Broken Tower Saga: The First Swordsman

Chapter 55: The First Lesson (2)

"As you all know, Omeganet enumerates the eight basic compounds of your body in the status window. Which are Strength, Agility, Constitution, Vitality, Intelligence, Magic power, Perception, and Luck. I should not need to explain what each of the attributes represents. Does anyone know what the increased value of each attribute is measured by?"

"Isn't it the 10% increase of the previous number?" Michelle said from behind Tanya. "As far as I know, 1 stat point value is 10% factor of the previous number."

Wrik frowned at what the girl said. He calculated inside his head the number and found it to be quite authentic. While the other still looked confused, well, apart from Tanya, that is.

"Yes, you're right." Sophia nodded. "With each increase of a number, that stat would improve by 10%, you guys get it." She looked at a few of the faces that were still oblivious of what she was saying.

Anton was one of them, so was Davin and the others. They seemed to get the idea of a 10% increase but there's still doubt in their head.

Sophia shook her head. "Let's make it easier. Suppose you have 10 points on strength, with that 10 points you could lift about 100kg at most right." She continued seeing everyone's approval. "So if your strength rises to 11 points you would get boast of 10% and then could lift 110kg, easy math. What I'm saying is if the number turned 12 then the 10% boost would continue with the factor of the previous number '110', not—'100'. So with 12 points in strength, you could lift 121 kgs.

"It may seem only a little increase of 1 kg but after the number stacks for a few tens of times it would be an absurd number." She continued seeing everyone get what she said. "You could calculate later in your free time."

Wrik didn't need to wait for later; he had already started the calculation in his head when Michelle first answered the question. So, 1 point for 10%, 2 for 21%, 3 for 33.1%, 4 for 46.4%. .. and when the number raises to10 points the boast would also raise to an absurd 148%.

That means the higher the stat you have the more difficult it would get to raise it up. The answer to why his mental stats: Perception, Intelligence, and ManaMaha were so slow in growth as most of them already crossed thirty marks or quite close to twenty-five.

Sophia wetted her lips before saying again. "So, growing the attribute becomes harder the higher your start becomes. That's why most Mahasayer are advised to save the free stat points after each Omega origin advancement."

Anton raised his arm upon hearing that.

"Yes?" Sophia said, looking at Anton.

Anton opened his mouth, seeing the approval from Sophia. "I don't know whether or not anyone here has advanced to rank D, but the issue was that I was given 2 points after advancing from E to D. Why is that?"

"You actually advanced in that short time of the Trial. I guess you are not just good at dancing." Sophia was a bit surprised. It was not that easy to advance even from the lowest rank. "As for the issue, the number would increase again after you advance to rank C, and each time it would double the previous number. So after the assimilation with the Origin seed, your existence automatically raised to E rank and got 1 free point as a gift, then for D it's 2, 4 for C, and so on."

Wrik raised his eyebrow at that. He asked out loud, "Where does this free stat point come from? I mean, is it benefit from the Omeganet?"

"Saying this reward from Omeganet is. .. Wrong." Sophia opened her mouth with uncertainty. It's the first time she was uncertain about anything. "As far as I know, with each advancement your body radiates with some amount of energy, it starts to escape from your body as your body is incapable of storing everything, that's when the Origin seed comes into play. It collects most of the escaping energy and stores it inside as free stat point."

Wrik's eyes turned bigger. It seems Sophia wasn't holding back anything from them. Though it explained only a few parts of the issue, it's still better than nothing.

"Well, the actual process is more complicated than what I said; I don't know much about these as it's not my speciality. There's an entire branch of Designer for that."

"Designer, you mean Omega Designer?" Wrik asked the blonde instructor again. He had heard that term before. In the summoning room, the guide had said that they needed a decent Omega Designer to explain the characteristics of Omega origin. "Can you tell me what a designer actually is?"

"We're diverging from the main topic more, but it wouldn't hurt to water your thrust as most of you looked interested in this topic," Sophia said. "A Designer is a Class actually, like a Mage, Swordsman or Healer. But the Designer leans more towards the development than actual combat. As you know, all matter, living or dead, is made of Omega codes or Axi codes in the old tongues. A Designer is someone who can alter or distort the code according to their wills. They are like alchemists but more on a deeper level. Do you get the idea what they do now?"

Wrik nodded. Now he had a somewhat understanding of Designer.

"Each of Omega Designers is precious, even the Omega Council put effort into cultivating and promoting young budding Designers."

Wrik noted everything Sophia said in his mind, and his interest in Omega Designer raised to another level.

"You seemed to like the path of Designer?" Sophia asked him, seeing that he's more excited than his usual self.

"I don't know actually, I guess there's no harm in checking it out."
