Charis walked out with gait light as a feather and strode towards the ingress of the garden holding the flare of her dress a little above her ankles, though it was already caked with mud at places. She glided forward passing through the corridor with the trio of maids trailing behind her, dumbstruck and looking at each other with thousands of unuttered questions.

"What were you trying to play Charis ? Do you have any idea that you brought a peril upon you just now ?"

Ezlynn plunged forward and grabbed a hold of her wrist to make Charis halt, who was in ninth sky. And perhaps didn't hear a single scolding let alone sensing Ezlynn's angry tone.

"Charis what are you trying to do ? Bringing doom upon us ?"

Ezlynn darted her eyes into Charis's who just now grew wary.

"Eh ? What ? What happened ? Why are you shouting ?"

She twisted her arm to break free from her embrace while questioning with perplexity .

"You do not know what you have done ? Seriously Charis do you even want to live ?"

She could register the clouds of danger lurking behind Ezlynn's worrisome expressions. Seren and Eire remained rooted there with chins down-ostensibly manifesting their disappointment in her early behaviour.

"Why are you saying something like that ? I just taught her a lesson. Moreover it was HER who started."

Charis gritted, sounding quizzical; clearly not knowing what blunder she just committed.

"SO WHAT ? You could have keep quiet like you did before The National Master. BUT NO ! You needed to pick up a FIGHT."

Her shoulders stiffened; it was purely reflexive as Ezlynn unleashed her anger loudly.

"I needed to defend my a.s.s Ezlynn. You people do not understand how it is like to be treated like an insect when you always have been a princess. I DID WHAT WAS RIGHT TO ME. I HAVE MY SELF RESPECT. And why do you want me to live by suppressing myself ? I AM NOT inferior to you or to these people."

She emphasized the latter words raising her voice in rage. Her pride got hurt; the emotions that had been agitating her all the day burst out on Ezlynn. Thumping her heels on the marble Charis hurried towards the staircase that opened the portal of her chamber. The ancient walls around were engrossed with canny and shrewd aura. Her innocent tears were a misfit for that resplendent history.

"You hurt her Ezlynn. She is a princess too and it is not easy for her to come down at our level. The way she is being treated like a taboo by others."

Seren whispered, hesitating stepping closer to her while witnessing Charis ascending.

"I know Seren but did she consider what she was doing while picking up a quarrel with her highness ? Did she consider that it would cost us our life too along with hers ?"

Ezlynn vented her thoughts knowing that Charis jumped into fire by provoking the queen.

"She is naive and innocent Ezlynn. Charis is young enough to lose her emotional balance."

Eire aided in the conversation patting on Ezlynn's shoulder gently.

"If so , she would better watch out about her opponent before stepping into the battlefield."

She almost roared out of frustration, defensively to her argument.

"Do not go that far. I'm sure we will be able to settle down everything. Why don't we make Charis agree upon asking for forgiveness to her highness ?"

Eire blurted out all she could think at that brief moment to save their heads.

"No. That won't do anything now. You know her highness is aggressive and have not spared anyone till now. Ugh Charis ! You better come up with something to save us all."

Ezlynn growled not knowing what to do. All she could think of was to bump her head against a wall.

"We should talk to her. Ezlynn you scolded the poor soul badly."

Seren tried to sooth her nerves by rubbing Ezlynn's palm.

"I did what was expected in that situation. Do not blame me now."

The more they tried to lower her anger it lifted her spirit to extra.

"Okey. Now will you follow us to the chamber ? We all need to clear up things and come up sith a reasonable solution."

Seren leaped for her arm and dragged her behind while Eire followed them both towards the spiral staircase.

Guarding the East Wing arcade the guards in shiny silver armour raised their chins as the trio stepped into the arcade.

"You knock Seren."

Eire hid herself behind Ezlynn's silhouette afraid of an angry alien creature.

"Step back I will knock. I have to face the music whether it will cost me; my life."

Ezlynn pushed back Seren and knocked on that ancient enormous door, grooved by centuries and touched by the vestiges of faded gold dye.

"Open up Charis. We need to talk. okey."

No one responded from inside that made the trio creased with worry. It was not customary for Charis to ignore them like that but today was perhaps an exception because her soul got shredded by thorns of words.

"Charis I'm sorry okey. Do not scare us like this. Open up."

Ezlynn knocked again forcefully in desperation. But no living being voiced from inside.

"Charis please let us in. We seriously need to talk. Remember we are friends and friends sort out everything by discussion."

Seren tried her best to make Charis open the lock reminding her of good times, pleading endlessly. But no sound came from inside instead a messenger dashed in the arcade appearing from the staircase, his brows brought together due to worry.

"Where is she ? That spite-where is she ?"

He yelled walking forward, asking for Charis.

"She-She is inside. What happened? Is everything alright?"

Ezlynn feared that he brought the edict of their death sentence. Before the man could narrate the reason of his sudden intrusion Seren shouted frantically.

"Look at the sky. Oh heavens ! What curse is this ?"

Clasping her hem of dress she stepped backwards at the sight of ash black clouds emerging in the blue sky. Ezlynn bravely took some baby steps forward towards the wall opposite Charis's chamber, which had huge arcs in it for an outside view.

"What is this sight ? It never occured before in history."

Analysing the outside atmosphere Ezlynn questioned the messenger quizzically. The ink of cursed darkness was engulfing the sky, shedding out every ray of hope.

"The National Master does not know either what is this. But he is sure that the heavens are punishing us for giving refuge to that THING. My Lord is outside- do not let that snake leave this room or else I will kill her myself."

The messenger shouted angrily and left the corridor leaving the guards and the trio in daze.

"Heavens please bless us. Have mercy on us."

Eire joined her hands and started murmuring prayers. While Ezlynn landed a loud blow with her palm radiating a blue wave, on the huge golden door of the chamber.
