Chapter 17 - Department of Mysteries

After his kids 4th birthday party Lucius was packing his brief case to make a trip to the ministry. Earlier in the day he had received word of a rumored magical item, that no one knew how to work. Just when he was heading out of his study he bumped into a tiny figure, his oldest son kepus. Lucius knows kepus is different to other kids, and tends to be in his own little world. But since he wasn't a necessarily a noticeable child, it left him being forgot about.

Lucius: "That's strange."

Looking down Lucius noticed that the little blonds hair had wisps of green in it.

Lucius: "kepus come here, have you been playing with magic?"

Picking the boy up he inspected his hair. Looking closely he could see that some strands are green, and others are transitioning to green. Looking at the roots would make you think his hair was green all along.

Kepus: "no dad, where are you going?"

Lucius: "to the ministry, what happened to your hair."

Automatically answering the 4 year old.

Kepus: "I don't know it just started changing, but don't worry dad it doesn't hurt or anything."

Lucius: "Do you feel sick? It could be a curse."

He mumbled the second part under his breath.

Kepus: "Can I come with you, I've never seen the ministry before."

Looking at the boys green and blond hair, he chose to take him, in hopes that someone would take a look at the boy.

Lucius: I see no reason you can't, come now we are leaving immediately.

Walking over to the fireplace and throwing some powder into it. Lucius realized that this would be the first time kepus has left the property since birth. It's kinda like a mini debut into magical society for him.

The fire place then turns green as Lucius states that he wants to go to the ministry of magic. And they both feel themselves compress into marbles.

——————————

The British ministry of magic is a very huge place located in the heart of London, despite the fact that it's underground it still has the feel that your outside. Looking around the ministry entrance one could see that there were 10 floors. It's really cool how they have windows indoors it really makes you think that your not underground I read in a book that they can change what appears in the windows, but there's a department for that. Currently though the windows showed a sunny daytime scene, even though it's around bedtime for many.

Currently me and father are in the assembly area where all wizards and witches arrive at. I guess you can't apperate into the building. The only way to get in is with the various hidden entrances, or by using floo powder. So I guess we'll be walking from here.

We began walking to a giant elevator that looks like it could fit 20 people inside. Luckily there's only one other person inside the elevator, the man who controls the levers. Other than that the elevator is pretty plane.

We arrived at floor 9 of the ministry, I could tell from the sign. I guess my assumption that we arrived originally at floor 1 was wrong, we were only on floor 8. The floors of this place was truly massive. When the doors open compared to the gleam and glam of floor 8 this one was very eerie. There were no windows only torches and everything was themed black. This floor was mainly 1 long hallway with a large black door at the end. There were only 6 other doors on the walls leading up to it.

Elevator conductor: floor 9 department of mystery's has been reached.

Lucius: let's go and get this over with.

He walked out of the elevator with kepus following right behind him. As soon as he left out the elevator as of on cue the big doors way down the hall opened up.

Out came what appears to be a unspeakable dressed in a full black cloak set. Assuming he was a man he had a charm on his face and all other exposed body parts that covered them in black mist. And those that mastered magic to the peak would have been able to detect countless notice me not charms in the mans mind. Weather he was a spy for the dark side, or the department put them there, no one could tell.

Lucius: " JD how are you today? I was told that there was a certain thing that had yet to be understood. I would of course like to take a look at it. But of course I didn't forget the 'Entry Permit'.

He then hands the JD a brief case and inside you can hear the massive amount of galleons clinking together.

JD: Hmm, lets go.

They all begin to walk when JD stops and looks at kepus.

JD: You kid have to wait outside, this is something for a.d.u.l.ts only.

Lucius doesn't even speak up, as though it's normal for a 4 year old to wait outside.

The man then reaches into his cloak and pulled out a tiny bench that looks like it belongs in a doll house and sets it on the floor. He also pulls out his want and chants a quick expanding charm and the bench is now big enough for a person to sit on.

Kepus doesn't complain and simply sits on the bench as the men walk away and enters the chamber. Once the men are gone kepus immediately reaches in his cloak.

Pulling out a small box that he had one of his elf's buy for him. Although it's small it could hold a small rooms amount of stuff. And this c.h.e.s.t was special. Inside was a tiny fake forest, and at the center of it was a fake mother tree. He kept this on him at all times because he felt that he would need some handy little bowtruckles eventually.

Inside climbing and running around the forest were only 5 bowtruckles. These bowtruckles were the result of his training in the mind arts legilimancy and occlumancy. He rewrote these little guys mind to see him as something like there creator. And in turn they would completely obey him.

Pulling out the 5 of them he places them on the stone floor of the hallway and gives them there orders.

Kepus: "Explore the rooms and bring me shiny things."

Although they may be obedient to me, doesn't mean they're any smarter. So I have to rely on these simple commands. Hopefully they'll be able to get something interesting for me.

But it's a gamble of course.
