Chapter 3 - The Forest of Corpses pt. 2

When I woke up from the all surrounding fear that clouded my mind, I was standing below the gigantic doors of a European styled palace. The Night made the usual light atmosphere of a palace turn into a disturbing Darkness. The Moon gave a shadowy glimmer of light that caused a grotesque feeling. Not knowing where I was and driven by my weird curiosity for dark things like that I moved closer.

When I opened the door it made a screeching noise. As I stepped through the lights turned on without any obvious reasons. Although the light has a red, orange colour, it seemed to be more on the cold spectrum. I moved further in like I was in a kind of trance again. Every Room I came across the lights followed my movement.

I couldn't have told how many rooms I walked through at this point. The ones I saw up till seemed on the surface like normal majestic, showy rooms u would expect in a palace. Nevertheless the moment u spend too much time in a single room u would notice details that were off. Paintings were moving in the corner of your eyes. Others were showing disturbing scenes of war and murder. Gramophones were starting to play when u left. Some inconspicuous decorations u could only see an occult and deathly meaning behind when u looked at them twice.

The next Room I entered was so spacious one felt almost left. The abnormally was that the lights didn't turn on right away. The glimmer of moonlight made me see humanlike shadows moving around. The omnipresent silence made me question if those shadows are no figment of my imagination. I slowly stepped forward unsure if that was the right decision. In the darkness I couldn't make out the walls of the room. The moonlight was seemingly coming from everywhere. It almost felt like I am lost in outer space.

Suddenly the lights in the whole room turned on at the same time. It was such a blinding light that I had to close my eyes. "Welcome and thank u for your numerous appearance. Let me introduce myself, I am Jack your host for this marvellous Night. Enjoy yourself at this glorious Ball of the Dead. HAhaha" I opened my eyes again to a World of gold, silver and red. If the previous rooms were glamorous this room was out of Plutos Palace. The riches displayed could easily buy whole Cities. As I perceived my surroundings, my soul was petrified with horror. A scene more disturbing than anything I could have ever imagined played before my eyes. People, no not people, Corpses dancing in the most grotesque way I have ever seen. Wearing fancy ball gowns and classic suits they were spinning around. Some are moving way to slow and deadly silent, others way to fast and laughing. Some lost parts of their bodies while dancing others were bleeding so much, that they left blood red stains on the floor. The music playing was a piece I recognised, Beethoven – Piano Sonata No. 14 "Moonlight". It was a dark and ominous classical piece that my father liked to hear. It was a total mismatch with the atmosphere the room gave off.

My first intuition to flee the occasion was destroyed by the fact, that there was no door behind me. The wall had the same ornaments and windows like everywhere else in this room. It was almost as if a door never existed. The idea to jump through the windows was quickly replaced as well. The strong lighting made it almost impossible to see what was beneath and I couldn't determine if I walked up some stairs on the way. So I made my way through the sinful dancing pairs of dead bodies, trying to reach the other side of the hall to look for a door. I only took a few steps before space twisted and I was dancing with a woman that was bleeding through a hole in her stomach. Her eyes were eaten out by worms. The red dress she was wearing gave a strong contrast to her deathly pale face. She was the one leading our wild dance, holding me tight to the point of holing me captive. Every struggle was a useless attempt. My body followed her movements as if it was fate that made me move. Time flowed by. The everlasting night was accompanying our dance for years. I saw the young handsome Japanese Boy from the forest. He was dancing with a different woman every time I looked at him. He was spinning around with part of a rope around his neck and pure white eyes.

It ended suddenly when she let go of my hand and I took a step backwards. Space wrapped again. I was now standing before a Man of middle ages dancing with the backstabbed woman. He was dressed in a black leather coat. And as he turned around to speak to me I could see his face slowly distorting. Two horns appeared out of nowhere. His Smile became so demonic that the grimace was not humanly possible anymore.

He gave me letter and a casket and said: "With best regards from Jack". I slowly opened the casket first and nearly let it drop in shock. Inside was a freshly bleeding heart. I looked up and saw Jack laughing madly. Half questioning what this was about I looked down at the casket again. That's where I saw why Jack was laughing. I had a deep bleeding hole in my c.h.e.s.t. The realization that I was looking at my own heart made my mind go black.

I awoke to loud shouts. "Lucas! God damn wake up! It's 9 o´clock! We are going without u if u can't get ur a.s.s out of bed man." As I opened my eyes I saw my two friends above my face a bit pissed of trying to wake me up. "yeah yeah I'm coming chill dude. I just had a terrifying nightmare." As I got up I realized a letter that I was holing in my hand. Questioning why that was the case I read the words on the envelope: "With best regards from Jack. PS, Pray for the rope boy on your way"
