily exclaims, trying to pull back her wrist.

"Give me a chance, Your Majesty! And I will prove to you, that I am what you all call the Enlightened One," Lunox softly says.

Vexana stopped struggling before sighing, "alright. Go on. Prove it."

Lunox smiles lightly before making her hands glow in bright, golden light.

For a moment, Vexana felt alive again. The bitter and cold heart she had, for a moment, felt light and warm.

The euphoric feeling only lasted for seconds until it was gone again.

Lunox let Vexana's wrist go.

"How... how did you do that?" Vexana stutters, before c.a.r.e.s.sing the wrist Lunox held.

Lunox only smiled before moving away for space.

Vexana stares and at Leomord and sees him with that 'I-told-you-so' look.
