Conquering The World With One Piece

Chapter 28 - Escaping Enies Lobby

At the Day Station in Enies lobby, the Puffing Tom's engines roared as it began its next journey. The train conductor had given it the "GO" signal and opened the metal gates to allow it to leave.

Even though the island was asked to stand in full vigilance, the minds of the people here were convinced that the fugitives were already dead. They didn't even dare imagine the things brewing inside the locomotive of the Puffing Tom presently.

Wooo-Woo- Shf- Shf- Shf- Shf- Shf- The train slowly started to pick up speed while exiting from Day Station.

In this interim, inside the locomotive, Robin and I were leisurely resting and watching the events outside from the tinted window. Standing besides us, there was a man trembling in fear with a bruised face. His name was Corgi, the man in charge of the train's security.

Purupurupurupurupuru- Kachak- The transponder snail next to Corgi started relaying orders with an agitated voice.

[Agent Corgi, we need you to stop the train immediately! I repeat, stop the train immediately…! Do we have confirmation?!]

At that moment, I raised my eyebrow and threatened Corgi with a frightening glare. Corgi swallowed in fear and wisely chose to switch off the transponder snail.

Near the main gate, tens of Marines had started gathering next to the Puffing Tom train. They were all hurriedly called for surveying the exiting train for the fugitives.

"Why isn't it stopping? There must be a technical problem with the train!"

"No, how's that possible? The conductor probably didn't hear the call from th-"

TUUNNKKKK-

The next moment, all the rail cars dragged along by the locomotive were promptly detached. The Puffing Tom accelerated even further after dropping all that weight.

The Marines trembled with regret as they realized they'd been tricked. They ran with pale faces to set up cannons to stop the train's advance.

Meanwhile, inside the Puffing Tom…. Corgi was serving Robin and me drinks with moist eyes full of worry.

"S-Sir, please let me leave! The cannons are going to level the train soon. Ev… Even you should run away before it's too late!"

I picked up a few ice cubes and added them to our drinks. With a relaxed smile, I said, "You're supposed to serve the drinks colder. Also, where are the other refreshments along with it?! Is this the service of the World Government's most luxurious transport?!"

Corgi smile wryly and wished to punch the man in front of him; however, the pain from his bruised face did a good job in holding him back.

In the background, Robin giggled and put her hands on my shoulder. "Geez, stop teasing the poor man already. Let him leave; he'll just w.h.i.n.e and stop our fun."

"No, I think we need a good waiter for the trip. Besides, it's already too late for him to leave..."

While we were discussing the man's fate, Corgi opened the window in a panic after seeing all the base's cannons pointed at us.

The Marines were about to fire at the train when… Corgi waved his hands desperately as he yelled, "STOP!!! STOP!! They have captured me as a hostage! Please hold back fire!"

In the distance, the Marines hesitated and looked towards their commanding officer for their orders. Unfortunately for them, their uncertainty lasted long enough for the Puffing Tom to leave the range of their cannons.

Corgi was about to sigh in relief, but them he heard the voice that evoked nightmares in everyone at Enies Lobby. In the background, a raging man surrounded by magma neared the main gate.

"Where the hell do you think you're going?!'

Without delay, Akainu used "Meteor Volcano" to launch magma fists towards the sky. Soon the whole sky burned with fire as meteor fists rained from the sky.

"We-We're going to die?! I am too young to die this quickly!" Corgi fell to his knees and cried out.

Even Robin trembled for a second at the sight of the Marine's strongest force, but she recovered her complexion quickly enough. After getting saved from the claws of death this morning, she felt confident in her chances of escaping.

Robin glazed her eyes over Corgi and said, "Actually, it might be a pretty slow death for you instead. If we're unlucky, the meteors will cause the train to burn slowly… along with us in it."

Hearing Robin's words, Corgi became dizzy and fainted with stress. I watched this from the side and berated Robin. "Aren't you the one teasing our waiter? Now I'll have to be the one to bring more refreshments for us…"

Robin smiled coyly at me and took a sip of her drink; meanwhile, I jumped out of the window to face the meteor shower in the sky.

