Calla Lily, The Eunuch King's Goblin Bride

Chapter 19 - Saviour Of His Highness

[Rumbles]

The moment Theon and his chaperones entered the damp forest, the skies started to roar like the heavens were angry and dark clouds which covered up the entire canvas began to thicken. It grew dark and almost making it seem like night in the bright daylight. The thunder lightning added more horrible effects by brightening up the whole area as if the heavens themselves were fighting in rage.

Theon and the party suddenly got drenched by a heavy pour, the pathway became muddy making it impossible to walk. The rain drops were unsually bigger and felt heavy for the soldiers. Instantly a huge gust of wind passed by King Theon and his soldiers disrupting their formations, making the carriage n.a.k.e.d and leaving everyone puzzled.

After the wind storm had passed away the weather became calm and alarmingly sombre with moderate measured rainfall, Every soldier was perplexed as to what was just happened. Deep down frightful because they had no knowledge of what passed by.

As everything seemed to be perfectly normal, the water droplets which were falling onto King Theon and his soldiers turned into sharp icicles falling from the sky. As the soldiers just settled into their positions, the rain of needles fell upon them.

All the soldiers got pummeled by the force but somehow survived due to their helmets and Armor. Every soldier went as far as to hide under the horses. The poor animals were themselves injured and seemed panicked. The men left King Theon and ran for their lives finally taking shelter under the trees on the either sides of the muddy road.

Only Theodore hung with King Theon and cut the connections of his two horses which were attached to Theon's carriage as the horses were hopping in fear and were literally throwing Theon along all sides of carriage.

The icicle rain seemed to have stopped too. The soldiers who were new to out of life experience started wailing and crying remembering their families. But a different moment was taking place elsewhere.

The vines of the trees that the soldiers were hiding at, taking shelter under seemed to be moving unnaturally. The vines and the branches of trees suddenly coiled around the limbs and necks of the soldiers, strangling them to death.

Some of the vines started growing thorns and instantly caused death to two of the soldiers as the thorns Pierced their neck slowly and painfully. Perhaps mocking to them the pains they gave to others.

"Your Majesty! We should help our soldiers. I will stick close to you and will protect." Theodore chipped and strode towards the soldiers.

Suddenly a hand pulled him by grabbing the arm of Theodore. "Theodore are you dumb? Protect me. You should not leave your king in solitary." Theon yelled while his eyes showed scared expressions with brows in fraction.

"My lord! Do not get out of the carriage. I will be right back!" Theodore stormed off to the soldiers and started cutting the vines in a hope to save a few, the vines however were so sturdy and hard to slash as if were controlled by powerful dark magic, even with a strike from an experienced soldier.

On the other hand. Some vines had approached the carriage of Theon and started encircling it, crushing the walls.

Theon got off the carriage out of fear and ran towards Theodore. Who got himself stuck in group of vines, Theodore's mouth got stuffed with thorn growing vines as the blood drips off. He was not able to move his body but his arms were reaching out to his king's, he was sure he will be saved in some way by his almighty king.

Theon glances at the two soldiers Theodore tried to protect. They are almost saved with most of the vines slashed. Theon grasping the situation takes the sword from the hands of Theodore. A hint of happiness could be seen on the face of Theodore that his king was going to protect him.

But Theon moves to the two soldiers who were fighting against lesser number of vines and sets them free. Theodore is left dumbstruck that his long old friend whom he taught sword skills, just went back to the middle of the muddy road with the two young soldiers he saved from the vines.

Theon traded the life of his so called friend who was old and strength-less  with the lives of two young and full of vigour soldiers.

The vines split the neck of Theodore into two with the rest of all six soldiers and then loosened their lifeless bodies on the ground.

"You both better protect me with your lives, or I will torment your families at home." Theon orders the last two soldiers which were beside him on their guards with swords out.

Theon and the two soldiers were puzzled of no vines in the sight as they vanished like never existed. Suddenly a strike of lightning hit the carriage behind them setting it on fire. The heart of Theon almost stopped with the loud sound behind him. The soldiers were also taken by surprise.

He abnormalities of nature did not stopped here. The very land that the three were standing on suddenly split in two. The last of two soldiers completely fell into the endless pit below. Theon however was holding the edge of the earth and tried to climb up, his feet could not find any support to push his body up, the mud seemed to come into play while dragging Theon slowly into the pits.

"N-noo save me! Somebody save the king, I can not die this way." Theon yelled on the top of his lungs as his hand got slippery making his vision blurred.

"Are you ok? Can you hear me?" Theon who thought he fell into the endless pit of hell was saved by a mysterious man holding his arm . He pulled Theon up with ease. His clothes did not distinguished whether he belonged to royalties or was an Assassin. Though he was wearing dark black clothes with a same shaded cheap fur robe on his shoulders.
