34 : Process Fern – 2

“One, two.”
I aimed at the dangling meat fern flower leaves that were crammed inside the interior of the Poisonous Bite Rat’s skull and struck against it with a bone from a Poison Spitting Rat.
Then, after hitting it multiple times, I grinded the leaves by mashing them together.

“Chu-?”
“I guess you could call it a basic fundamental item, but this is going to turn into medicine.”
Patience.
At any rate, be patient.
The leaves were persistently crushed together to create a paste.
Once a certain amount of green paste was developed, I added in more leaves and continued mashing them again.

“Though, I’m really starting to understand how easy this work has become in the modern world.”
In my opinion, I think my efficiency was gradually increasing, little by little.
Still, I patiently carried on with my mundane endeavor, without change.
In real life, this would be done instantly with a mixer.
Even without one, you could probably make this a lot easier by settling for a well-prepared pestle and mortar.
However, since I didn’t even have primitive tools here, all I can do is patiently persevere and move progress along.
After all, to make tools, you’d need knowledge and tools.

“For now, just start squeaking.”
“Chuu?”
“Hmm, I’ll do the humming, so match along with your chirps in whatever way you see fits.”
“Chuu.”
Nevertheless, for some reason or another, I wonder how I’ve become able to understand the cries from the Poison Rat’s Pointed Hat.
Maybe it’s that I’ve grown accustomed to it or perhaps the pointed hat’s grown in intelligence…… Hmm, I also felt like adding more things to it, but right now, I’ll just focus on the work in front of me.

“Mmh, mmhmm~♫”
“Chuu chuu chuchuu chuu…”
While humming, I persistently continued to hammer, grind and mix for a few hours.
The amount of the paste had increased considerably.
There were also little to no leaves left remaining.
With that said, I picked up a small portion of the paste before rolling it up into a dango-like ball that was compact enough to be held between my fingers and set aside a separate skull as a container.

“Doing it like this makes it seem as if I’m just cooking. Though, the taste would certainly be awful in this case.”
“Chuchuu, chuuchuu, chuchuchuu”
Moreover, the interior of the safety area became permeated with a dreadful smell due to the wafting odor of the rats’ pelts as well as the stench of stained blood that’s dripped down, which further mingled with the scent of the mashed up dangling meat fern flower leaves.
I’ve gotten used to it since long ago, but if someone else caught a whiff of it, that alone would probably induce some vomiting.
Even so, it’s not like I could leave the door to the safety area open anyways… Until I figure out a way to deodorize the area, I have no choice but to ignore it.

“This totals up to 10 of them. Admittingly, I’ve used up quite a bit, haven’t I?”
“Charachurachuuta”
As expected, the leaves have become fairly bulky in this current state.
After mashing and compressing them for a while, only 20 of the orbs were made in the end.
Still, even in this form, it appears that the appraisal result still displayed its name as a dangling meat fern flower leaf.
The durability had relatively decreased though.

“Now, stay quiet for a moment.”
“Chu.”
I wrapped the skull that the spheres were in with a Poisonous Bite Rat’s pelt and tied a short dangling meat fern flower vine around the mouth, then placed it on the grudge table.
Thereupon, the usual red, black, and purple mist surrounded it as I began injecting my desires.

“I hope it becomes a recovery item, I hope it becomes a recovery item, I hope it becomes a recovery item…”
If the production goes well this time, I might also be able to use the property of absorbing curses that the dangling meat fern flower’s leaf has to make an item that’ll possess an ability to help me sustain myself.
It would definitely turn out to be a useful item for me considering I seem to only operate in areas with high curse concentration.
I’d absolutely want to get my hands on something like that.

“Okay, it looks ready.”
The fog was lifted and at a glance, a bag had materialized.
In any case, something was obviously done so I’ll just appraise it.

“Well, no mistaking it. It’s a recovery item…”
Anyhow, I took out a single green orb from the bag.
Upon doing so, the number in its description decreased by 1.
It appears that along with the dangling meat fern flower leaf dangos, a bag was also created exclusively for them.

“If you take in consideration that there could be enemies that drains your satiety or circumstances where you might not be able to replenish your food sources for a long time, it’s not bad at all.”
I stuffed a dangling meat fern flower leaf dango into my mouth.
I didn’t dry them or anything in particular so the dango itself is quite soft.
As for the taste…

“So bitter!?”
It had a foul taste that was similar to the incomparable Poisonous Bite Rat meat from before.
Though, I wonder if it’s actually possible to add this into my diet or not… I have『Unusual Cuisine Eater・1』so food that’s judged to be unappetizing gets improved slightly, but the taste is still a little…
Yeah, let’s only eat it when we really need to.
Since its ability that replenishes hunger is dependent on the curse concentration around me, it was a fairly splendid item which allowed me to restore 10 satiety just by eating one.

“Ah, maybe it’ll taste better if I mix in the fruit of a dangling meat fern flower.”
When creating the dangos, I could possibly use the high-quality meat from a blooming dangling meat fern flower to improve its overall flavor.
Surely, the dangling meat fern flowers in the safety room will blossom within a day or two. I’ll need to figure out a way to deal with them, but I’ll likely be able to find something out if I head over to the 3rd layer.

“Alright. Let’s explore the 3rd layer tomorrow. It’s about time for me to clear the Tower of Mice anyways.”
“Chuu”
Unfortunately, while planning for tomorrow and onwards, my login time for today had expired.
I checked to make sure that there wasn’t anything amiss with the safety area or myself for that matter and logged out.
