Conquest: A New Home

Chapter 18 - A Happy Place

Kaylen's eyelids twitched.

She had laid on the floor quietly and pretended to be asleep for a good five minutes by now and there were no sounds of movement to be weary of.

The only clue she had was the rustling of leaves and the warm bright light that was threatening to make her blind despite her closed eyes.

'I'm not gonna sit here any longer, f.u.c.k this.' Kaylen opened her eyes and stood upright.

'Wait that's not right, the ship's artificial gravity system is offli-'

In front of her was a massive meadow of purple grass and pink flowers vivid enough that she could see the wet dew glistening on every blade of the grassy thing. Kaylen did not know if this was a simulation but even if it was, it was something she would have accepted very easily.

"I'm dead, aren't I…" Kaylen mouthed as the soft wind blew past her, tossing her soft golden curls to dance in the breeze.

"Ah f.u.c.k it." Kaylen laughed as she took her socks off and ran across the fields.

'I never knew the heaven that those mythologies were speaking about was true.' Kaylen laughed as she swam in the stream of water she found earlier.

"So this is what a planet with a functioning atmosphere and biosphere would look like…" She mumbled as she splashed in the blue water.

"I wish Eliza could see this." Kaylen sighed.

'Wait.' She paled.

'Eliza, Jumar, the mission…' Kaylen remembered.

"Abby…!" Kaylen remembered. "F.u.c.k! I need to get back!"

Kaylen could hear a synthetic voice beep in the background before a stinging pain echoed in her head, making her weak in the knees.

"No, no, no! NO!" Kaylen tried to scream through the pain ringing in her ears. "I don't want to forget! I don't want to forget! Stop! Stop!"

She screamed to the top of her lungs before the ringing blocked everything away and she could not tell if she was still doing something or not.

The darkness just grew larger and larger each time, completely blocking everything.

'I'm not gonna sit here any longer, f.u.c.k this.' Kaylen opened her eyes and stood upright.

'Wait that's not right, the ship's artificial gravity system is offline…'

[In front of her was a massive meadow of purple grass and pink flowers vivid enough that she could see the wet dew glistening on every blade of the grassy thing. Kaylen did not know if this was a simulation but even if it was, it was something she would have accepted very easily]

"Something is not right." Kaylen narrowed her eyes and carefully walked around the meadow. "Weren't we supposed to…"

['Ah f.u.c.k it.' She thought.]

Kaylen sighed as she took off her socks and splashed around the water till evening.

"Phew." Kaylen laid down on the grass panting heavily from all the hours she played on the water.

"Heh… look at those stars.." Kaylen marveled the sky that seemed to be a black canvas plashed with a sea of photogenerative gems.

She tried counting them, but every time a star twinkled or a meteor passed by in a bright streak of light she would lose count.

Needless to say, Kaylen gave up pretty fast.

With the cool wind blowing across her entire body and the warm earth beneath her, she felt contented.

['It isn't bad to be in here.' She thought.]

Kaylen agreed.

"If Eliza was here everything would be perfect…" Kaylen mumbled as she slowly dozed off to sleep.

'Wait.' Kaylen quickly got up in a panic, feeling a pit of dread in her stomach. 'Eliza!'

Kaylen suddenly remembered everything.

'The frontier, Eliza, Jumar, Johan, Xiu, Sara…' Kaylen gasped. 'Abby…'

'What am I doing here? Where am I?!' Kaylen looked around the purple planet lit by starlight. 'What is this?!'

Kaylen was about to try and run before a searing pain from inside her head assaulted her, knocking her off her ground, ultimately ending up in her faceplanting to the earth.

But she didn't feel any pain.

Not as painful as the pain in her head.

Soon, Kaylen screamed, but cannot hear her own voice from the ringing in her ears.

'Please… Make it stop…'

['Ah f.u.c.k it.' She thought.]

Kaylen sighed as she could only laugh.

