50. Isn’t He a Prince?

Translator: Alanese Fantasy

After waiting for three minutes, the biggest stage lamp in the theatre was turned on and the performance started.

Seeing those characters coming onto the stage one by one, Wei Qing had a headache. He didn’t know much about anime, so he didn’t know many of the roles of the cosplayers. Seeing everyone in garish clothes walking back and forth on the stage, he couldn’t figure out what they were doing and thus felt terrible.

However, the audience on both sides were quite enthusiastic. From time to time, someone would scream and applaud.

Wei Qing kept raising his hand to check the time. After forty minutes, Yan Chuyang finally came out.

He seemed to play the role of the knight. He wore a well-cut uniform of black knights and held a long sword in his hand. With a delicate face, red lips and white teeth, he looked elegant and handsome.

“Wow! What a handsome guy!” As expected, when Yan Chuyang appeared, the girls sitting in front of Wei Qing started to discuss it in a low voice, stunned and continuously praising. “Which school the knight is from? He looks so handsome. I really want his contact information.”

Wei Qing looked proudly at the man who was sparkling on stage, feeling that his man finally came of age.

After a while, a man in a prince’s outfit appeared again. He looked quite good, but was dwarfed by Yan Chuyang.

He was less elegant and tall than Yan Chuyang, and his figure was not as well-proportioned as Yan Chuyang’s. Although he was dressed in a prince’s outfit, he looked like Yan Chuyang’s servant when standing beside him.

“Alas,” Wei Qing shook his head and whispered, “They made a mistake. Why didn’t they let Yan Chuyang be the prince? He is the most suitable candidate.”

Then, Yan Chuyang was stabbed by the prince and died.

Yan Chuyang didn’t have many scenes. He was just a knight. He went down after fighting for the princess with the prince.

Seeing him stepping down, Wei Qing looked around anxiously, touched a guy sitting next to him and whispered, “Will the knight appear again?”

That guy felt confused. “The knight?”

“The one who was stabbed by the prince and died just now.”

“Not again probably,” the boy shook his head and said seriously, “In the fight with the prince for the princess, the knight failed and then was stabbed to death. That’s his end.”

“It shouldn’t be that,” Wei Qing frowned. “The knight is acting so well. Won’t he be resurrected in the future?”

“Ha-ha,” the boy was amused. “You are so humorous. According to the script, the knight has died. Even if he comes out later, it’s to answer a curtain call.”

Wei Qing pulled his tie in annoyance. He wasted almost an hour to see his acting, but in the end, he went down less than five minutes after the performance began.

Wei Qing looked at his watch and found it was already six o’clock in the afternoon. At six twenty, he had a party to attend. It wouldn’t be late if he drove to the party now.

But if he did so, he would miss the curtain call of Yan Chuyang.

Forget it.

Wei Qing took off his watch, stuffed it into his pocket, and began to concentrate on waiting for the end of the show and for the curtain call of Yan Chuyang.

“President, something bad happened.” Yan Chuyang, who was changing his clothes backstage, was startled by the panicked voice of his junior female schoolmate who was running over. He asked, “What’s wrong?”

She took a few breaths and said, “The senior female schoolmate who played a princess was scraped by a car when she rode a bicycle on the way here. She has been sent to the hospital and said that she doesn’t have time to take part in the final scene.”

The princess had very few scenes. She only appeared in the last few minutes of the performance and confessed to the prince. Then the show ended. Because the princess’s part was at the end of the show, the actress came late. But unexpectedly, a car accident happened to her.

“President, what should we do?” The girl said anxiously, “There are over ten minutes before the princess appears. If we don’t have a princess, who will the prince confess to?”

Yan Chuyang frowned and looked up at the person in front of him. “Is there any actress who hasn’t performed?”

The girl shook her head. “There are very few actresses in our performance. In the final scene, almost all female characters will be on stage. It isn’t feasible to replace her with other roles.”

“How about you play the princess?” Thinking for a while, Yan Chuyang suddenly said, “Aren’t you a servant next to the princess? You don’t have many scenes, right?

“But I have lines,” the girl shook her head and said, “I’m going to read the princess’s internal monologue. Without my role, no one will understand the conversation between the princess and the prince.”

Yan Chuyang felt upset. “What should we do?”

“President…” The girl said cautiously, “Why don’t you play the princess?”

“Me?” Yan Chuyang pointed to his own nose and shook his head, “Isn’t that a joke? I’m a man. How can I do that?

“President,” the girl clutched his arm and said seriously, “It’s urgent now. You can’t care about that much. You are the most familiar with each character’s lines among all cosplayers. When you go on stage, you won’t be flustered because of the improvised replacement.”

“But…” Yan Chuyang said unbearably, “I’m a man.”

“But you’re the most slender guy in our club,” the girl said with her eyes wide open. “If other strong men do it, it will definitely be discovered at a glance.”

“So do I.”

“No!” The girl turned around and ran to the dressing table. She found a wig and waved it to Yan Chuyang, “You have fair skin and delicate facial features. If you wear a wig, no one will discover you’re a man when you are far away from him.”

Yan Chuyang frowned and remained silent for a while. He raised his hand to see his watch and frowned helplessly, “It seems the only way…”

In the last scene, Yan Chuyang deliberately asked the lighting engineer to make the stage less bright.

Wei Qing wanted to stay till the curtain call. But seeing the self-indulgent prince boast for a few minutes, he finally couldn’t hold on and leaned back against the chair to doze off.

A piece of gentle music rang, and footsteps were heard. The lights turned dim, indicating the change of the scene.

Wei Qing squinted and felt sleepy. The boy sitting next to him suddenly whistled loudly.

“Gosh! What a pretty girl!”
