Cool I Got Super Powers And All, But I Don't Think I Deserve Them

Chapter 37 - The Final Endeavor; Oroku Hakijuu Follows His Ambitions

The two known as Kori Hanesawa and Biharu Takeda had entered the room, quickly making their way to the middle, standing next to Satoshi Yukimura and Takuchu Otosha.

Satoshi quickly made a comment

"Tch, at least knock first."

Kori looked behind him to see the door for a second before saying

"No one cares."

Satoshi gripped his fist again and said

"It's disrespectful!"

Kori sighed and said

"If that's all you care about, then you're not gonna get far in life. It's better to put your own interests first, there's no p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e in pleasing others."

Satoshi grabbed Kori's collar and said

"Bastard!"

Kurohito waved his hand in the air, saying

"Stop it, Satoshi. Kori is a special case, in both the positive and negative sense. So, report your progress, even though I'm already aware of the end result."

The collar was let go, as Satoshi bitterly backed up a little bit.

Out of fear of what mannerisms Kori would carry if he started, Biharu quickly prepped himself to start. But he was a little too late as Kori simply said

"Yeah, we did it. You have the minerals. There were a couple of hurt people in the process."

Biharu sighed as he saw Kurohito look down in disappointment, he said

"I thought I specifically told you to be diplomatic."

Kori shrugged and said

"Well, we were tied up in chains. There wasn't that much I could do to be diplomatic, so it's justified."

Kurohito now looked up in disappointment and said

"But you two were so much stronger than they were, so with that power, you should've been able to keep it calm. Whatever, I assume you gave them that suitcase of money."

Kori simply shook his head and said

"Nope. We were kidnapped, remember? Didn't really have the opportunity to bring a suitcase with us."

Kurohito stabbed a piece of paper in front of him silently as he said

"That's right…

I guess we're going to have to bring a couple of suitcases of money some other time. Although, I would still see this as somewhat of a failure considering the diplomatic side was left uncompleted.

That being said, I'm adding another person to your next mission, which is going to be very important. It is the final mission in my current strategy that I told you briefly about before. Before continuing, We should call for Korumu to come in."

He didn't need to call for him, as he quickly walked in as he heard his cue.

A young person, similar in age to Biharu, had entered the room. He was wearing a leather face mask, with a mechanic look to it with sharp edges, a soft and loose trench coat that also had sharp edges at the top in a V-cut. With black sneakers bouncing off of the floor, he came closer to the desk and silently nodded.

Kurohito nodded back in satisfaction and turned towards Satoshi and Takuchu and said

"Alright, I will explain the mission now. Although you aren't going with the mission, because of your damage, you are allowed to stay here and listen."

Satoshi simply nodded and remained at his place, whilst Takuchu turned around and said

"Then, I'll get going. I'll send you the details of Kenjiro's abilities later, and I should say now that I think he has the capabilities of becoming a true threat. I don't wanna talk too much now, but I should say that he was using Kori's abilities and then later on my and Satoshi's."

Having said that, Takuchu left the room with a m.a.t.u.r.e elegance and left behind a surprised group of people.

The meeting continued as scheduled, with Biharu listening intently, Kori half-listening and Satoshi caught up in his feelings.

...

Right as the briefing ended, Kori casually commented as he looked towards the floor

"I've seen it for a while now, but why are there a bunch of doc.u.ments on the floor. Didya drop 'em?"

Satoshi, Biharu, and Kurohito exerted extreme shock. Korumu just stared silently

Satoshi, because he didn't believe the disrespect in pointing it out right in front of the boss.

Biharu, because he thought it was unnecessary to point it and embarrass the boss.

Kurohito, because his whole world imploded as his mistake had been noticed and promptly pointed out.

Completely red in his face, Kurohito stared silently and Biharu touched by Kori's shoulder and said

"Ey, you shouldn't say stuff like that here."

Kurohito relived the same shock as he stared over at Biharu, with Satoshi mirroring his expression.

Biharu realized his mistake and waited in painful silence for Kurohito's response.

Kurohito rested his palm on the desk and said

"So.. You knew, but didn't say anything at all? And it was noticed from the start? My mistake…?

BASTARDS, GET OUTTA HERE AND DO YOUR WORK!"

With objects thrown at them, the employees of the Pride group promptly rushed out of the room, leaving a tired Kurohito mentally recovering.

As Kori and Biharu walked through the office to start the preparation for their mission, with Korumu trailing behind them, Satoshi side-tracked and reached for his pocket.

He thought

-That damn Kori, He shall pay for his insolence. That he dares to constantly insult the boss, day in and day out, and then go for my heart as well!

He is a special case though, he has the strength to verify that and I'm still recovering. Although I doubt if I'd win even if I was at full strength, as much as it pains me to admit.

I shall have my revenge in another manner.

