Contract: Making Of A Hero

Chapter 7 - Reconquest

The universe is vast, each sectors and corners is the pinnacle of creation. The star god was said to have created the known universe and divided his energies to several sectors of the universe. It is said that one day that he who is the similar to the existence of the god shall unite his fragments. He who obtains the fragments shall obtain eternity, omnipotence and time itself. The Ivuku believed that their existence is similar to the star god. Humanity is destined to bring unity to the universe. Under their rule only humans have the right to reside in their creator's creation. The universe belongs to man that descended upon the star god.

By this belief that they that worship the star god believed it is their divine right to conquer the known universe. An empire of man had said to have existed once and become the dominant race that ruled. Orcs, elves, halflings and beings who are not human are nothing but beasts and lesser beings who is once at the mercy of their masters. It is the divine right of man to rule the universe and reclaim what was once belonged to them.

The Land of Dawn is no different, despite having different races and beings that reside. The existence of man proved to be enough evidence for them to include the domain in their plans of reconquest. The Cult of Ivuku believed that their domains were stolen from these beings which they call as unclean. The unclean ones need purging and the powers of the star god is needed to quell any resistance that may interfere with their plans. The Moniyan Empire, oblivious to their plots have tolerated their fundamentalist approach. They believed that they are just fanatics of some cult that is insignificant. That they are less of a threat compared to recent threats they face in the endless war that is waged in their lands.

The Ivuku has made their move. By summoning the catalysts they intend to weed out all the unnecessary elements in their plans. Sacrificing lives in the process and at the same time fuels the soul batteries that powers the summoning of the great one. The star god who had said to have created and ruled the universe before his passing.

The day of purging is fast approaching, heroes, beings who has the potential to be of use and be the catalysts needed for the summoning have been called. From different worlds they were dragged into their tragic fates. Not one of them knows of what awaits of them but the promise of being a hero. A shallow offer but is enticing enough for the ignorant.

The recent days one of the catalysts, Simon was trained hard by the Prioress Emmina a member of the brotherhood of Clement. The only Prioress who was allowed to join the order coveted by the ranks of the cult. Unknown to them the Prioress is a rogue agent of the Order who wishes nothing but their demise. She is planning every step of their downfall and wishes them wiped out from existence.

Observing the man that will one day become an offering to some superstition. She feels a little bit pity on him. Being dragged into matters that is not of his doing nor his consent. He is to fight beings that exist for one thing, death and carnage. In order for the cult to not notice her sympathy towards Simon she displays a cold treatment towards him. If they notice that she is being soft on him, they would likely take him away from her and her plans for him will simply go for nothing.

"A lot of have said to give up this mission of mine and return to Sangele. I cannot do so because of this person. I pity him and his fate..."

She was inside the Amethyst palace contemplating. A familiar figure appeared in front of her while she was contemplating it was Ivan. He is the cardinal who saved her when she was tried for excommunication. Ivan was one of the agents of the Order, the very organization exist to resist the plans of the Ivuku cult.

"You are always like this in the recent days. You are still thinking of him are you not?"

The Prioress Emmina wipes the tears from her eyes and reverts back to her cold self. She gave the man a cold look and replied.

"The person does not deserve sympathy. He is but a fool that is to be served as a sacrificial lamb! He is of no use to us."

Ivan who saw the compassion she had for the guy replied and said.

"You are bad at lying about these matters Emmina. I know you, we grew up together."

Before Ivan could finish Emmina left seeing the other cardinals approaching their way. Ivan know that her feelings of sympathy towards the person could hinder their plans. Nonetheless he wishes to assist her in her mission in any way he could.

Meanwhile, Lord Valeric one of the prominent figures of the Ivuku cult in the Land of Dawn had a unexpected visit to the Amethyst Palace. He seems to be in a bad mood and rushed to the chamber of saints where the Head of the Cardinals had resided. Ivan trailed him where he was headed and saw him and the Head Cardinal talking. He spied at them of their conversations and overheard what the two were saying.

"I could not believe that they infiltrated us!"

The Head Cardinal who could not believe his words replied worriedly and asked.

"How come? The order could have been annihilated by now. The last war with them have proved to be victorious at our side! How do you know this spy of theirs is saying the truth nor the validity of his words?"

Lord Valeric replied and said.

"The truth serum has been used and the psychics of the Balear have conducted the interrogation."

Valeric replied and drinks a cup of wine in order to calm himself down.

"Then a confrontation will happen soon... We should prepare ourselves and begin purging in our ranks!"

The head Cardinal advised.

"No need, the plan will proceed but the spy had said that these agents of theirs have gone rogue. They will get no support from their precious order."

Lord Valeric said calmed down and sat on a chair.

Ivan who heard the conversation of the two was worried about Emmina's safety learning that their plans have been compromised. But from the looks of it basing on the conversation of the two. He and Emmina were not yet identified by the Ivuku. However he knows that some measures have to be done in order for them not to be discovered. Ivan left hurriedly after his eavesdrop and looks for Emmina who left the Amethyst palace.

"Where could she be?"

Ivan asked himself still looking for her.

Meanwhile three Moniyan heroes have waited for a certain figure from the Ivuku cult. They annoyed that their contact was late on their appointment and were about to leave. All of a sudden a lady in white appeared in front of them who appears to be walking from miles and is in a hurry. She unveils her hood and appeared before them.

"It is you!"

One of the Moniyan heroes said in disbelieve.

"Who is she Tigreal?"

A woman who is along with them asked.

"It is her Tigreal, the lady in white! I suggest we take her down now while we have a chance. She is a demon nonetheless."

Tigreal stopped his hand and calmed one of his companion down who almost draw his sword.

"That's enough Alucard, we need all the information that we can get!"

Tigreal then talks to Eudora who looks confused about the situation.

"It is her Eudora, the one from before. If she is from the Ivuku cult then I suggest they are up to no good."

After their little chatter Emmina started to talk.

"I have something to tell you. Heroes of the Moniyan Empire... The fate of your world depends on the course of your actions upon hearing my story."
