Conquest: A New Home

Chapter 11 - Reminiscence

"SHIT!" Eliza cursed as she was trapped in the corner connector joint. "F.U.C.K!"

Eliza had been way too careless. This was the only connector joint that led directly towards C3. Of course someone could easily guess where she would go.

'Problem is.' Eliza furrowed her brows. 'How did they know I was heading to the DSS armory in C3?'

Eliza was deep in thought as she pondered about this when she suddenly heard something else aside from the hum of the ship.

*Hisssssssss*

Eliza gagged as she smelt the overpowering scent of methane in the air.

'SHIT!' Eliza cursed again. 'Someone really wants me dead.'

There was a broken gas pipe somewhere in the room and it was filling up the room with methane. Eliza had more or less 5 minutes to figure something out since neither DARAS or L.A.P (Lifesupport Administration Program) were online.

There was a way to manually override the connector joint's ventilation and switch it to overclock but that required a mechanic since only mechanics were familiar with the thousands of schematics for separate parts of the ship. Eliza may have had a background in mechanical engineering but she was never specialized in such, thus, it would take her an hour to even have a rough grasp of the module schematics.

"There must be something in here…" Eliza smashed open another locked panel and found a roll of graphite nanofiber flex tape and a bottle of quick-dry liquid kevlar solution.

Eliza opened up a call to Dr. Casserine Stadtford without hesitation.

As the call was pending, Eliza applied the graphite nanofiber flextape to the exposed pipe after tracing the hissing noise.

After wrapping it a dozen times, Eliza poured layers of the quick dry liquid kevlar solution into the broken pipe.

"That should buy me a few minutes." Eliza breathed out.

Internal pressures within this pipes could reach up to 1.5 megapascals and a small breach like this was enough to completely compromise large sections of the system. It would not take long for the pipe to burst open and either drown Eliza or explode her into oblivion should it ignite by the slightest of sparks.

After Eliza wiped the sweat off her brows, a voice suddenly spoke.

"The f.u.c.k you calling me for you bitch?" Casserine Stadtford's voice pierced the silence. "500 f.u.c.k.i.n.g years and only now you call me. This better be f.u.c.k.i.n.g important because we are busy as f.u.c.k right now."

"Help me." Eliza sighed. She never expected to ask for Casserine's help. "I'm trapped."

"No shit. You sound like a whiny bitch." Casserine sighed. "How the f.u.c.k did that happen, miss I'm-a-f.u.c.k.i.n.g-genius?"

"I was making my way to C3 and someone shut the hatches on the corner after poking a hole in the methane pipe." Eliza summarized. "You better send someone here before this place blows up like the disaster it is."

Casserine was silent for a while before speaking.

"Anddd...?" She asked. "You didn't f.u.c.k.i.n.g die?"

Eliza chuckled.

"No. Sorry to disappoint you." Eliza smirked.

"You bitch. You're probably grinning like an idiot right now." Stadtford had somehow guessed that Eliza was smirking at her.

"I can tell you are disappointed at me but please send someone to open the hatch already." Eliza laughed.

"F.u.c.k you." Casserine spoke before ending the call.

Eliza grabbed the railing on the wall and rested against the velcro padded wall, sticking herself to the panel behind her.

'Goddamnit.' Eliza grit her teeth. 'I should have known better…'

Eliza closed her eyes as she remembered the days long gone.

"Did the corporation tip the police already?" Eliza asked. "It's not like they can do anything against the corporation after we trashed their caches but just to be polite."

"Affirmative." One of Eliza's subordinates replied. "They complied without a hitch."

"Good. We don't have to pay a visit to the mayor's house tonight and chop his balls." Elisa laughed as she closed the helmet of her mechanical warsuit. "Now…."

"Breach that f.u.c.k.i.n.g door already."

The plastisteel door exploded without much of a problem as Eliza's men barged through the fortified bunker of the resistance.

"S-Shit! They're here already!" Someone coughed through the dust. "Someone grab the-"

The man could not continue to speak as one of Eliza's men shot him with a Slug Rifle, blowing his head into millions of pieces.

When the dust settled, Eliza could see faces of thousands of women and children huddled together in the room while crying and screaming in horror at the sight of the headless body of their former priest.

"Captain." One of Eliza's men spoke. "It seems like the information we extracted from the subject's brain was accurate. This is their back door."

"What should we do with them captain?"

Eliza scrunched up her nose in disgust at the sight of such pathetic and worthless people.

"Useless leeches like this are not needed by any corporation." Eliza walked away as she took off her helmet.

"Kill them all." Eliza lit a cigarette and inhaled the fumes as indefinite amounts of gunshots and screams echoed like a symphony gone wrong behind her.

"The subjects have been terminated." Her subordinates reported as the gunshots stopped. "Should we burn them?"

"Negative." Eliza kicked a door, sending it flying off it's hinges. "Leave the bodies to the rats. Those hungries will do a better job butchering these corpses and selling them off at the meat market."

"Affirmative."

Eliza walked down the corridor and arrived behind a mounted Electromagnetic Rotary Cannon that was pointed towards the main entrance of the fortified bunker complex.

"Not bad, considering they are stupid enough to dare challenge the corporations." Eliza whistled as she peeked from the gun emplacement to see the massive room filled with tens of thousands of armed militia.

"What do we do now?" One of her subordinates asked.

"What else?" Eliza laughed. "No one is allowed to go against the corporation."

Eliza's visor beeped as someone came from the side and discovered Eliza and her squad.

"Wait, who are yo--!" The man was cut off by the gunshot of Eliza's rifle.

With the gunshot echoing across the room, all the armed freedom fighters turned to face their location and were set to high alert.

"SHIT THEY CAME FROM THE CHAPLAIN'S ALTAR!"

"SOMEONE MAKE SURE OUR KIDS ARE SAFE!"

"GODDAMN CORPORATE SC.U.M!"

"GIVE US BACK OUR LIVES!"

"DIE!"

"ABHOR THE GOLD!"

"ABHOR THE DEVIL!"

"ABHOR THE CAPITALISTS!"

"DEATH TO THE COMPANY!"

"DEATH TO THE COMPANY!"

"DEATH TO THE COMPANY!"

The resistance had reached it's peak fervor when they began chanting their cause. Tens of thousands of them chanted by the top of their lungs as they sang "Death to the Company" while rushing towards Eliza and her squad.

Eliza yawned.

"You three, protect the right flank." Eliza commanded. "You four, protect the left."

"Roger." All seven of her subordinates spoke in unison.

Eliza smiled as she uprooted the mounted Electromagnetic Rotary Cannon from it's fixed position, feeling the rush of adrenaline as the synthetic muscles of her exosuit kick into a whirring action together with the suit interfacing with the weapon as it generated the predicted flight pattern of the weapon.

"Die, you horrible leeches of society." Eliza laughed. "Contribute to the company's success with your death and corpses."

Eliza then continued to fire an endless torrent of depleted uranium slugs travelling at supersonic speeds towards the hordes of people coming towards them, mercilessly tearing limbs and splattering blood in misty red explosions.
