Chains Of Heaven

Chapter 52 - arc 2 - 16

Opening his eyes Enkidu could see his surroundings.

It looked like an endless bog in front of him, dangerous plants and toxic gas all ahead of him. The place clearly was not safe at all, but turning back was the mountain he was sent away from, the mountain where the many, many members of the Hyuga clan were still most certainly looking for him. Smiling awkwardly Enkidu knew he could not risk going back there, he would be killed for sure if he did that.

"Umm~~" A soft sound beside him made Enkidu turn and see the girl, Hinata, there on the floor clearly passed out cold.

A buzzing sound in the distance could be heard and Enkidu quickly stood up and looked around. His eyes scanning the area until he saw where the buzzing sound was coming from. It was a group of Fiend Bees, a species of bee that was known for being extremely violent and drinking blood to grow in power. More than fifty such insects were coming at Enkidu's location at once, clearly having noted his extremely pure profound energy and being incited by it.

Without hesitation Enkidu stood before Hinata, ready to fight. These bees were known for their speed and if Enkidu had to run away while carrying Hinata there was no guaranty he could escape and, even if he could, he might just end up ending in other dangers of this place seeing as he knew far too little of the region at this moment.

Clenching his fist Enkidu looked at the Fiend Bees in front of him, electricity flashing around him as blue thunder echoed around his body. The Heavenly Fury Art was a Thunder and Wind art that was unlike most profound arts, it did not focus on sending out an attack but instead in covering the body in thunder to increase the striking and piercing power of the body while using the wind to increase the maneuverability and help in the defense by directing the wind to send strikes away from the user.

There were a total of 9 layers of this technique, the deeper your understanding of the technique the deeper layer it would be able to use. At the last layer, the user was basically covered in what one could only call a 'natural disaster', reaching him was impossible, and fighting a user of it was not the best of ideas. It was a very cost-efficient profound art that was particularly suitable to Gugalana who liked to face his enemies head-on.

Right now Enkidu was only able to reach the second layer, covering his body in the electricity. Crouching down slightly Enkidu looked at the bees approaching and dashed at them, his speed increased with the thunder accelerating him forward while the wind helping direct his body to avoid any trees or other inconveniences.

The bees looked slightly startled by his move, but they did not stop at all. Instead of stoping their eyes glowed red in rage as they dashing forward with even greater ferocity. They were the little tyrants of this small part of the poison bog and were all at the lowest in the eighth rank of the Earth Profound Realm with more than half being in the Sky Profound Realm, they were able to secrete poison from their stings but their claws were extremely sharp to the point they could cut Earth Profound Realm weapons as if they were nothing.

Even if some of them died in a conflict it wouldn't matter seeing as they can always just eat those that die and get stronger as a result. They are a barbaric race that only knows how to kill.

However, what they did not expect was Enkidu's extreme speed as he dashed at them. He was little more than a blur for the bees of the Earth Profound Realm and those in the Sky Profound Realm were not able to react in time as the green-haired man moved to them, his hair flowing behind him as his hands moved.

Using the Heavenly Fury Art together with Enkidu's movement techniques these insects that relied on only instinct to fight were not able to fight properly any longer. Punches and kicks flew everywhere as Enkidu struck at every target he could see without any hesitation, chains surging from his body and surroundings from time to time as he did so as to ensnare and crush those bugs that tried to continue on after Hinata who was starting to wake up by now.

When it was finally over Enkidu had killed 42 of the 50 Fiend Bees with the other eight running away and scattering. He could have followed them, but he saw no need for that seeing as he was not fighting to exterminate them but for self-defense.

Returning to Hinata he saw that she was already wide awake and looking up at him with some awe in her features.

"... Y-You really are strong." She said and Enkidu shrugged a bit.

"I guess, but I still have a long way to go. Can you stand?"

Nodding demurely Hinata stood back up, her eyes looking at the area they were in and slowly getting paler and paler by the second as understanding flooded her mind. She was a timid and overly meek and cowardly girl lacking in self-confidence, being in this place was worse than a nightmare for someone like her.

"This, this is-"

"The Poison Bog of the North Region, yes." Enkidu said, his gaze sharpening as she said as much.

The Poison Bog was known as one of the great death zones of the continent. This region housed several species of plants and beasts with poisonous attributes and it was said that no ordinary civilians can come close to this region without dying an agonizing death. And, even for strong cultivators, the place was known as a nightmare, the number of dangerous zones inside was beyond count and it was said that there were at least 6 Sovereign Profound Realm beasts inside in the center of the region.

Even the strongest sects did not dare brave this place too deeply, especially since this area had two other groups living in it that were seen as dangerous to anyone.

First was the Beastkin village, a 'village of Beastkin that lived in the Eastern Area of the Poison Bog. The village was known as a death area as well for almost any human who dared to approach since they were all killed by the Beastkin without hesitation. There were even tales of one time the Great Blizzard sect, one of the top 10 strongest sects of the age, tried to invade the said village to obtain the Beastkin as slaves.

The Great Blizzard sect was destroyed to its last infant and the sect itself was torched.

But, if the Beastkin village is bad news then the other group of people that live in the bog is much worse news for anyone stupid enough to approach it with any sort of malicious intent, or even by simple accident. It is the Poison Sect, one of the Three Great Evil sects.

The Three Great Evil Sects are sects that practice methods that are not like the righteous path, each of the three sects following one such path. The Heaven Smiting family practices Darkness profound energy, the Yin Yang Wonderland practices Dual Cultivation and are known for kidnapping females and males from all over the continent to further their own powers by force, and the Poison Sect practices poison profound energy and are known for being the weakest of the three but the most dangerous as well due to the insidious nature of their techniques.

There is a popular saying, meet a Heaven Smiting family member, fall to your knees and act submissive, meet a Yin Yang Wonderland member, cut off your d.i.c.k and hope for the best, meet a member of Poison Sect, you dead.

Knowing this Enkidu started moving to the East. Medusa said she wanted to return there and there was every chance she would be trying to go back there. The best place to start looking would be there, and thus there is where he was heading towards.

That is, until he felt something he did not expect to feel. A darkness traveling uncontrolled and freely, and as Enkidu felt that darkness touch him he shivered as memories flooded back to the forefront of his mind. His eyes darkened as he felt that energy and, without hesitation, he turned west, in the direction from where this energy came from.

Even knowing he was traveling away from his friends and would likely be risking himself and Hinata (who was following him like a lost puppy), he moved to the west where the Poison Sect was. Not because of the sect itself, but because he recognized that darkness energy.

How not to when it was oh so familiar to him, resonating with the blood in his body and having been used so many times against him while back then? That was the energy of a member of the Heaven Smiting Devil clan member, and not just anyone's energy but the energy of the heir of the family, Xing Wuan.

Enkidu's older half-broter.
