* The Throne in Heaven

- How did John see the throne in heaven? What do you think John meant when he said "I was in the Spirit" [4:2]

Answers:

1. A. He visualizes heaven as there in heaven stood a throne, with one seated on the throne! And the one seated there looks like jasper and carnelian, and around the throne is a rainbow that looks like an emerald.

B. He mentioned He was in the Spirit. He was filled with Holy Spirit to see the visions of Heaven.

2. A. Four Living Creatures:

(1) Lion represents Mark, the Lion of Judah.

(2) Ox Represents Luke, (Mark present Jesus as a brother. or Messiah)

(3) third creature with a human face, Luke describe Jesus in his "Resurrection" or the Resurrected Jesus.

(4) John concentrates on the Holy Spirit or Spirit of Jesus as represented by a flying eagle.

B. Twenty-Four Elders

(1) Representative head of a city, family, tribe or nation, so the "Four and Twenty Elders" are representative of the redeemed human race.

(2) Combination of Old and New Testament

(a) 12 Tribes of Israel

(b) 12 Apostles of Jesus

3. The verse that made an impact for me today is verse 10-11, "the twenty-four elders fall before the one who is seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever; they cast their crowns before the throne, singing, "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."