['Just a passing thought. No need to remember now, this is my happy place.' She thought.]

Kaylen could not help but agree.

Kaylen played in the meadow for weeks, maybe months.

Without starving, or getting thirsty one bit.

"I miss food…" Kaylen pouted. This was the only instance where she felt unhappy. "Even that CKN-55 would do…"

['But I do not need food.' Kaylen thought. 'I am happy in this place.']

"No… I really want to eat…"

[Kaylen did not really think that. She was just fooling around.]

Kaylen sighed. Sometimes her thoughts did not align.

"What the hell is wrong with me…"

[But there was nothing really wrong with herself. She was happy in this place.]

"Eliza used to cook back when we still had supplies from ear-" Kaylen's eyes widened.

"ELIZA! I need to find Eliz…a…?" Kaylen slowed down.

'Who is Eliza?' Kaylen thought to herself.

[Kaylen dismissed the thought. She was happy in this place, she needed no one else.]

Kaylen sat down.

'Eliza…' She narrowed her eyes. 'Who are you…'

Kaylen sat there, doing absolutely nothing with no results trying to remember for hours that felt like weeks.

"GAAH!" She broke down. "F.U.C.K! I can't even remember! This is so f.u.c.k.i.n.g humiliating!"

"At this rate, I'm just proving that Jumar is right and my head is filled with shit! I swear to god Jumar-"

"Jumar."

Kaylen's face paled.

'Shit, how long have I been here!' Kaylen realized. 'Wait, where is here?'

'I'll Just send out a distress beacon.' She popped open her IRIS.

[IRIS SYSTEMS ARE NOW ONLINE]

[Welcome back operator {Aldos the Great}]

[Nya?! Distress Beacon?]

[ÒwÓ ?!]

[Aldos the Great is in trouble? ÕwO?]

[Nyan~ Nyan~ beacon awayyy!]

[Eh? OwO']

[WE ARE JAMMED! "ÔwÔ!]

[NANI DA FAKK?!]

Kaylen knew there was a jamming inside the ship.

But she was on another f.u.c.k.i.n.g planet.

"Wait… that means…" She grit her teeth.

"I'm not on another planet. I'm inside the ship."

Kaylen looked around her.

"This is all a simulation!"

[Kaylen's eyelids twitched]

"What?" Kaylen asked. "Who is that speaking?"

[She had laid on the floor quietly and pretended to be asleep for a good five minutes by now and there were no sounds of movement to be weary of]

"Is this a system generated thing?"

[The only clue she had was the rustling of leaves and the warm bright light that was threatening to make her blind despite her closed eyes]

"The f.u.c.k is this? A cutscene? I need to go back to work or Casserine will whip my a.s.s."

"Wait, Casserine?"

['I'm not gonna sit here any longer, f.u.c.k this.' Kaylen opened her eyes and stood upright]

"Abby! Eliza! Shit!"

['Wait that's not right, the ship's artificial gravity system is offline…']

Kaylen blinked and the view instantly vanished to be replaced by a black slate of metal over her head that was slowly sliding away to reveal the sight of a fully n.a.k.e.d man hunched over her.

Kaylen took a while to process that the man was moving his h.i.p.s, which were somehow between her t.h.i.g.hs.

Kaylen seethed.

This was a sight she will never get used to ever since she worked for Geocorp.

But this time was different.

She wasn't contracted to do it and she wasn't obliged to.

Even more.

She wasn't tied up.

Kaylen smiled.

"F.u.c.k me harder like its your last." Kaylen c.a.r.e.s.sed the man's face.

"Wah- WHAT?" He seemed surprised, but Kaylen dragged him closer by wrapping him with her legs. "You- You're not supposed to be awake! You were supposed to be happy! Forev-"

"Shh…" Kaylen put her finger on his mouth. "F.u.c.k me more. F.u.c.k me like it's your last…"

She laughed.

"Because I'll f.u.c.k.i.n.g make sure it is."