I raised my hands and narrowed my eyes in concentration. Next, I materialized my will and created a huge force field using advanced Armament Haki to block the magma fists falling from the sky.

BOOM-CLASH-BOOM-CLASH-

Even though the fists contained terrifying destructive power, they were still only a large area of effect attack. Most of them missed the train while the remaining weren't concentrated enough to break the forcefield.

Akainu could only grit his teeth in frustration as he figured his plan had failed. There was no way he could stop the train, which was going more than double its usual speed, from such a long distance.

"Bastard!!! I'm going to chase you to the end of this Earth and deliver justice!!"

This astounding declaration from Akainu marked the end of our meeting. Little did he know how close of a distance we were to each other in his own backyard.

In due time, the news of the entire incident leaked to the headquarters and rang alarming bells throughout Mariejois. Nico Robin had escaped along with the emergence of a figure that was rumored to take on an Admiral. This wasn't pleasing news at all to the World Government…

In the meeting hall in Pangaea Castle at Mariejois, the 5 elders discussed the events of Enies Lobby. These were the rulers of the world; of course, not counting a mysterious existence above them.

Currently, a man with blonde hair was stroking his beard in deep thought.

"Now that our mission to retrieve the Ancient Weapon has failed. We should send the orders to kill Nico Robin on sight if necessary… Losing Pluton to others will be problematic for us after all."

The other elders nodded in agreement; and then, the oldest looking, bald elder with glasses and a samurai sword spoke up.

"While Nico Robin does need to be killed, this situation will only be truly alarming if the man carrying the Will of D has taken hold of her. For now, we should wait for the identity of the fugitive to be revealed before thinking of taking drastic actions."

"Yes, our current focus should still be the empty Shichibukai position. We need to make sure to maintain the balance of the three powers."

The 5 elders continued their discussion for a little longer, before they conveyed new orders to the CP9 and the Marines…

A few hours later, Robin and I were in the deck of a ship that we'd recently boarded. After I detected a pirate ship near the sea train, I flew away with Robin to hijack the ship and clear it off pirates completely.

Presently, we were both leaning on the railing of the ship and enjoying the breezy wind and the sunny weather. The ship was being completely manned by Robin's hands that were materialized everywhere.

I laid my eyes on the multiple hands Robin had sprouted and smiled quizzically at her.

"Damn, you surely don't need a hand managing yourself! I wonder how did the CP9 even get to you..."

Robin's hair fluttered in the wind as she sighed internally and said, "I was being tracked from the moment I left Alabasta. I got careless and walked into a trap, thinking I could get more information on the Sky Island… I guess I was bound to be caught one day or the other after all."

"I guess that's true; but now you have partnered up to me, I can help you achieve a few more things. We're going to start with the Sky Island of course." "

I went up to Robin and handed her the Eternal Pose for the forest-covered Jaya island, which was about 2 days away from our location.

I explained to her that we'd have to stop there before embarking on the journey to Sky Island. I couldn't find the official route to Sky Island during my time in this world, leaving us with no choice but to take the knock-up stream.

Robin stared at the Eternal Pose and then me, before she said, "You must know that I've been known to betray and get all my partners killed, right?"

I gazed directly in Robin's eyes and put my hand on Robin's shoulders. "Quite honestly, I think your circ.u.mstances were bad, not you at all, that led you to bad people and betrayals. Well, anyway, I'll see you tomorrow at the same time to continue our journey." I took out a Vivre card and placed it in Robin's hands. "As long as you hold this piece of paper, I'll have the power to find you and save you…"

Without delay, I turned myself into lightning and travelled back to the G-5 base. It would be a little too suspicious for me to not be at the G-5 base right after the events at Enies Lobby.

Robin clutched the piece of paper tightly with her mind overflowing with complicated thoughts.

The next day, at Mariejois…

I was attending a monthly meeting between all the high-level staff of the Marines. The meeting invited all ranks of the admirals and special government personnel to attend the meeting. Normally, no one would come to Mariejois to attend these meetings; however, attendance was high today after the events of Enies Lobby.

