Cat In Another World

"Every monster has a core. The mana circulating in their body comes from this" the old man then took out a small crystal that was as big as a thumb.

After showing it he then continued. "Which is why this is their most vital spot so if ever you were to break it then the mana contained inside would leak. After that, with the supply of mana gone. The monster is as good as dead! As mana equals to their life itself!"

"Though they also have a heart like us some of them possesses a regenerative ability that could heal their heart and kill you as you do your victory dance! That is why we take out their cores. To prevent them from regenerating using the mana inside the core. So to successfully kill a monster you either have to break their core or destroy their heart immobilising them for a moment then take the chance to carve out their core!"

"Cores are precious and could be sold for a high price depending on their quality. So if you want to kill a monster without making any profit then I suggest you break the core if you can. But if you can handle a bit of hardship then you can weaken the monster take out their heart then bring home the bacon!"

Most of the trainees here already knew this stuff way even before they wanted to become adventurers. So they find all these talk boring but they didn't dare show their dissatisfaction unless they want to be running l.a.p.s all day.

This only applied to those who already knew about this but not me. I was earnestly trying to learn the common sense here in this world. The fact that I have a small crystal bead in my body called "core" was a bit weird. These things were definitely not present on any living thing on Earth. But that was on Earth and I'm now in a new world where stuff like magic and monsters were the norm.

"Cores are commonly found near the heart of every monster. Some would have it at the back of their head. There are also unique cases where the core is exposed to the outside and is sticking out commonly on the torso or the forehead."

Since I don't see any core in my head or c.h.e.s.t then I think I'm part of the normal cases where I have it near my heart. Though it would look cool having a crystal bead in my forehead, that would be too vulnerable and exposed.

I think it's time to leave for now. The three kittens might be worried about me now. I could always return later and I was planning to bring them here too. To broaden their horizons!

As I walked on the streets I was able to appreciate this fantasy world more. Just the other day I was still on Earth. Having to dive in dumpsters for leftover food but now I just had to play cute then people would throw food to me. Many would think that such a life would have still been terrible but for me, being able to eat is a miracle already.

I've begun to feel nostalgic as I remember all the times where I was out in the streets. Once more I swore.

I can't waste my second life! I have to live this life to the fullest!

By the time I got back, the sun was already high in the sky. I haven't been to keep track of time and got engrossed by the old man's teaching. Such a thing which should have been impossible before. Because my family could not afford to send me to school. Maybe I'm listening earnestly with the regret of not being able to study like every normal child should when I was young.

Studying and learning new things is such a wonderful thing! I wonder why my buddies never liked studying and skipped school? Do they want to play with me that badly? Despite me being so poor? Such good friends they were!

"I'm back!"

"Eh, Weren't you always here?"

"Ugh-"

It seems that I was wrong they weren't even aware that I was gone. They've been so engrossed to playing all this time and didn't notice I left!

"Come with me! I'll bring you somewhere fun!"

"Somewhere fun?"

"A place for fun!?"

"Yehey!"

We were a top on the walls silently gazing and observing everything within the courtyard.

"This is fun?" Garfield asked in confusion. For him, eating and playing was the meaning of "fun". 'Master would probably bring us to a place filled with food!' He hoped earlier in enthusiasm. But upon arriving at the place. He found this place completely boring.

Similarly, Snow also founded this place to be boring. The bas.e.m.e.nt was more fun as he could wrestle with Garfield and Luna with no one else around. It was pretty scary playing out in the open for him. " Master, let's go back to the bas.e.m.e.nt!" He and Garfield begged.

"No!"

Surprisingly it wasn't me who retorted but Luna.

"Don't you see that Master brought us here to learn! Not to play around. We are nothing but a burden for Master now! Why don't we take this chance to learn something and be of use to Master!"

They do say that girls m.a.t.u.r.e faster than boys. Ah…they grow up so fast. Though I've only met them yesterday there is this unspeakable bond that ties the four of us together. Maybe it's because of the system comrade thing.

"Indeed I've brought you here to learn. Not because I hope you would be of use to me one day but so that you can use your learnings here to face your future!" I spoke no lies and only told them what I really felt.

"You need to learn here so that one day you would be able to face your future without much trouble!"

"Yes, master…" it seems that both Garfield and Snow haven't fully understood what I said to them but that's alright since their still young kittens now. They are still in the middle of growing. On that note, I'm really happy that Luna seems to commit my words into her heart. She is very m.a.t.u.r.e for her age. Wait? What do I even know about cat age? Anyway, I could see the future where these two boys would treat Luna like their boss or something.

What happened to you, Alex! Since when did you get so old. I'm still 17 years old and yet already acting like an old man doing speeches for the young ones' future.

"Alright, Go listen to that old guy who's teaching these young adventurers!"

"Yes!" Garfield and Snow agreed reluctantly not daring to anger Luna who was staring at them with fierce eyes.

All the four of us came down and sat at the side. A few adventurers notice us but immediately ignored us and focus on the class. The old man also saw us and said to the adventurers.

"Look these cats are even more focused on the class! To those whose mind is not here but physically here. I'm telling you that you're no better than a cat!"

Ha? Am I supposed to feel offended with that?
