Child Of God

Chapter 2 - All-Father

Rory was running circles around Devon as they were walking the halls of the continental sized palace. Everything they saw impressed her more than the last thing that they walked past. It must be said. The reason why they can live in these kinds of buildings is that they are gods and high ranking divine beings. A small example of that is their walking speed. To Rory, Devon is walking. If a mortal was here. It would look like Devon is teleporting all the time. It would look like they all are.

So for many reasons, the size of this place is not that big to them. Any being here can travel from one side of the island to the other in just a few seconds. Minutes if you count the weakest people living here. This is still done by walking. So that should speak of the speed these beings possess.

"Your Highness, please standstill. You are making me dizzy." Devon pleaded with his princess to stay still. Rory was running around him at a speed that even he had a hard time following. That's the reason why he is getting dizzy even though he is a high ranking angel.

"Okay! Let's go eat." She stopped in front of him and grabbed his hand and pulled him through the halls to go find the kitchen. Well, one of the many that existed in this palace.

"Understood. The nearest kitchen is 73 km in that direction." Devon started to walk slightly faster with Rory in hand and soon they were standing outside a massive kitchen area. It was the kitchen of dreams. It had literally everything in existence that a chef might need. And it was absolutely huge.

"Most of our rooms here are bigger than an entire house, maybe even a castle in the mortal plane. His majesty the king designed everything here himself. It is as perfect as you can get." Devon lost himself in daydreaming and he continued talking about how this place was created and the amazing powers of Rory's father. He didn't even notice Rory disappearing from his side in the search of food.

"So Devon, what do you think a mortal would think if they came here and saw this palace?" Rory said with a piece of bread in her mouth.

"First of all. Mortals don't know that this exists. Gods on the outside are still mortals in our eyes so if we count them all, then I would have to say. They wouldn't be able to comprehend this. The only reason that these buildings can even exist despite their massive sizes is because of All Fathers power. That's what most call your father in here." Devon sat down at a table and started his explanation until Rory interrupted him again.

"Gods can't comprehend this place? What does that mean?" Though she is almost omnipotent, she lacks in many areas when it comes to sorting knowledge and understanding it. She doesn't possess all knowledge and she can't comprehend it all. She is stronger then Devon, but when it comes to knowledge and wisdom, he is many levels above her. He is one of the oldest beings in existence.

"The mortal realms, meaning all the infinite universes out there. They have beings that the mortals call gods but they are just higher ranked beings. The only two "real" gods in existence are you and your father. But back to the question in hand."

"They are just the same as a mortal in the fact that this place is too much to comprehend. We can all be here because of All Fathers." He stopped and took a breath of the nice and clean air that existed here.

"All mortals would lose their minds and go insane if they saw anything from this place. It doesn't matter if people call them gods. To us, they are still technically mortal." Rory suddenly showed a sad expression, like she realized something awful.

"So does that mean I can't bring people here if I find anyone interesting in the mortal realm?" Rory stopped eating a little and the atmosphere got really depressing very quickly.

"No, not necessarily. You are a supreme god-like your father. Your blessing, meaning basically your protection, would allow them to step onto this plane of existence. That's how we are able to be here. We all have the All Fathers Blessing. With your blessing, there should be no problem bringing people here." Devon said in the happiest tone he could.

"Awesome! I saw some worlds when I awoke, that the mortals created out of their own fantasy. Can I go there?" Rory changed the conversation to something entirely different and it took Devon by surprise.

"eh, it came out of their fantasy?" He had never interacted much with the mortal word so he didn't quite understand.

"Ye, like a book. Fantasy worlds. Are those real for us? Could I go there?" Rory asked and Devon finally understood what she sought to do.

"Yes! Your father could create their universes for you. Technically, every being alive came from his imagination so that is no problem for him." Devon said and again, showed that prideful expression on his face as he spoke about the All Fathers might.

"YES! That will be awesome. I wonder if they will like me." Rory suddenly got really nervous about the thought of meeting new people. The more nervous she got the faster she digested the food on the table. Devon's jaw hit the floor as he watched her Highness gobble down food at light speed.

"oh! by the way. I forgot to ask. Why do you call him All-Father? Is that his name?" Rory didn't know her father's name at all. He never got any knowledge about him. Almost everything was a mystery to her.

"We all live under something called All Fathers Blessing. As I said before. It is what allows us to be here. That blessing is what we live off of essentially. That's why most people call him by that name. I usually call him King when I am in his presence." Devon was glad she stopped eating at light speed. He didn't want her to get a tummy ache.

"oh, I understand. Let's go talk to him. I want to leave as soon as possible." She rushed out of the room in the completely wrong direction.

"*sigh* he won't allow it. She can barely control her powers. He will never allow her to leave any time soon." Devon sighed again and raised after her to guide her in the right direction.

A few hours later, Rory stepped out looking sad and depressed from the biggest office in the palace. The office itself was... Big, and it belonged solely to the All-Father as it was his sleeping quarters as well.

Devon walked after her with sympathetic eyes. He knew this would happen but he still could not help getting sad when watching the little princess with that look in her eyes. It hurt on the inside to see that little girl so down and depressed.

"Your Highness. Time is irrelevant to us. We are all immortal. You will see that 5000 years is nothing when you're a god. It will feel like only a day has gone by." Devon tried his best to cheer her up. It was true what he said though. When you have infinite life, the concept of time disappears. A nap for Devon could be a humans entire life span. He didn't even know how old he was. He has always been alive, for as long as he can remember.

"Your father said you have to stay here for 5000 years because he wants you to be able to fully control your godly powers. The worlds you are going to are not even created yet, so they won't disappear while you are here." Devon put his hand on her small shoulder and led her away from the room. He was tasked with helping her train.

"Thanks, Devon. I'm not really sad though. I'm just a little annoyed that I have to wait 5000 years before he sends me off." Rory smiled at him and they went away towards the area where he will be training her.