Currently, in one end of the large round table, Akainu seemed to be passionately arguing with Sengoku. They were both discussing the actions needed to combat the emergence of the new threat at Enies Lobby.

"Fleet Admiral, I request that you assign me to take out Nico Robin along with that man."

Sengoku stayed in silence for a second before shaking his head in disagreement.

"We need you here at all times to stabilize the situation until the position for the new Shichibukai is filled… Besides, the commander-in-chief has asked us to collect more data on this 'Shadow-Man' first before committing all our resources for his capture. For now, we'll just have a public bounty set at 8 hundred million Berrys."

Akainu bit his cigarette and argued further. "The threat will only grow worse if we don't do anything!" He banged his fists at the table as he yelled, "I demand that we take appropriate action! I am not going to take no as an answer from you or even the World Government!"

In the meantime, at the far corner of the round table, there was a man with blue hair and a black suit along with a beauty with pinks shirt and brown shorts clinging closely to each other.

My mom looked at me with a sulky face and grabbed my hand tightly towards her bosoms.

"Sweetie, please tell me that you're going to stay with your mom all day today!"

"No, I don't have the tim-" My mom's eyes became moister at each of my word. Seeing how cute she was, I pulled her mochi like cheeks and said, "I don't have the time, but I'll take you on a nice date for the next three hours… Though I hope you're training Tashigi well too."

"Of course!" My mom pulled me into her embrace and gave me a tight hug.

Suddenly, Akainu glared at us from the distance and grinded his teeth in anger.

"Can you be quiet?! We're discussing an important issue here!!!"

'Uhm-Uhm-" My mom cleared her throat and regained her stern, serious expression that she normally carried with her. She pulled away from me and was about to apologized formally, when…

I yawned from the side and said, "I don't think we're discussing an important issue… What we should be discussing is how one of our admirals failed miserably to uphold justice even after destroying half of Enies Lobby. The strongest forces of the Marines looked like a joke in front of the world's eyes now!"

Chilling silence lingered around the entire room at my words. No one dared to say a word in this tense atmosphere anymore. My mom's and Tsuru's eyes blinked in surprise too, but they chalked up my behavior to the passions of the youth; I was still a 19-year-old boy in their eyes after all.

Akainu's eyes penetrated and probed me for a long moment, before his hands started turning into magma.

"It looks like you've not mentally grown along with your strength at such a young age. I suggest you apologize, before I provide you capital punishment for offending your superior!"

I jumped towards him with my hand turning into vicious lightning and said, "Oh, I sure will apologize after you've done apologizing to the families of the soldiers lost at Enies Lobby…! And perhaps, it's about time to look for a more competent admiral from the new talents to follow."

The temperature of this room literally heated by 100's of degrees, resulting in a few weak-willed admirals to run towards the walls.

Murmur-Murmur- A few people started whispering to each other in the middle of the intense face-off.

"This lad is too ambitious! Never in the past 100's of years had admirals been replaced for anything other than their own resignation or death!"

"Oh, he's pretty strong and not a bad candidate at all though…"

"Isn't vice admiral Leo done for after offending Akainu?!"

"Hmmm, you're new so you don't know that it's a bit more complicated. The only thing that matters are your achievements and strength… he has proved to have both in the past few months alone. Besides, he has the full backing of the Great Tactician Tsuru and rumored to have favor from Sengoku…"

"Damn, that brat is too much after defeating Vergo! Well, all Logias are annoying to beat after all!"

"Hahahaha… Let alone him, his mom's been getting too strong recently too!"

To stop the situation from escalating further, BANG- Sengoku smashed the round table and yelled, "Admiral Akainu, stop making a scene at the words of a kid here!! And you vice admiral Leo… your salary is cut for 1 month and apologize now to Admiral Akainu!!"

I clicked my tongue and was thinking about apologizing, when SWISHHH- Akainu rushed at me with his magma fist. "You need a more concrete punishment to treat cases of insubordination!"