Kori, be prepared, as a strength unknown to you is going to haunt you!-

All in the admiration and loyalty for Kurohito Akuma, Satoshi was prepared to fight. He pulled up his phone and went into his contacts folder.

~Saturday~

A cold day, clearing way for the upcoming winter, had slowed the man down in his pursuit of knowledge. The man over 20 years of age, with curly white hair that waved in every direction and eyes containing only half of a life. Every step he took, as he walked down a relatively empty street, had an explosivity to it that quietly resonated in an energy-filled walk. He looked up slowly and saw the sign he was looking for, and entered accordingly. After hearing about this special case the previous day, he'd decided to look into it and decide if it was worth the effort. The answer was yes, as he was intrigued to see what type of person his future opponent was.

Every day for the white-haired man was boring, a slow and burning process of actions that led to nothing in the end. The notion that time passed faster and faster for each year that passed in life ringed no bell to him, it'd only gotten slower and slower.

With no passions, no dreams, and no challenges: For what reason was he continuing to live?

With no passion, the challenges he did face didn't matter to him.

Without the challenges, he had no reason to develop dreams for anything.

Without dreams, he had no passion to do anything.

His father had told him, during what he considered to be his peak in life, that there would be a point in his life where he would have to put all of himself into one to pull through.

As he walked along a long hallway, he thought to himself

- Maybe that time has finally come. A time where I have to put my everything into one to make it? What's this feeling I have? It's been such a long time since I felt this feeling… Excitement! I've poured research into the guy, so I know his background. Maybe he's that guy…? That guy from so long ago. -

For the first time in 2 years, he found himself with a smile running across his face. It was a faint one, but even that was an accomplishment given his track-record.

As he entered the room furthermost down the hallway and encountered a resting guy sitting on a chair.

The guy freaked out and exclaimed

"Who're you!? HAKIJOU!"

Quickly, another person arrived with the same confused face and said

"What are you!?"

The man with white hair neutralized his smile and looked towards the floor with his dead eyes again, and said

"My name is Oroku Hakijuu, I'm 21 years old, and don't panic…

but this place is going to get raided today."

The man on the throne-like seat said

"You're here to attack us!?"

Oroku shook his head timidly and said

"No… I came here to face an opponent who's going to be here to raid apparently."

The person to the side, named Hakijou, rushed towards the timid-looking Oroku and said

"And how are we supposed to trust you not to be a part of them!?"

Oroku just looked up with his lifeless, bored eyes and raised his leg.

As it connected with Hakijou's c.h.e.s.t, he was with an incredible speed flown back into the wall behind them.

The man in the seat had no way, or time, to verify it, but Hakijou had died with that swift kick. With such a simple motion, a person had died, and Oroku simply turned towards the man in the seat and said

"I only have one Kaito power ability, so most interactions end quickly in a simple fashion. I kind of regret the state of mind I had before.

Anyway, I don't care a single bit about your organization or whatever, but I don't play around when it comes to stuff like this. Get out of my way, or I will destroy everything you throw at me."

The man on the throne, sensing a potential great bodyguard, said

"You defeated my second-best guard like that, would you be interested in joining my organization?"

"Nope"

"Why? I pay really well, you won't regret it."

Oroku prepared to walk out of the room, and quickly said

"Money doesn't concern me, I already have so much of it. But being your guard would probably be really boring, there would be no merit in it."

With that, he left the room and a confused gang-leader

- Is this going to last forever?

Am I ever going to get bored with this lifestyle?

I've been having so much fun this far, but is that going to continue? I've been fighting people constantly for several years at this point, and at this point, I can almost win over anyone I face. I don't do it to get stronger, or to protect anyone necessarily. I don't have a goal to run towards, it's just a hobby. But people change, don't they? I'm in a good place now, I have a 'job' where I get to do what I want, and I get money to support Mom with. I'm in a good place right now, but I fear the future. Right now, I have everything to lose…

What am I thinking!? I'm not supposed to be thinking stupid stuff like, let's just continue living and finish this mission! -

Kori walked down the road, with the sun setting itself towards the horizon. Biharu and Korumu walked beside him as they headed towards the destination they'd found out about the day before. A quiet and slightly nerve-wracking silence made the background to their walk. Despite having no reason to be nervous, they felt it linger. They had the pressure on them now, they were the ones who had to finish this mission and complete their boss's ambitions.

As the sign entered their vision, they corrected their costumes and looked up properly.

Kori said

"All right, here we are. Let's do this as well as we can, and accomplish it.

Korumu, I trust you're prepared for your part?"

Korumu pulled up his mask to correct it, and nodded affirmatively.

Biharu squinted his eyes and said

"What?

Why didn't you say anything to me?"

Kori boldly walked forward while saying

"I trust you enough to not have to comment on that."

Biharu raised his eyebrows in surprise.

Kori wasn't usually that open, but he had just indirectly praised Biharu.

With a smile on his face and his hand tied into an excited fist, he walked forth.

"The Final Endeavour" had begun.
