Classless Reincarnation

95 Last Stance! Wanting Turtle Soup!

"Anything, right? I'll take your soul, kekeke!"

Jack laughed, but so did the damn Tortoise! It readied its long and sharp scythes as it roared at the rabble fighting the two humans.

"ROAR!" (Get away from them! They're my meal!)

It was time for it to collect on the meal it had been cooking so far! It couldn't wait to gobble up the annoying two who'd been resisting it all this while.

That's when it charged at them!

Each of its steps made the clearing tremble, the creature stronger than a goddamn modern tank! Seeing this, Jack's ally couldn't help but sigh with a wry smile:

"God of Worldly Domination? Even the God of Turtle-hunting would suffice…."

"Are you that hungry for turtle soup right now?"

But then the humans regained their seriousness as they exchanged knowing looks. This was the last fight! They had to defeat this thing here, or they were 100% Dead!

"As long as we slay this one, we'll have a chance!"

"Except it's Rank E or even D and immune to F-Ranked Attacks." His ally commented, yet his fighting spirit still burned bright. So what if they couldn't kill it? He'd hurt it, badly!

The scythes flew toward them, their tired bodies struggling to keep up with them! Before, they had been in top shape, but now they already struggled to move, period!

Already during the first attack, Jack got killed.

A gigantic scythe tore up his abdomen, the contents of it spilling all over the ground. Just like that, he was down?! Then again, soon they'd be two down…

"You ugly thing! Come and get me!" It was pointless of him, but he wouldn't go down without at least resisting! Thus started the most anticlimactic 1 v 1 ever.

Ninja VS Monstrous Tortoise.

It went — CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! — and it felt like he was attacking a steel door with a toothpick! Effective? Not really. Desperate? Very! Would he give up? NOPE!

At this moment, he remembered the mysterious Guardian's attitude.

Even moments before his demise, he had still been joking around and all. He found himself inspired, wanting to honor his strange teammate's memory.

"Tch— Stop hiding behind that shell of yours! Fight me naked, you coward!" He found himself screaming as he kept hacking at the creature.

It really was pointless, but it wasn't like he had any other choice.

This was an arena, it's floor monster corpses, and its wall a legion of monsters. It would have almost been EPIC had anyone witnessed this. Thus he kept fighting…

Yet, even the most heroic of spirits had its limits.

His blood stained the arena, bits of his flesh lay all around, his Mana was totally consumed, and his organs were about to rupture from the intense stress.

This was the end, truly…

— ROAR! ROAR! —

The monstrous Tortoise thundered with a victorious cry as it dove in for the kill! It extended its maw toward its fallen foe, ready to devour the elusive ninja that had kept taunting it!

But if that wasn't enough, its maw even started glowing purple!

"Welp… fuck me!" The human cried out. A breath attack?!

Except, there was something strange about that breath attack! Why did the purple glow… actually look like countless tiny daggers?!

Also, why did the Tortoise suddenly freeze?! Shouldn't it devour him ASAP? Did it want to enjoy the moment? But then he noticed the thing's lifeless eyes. WHAT?!

"Damn, that was annoying AF!" Jack rose up with a start. Laying in an ambush all this time had been so uncomfortable and long!

"HOW?! You were dead! I saw your intestines with my own—"

"Oh, this?" Jack asked playfully.

He held monster organs and weird bright red berries in his hand. He had used the first for the texture and the second for the color, all to fake his death!

As for where he had found the berries, obviously in the prickly vegetation that had been bothering them during the previous fight!

"You faked it?! Wait, that still doesn't explain how you killed this thing! How did you bypass its near-invincible defense?!"

"Lots of dedication, precision, and 95% of my total Mana. Then I just targeted its weakest spot over and over." Jack explained, radiating.

Yet, the joy was short-lived. They were both pretty much out of Mana, right?! Then what the heck would they do about the "vultures" eying them?!

They had defeated the BIG BOSS but had been left so weak that they'd get trounced by the minions! Was there anything more shameful than that?!

"Say, how many do you think you can take on Manaless?"

"Take them? I'm not interested. They can remain in this forest forever for all I care." Jack shrugged before playfully adding. "By the way, I figured out why so many monsters came."

His companion opened his ears wide. If they were about to die, he at least wanted to know why! This was the one question he had been asking himself over and over!

"They allied because a stronger predator showed up!"

"Stronger predator? What kind of predator?!"

"This kind!" Jack started chuckling.

Countless Woos resounded in the distance. His foxes had taken a while to show up, as they too had been fighting their own battle. But they were finally here!

Were they that much stronger than the monsters here? Not even, but what they lacked in power, they had made up with organization and zeal.

As soon as they had learned that foxes weren't allowed at the Academy, they had done the very next best thing and taken over the nearby forest!

Jack and the new guy had just happened to somehow get caught in the crossfire. It was merely one colossal coincidence!

"See? They can remain in this forest forever." Jack reiterated, just as his foxes dove into the fray. In reaction, the wild monsters ran for their lives. Dying here wasn't worth it!

Then as soon as the monsters ran…

"WOO!" (Master! We missed you so much!)

After a monster encirclement, it was a fiery fox encirclement! Jack's new ally couldn't help but gulp, staring at them with the courage of a 3-year-old girl as he shook non-stop.

"P-please don't eat me! I totally believe in the FireFox God!"
