40 : Planning Time – 2

“Well, I managed to gather all the materials one way or another.”
“Chuu”
Thursday.
Once I’d logged in, I collected roughly 30 Young Poisonous Rat tails from the 3rd floor.
Of course, I didn’t go after the rats that had amassed in the open hall, but rather, I diligently hunted down the ones that were loitering around the 3rd floor, enticed by the smell of the blooming dangling meat fern flowers.

“First, I’ll… chop these up.”
I stuffed the Young Poisonous Rat tails into the skull of a Poisonous Bite Rat and started mincing them up using a Poisonous Bite Rat’s front tooth.
Naturally, with the front tooth’s unique property, venom seeped out and soaked into the product every time I chopped it. Though, that was within my range of expectations so it wasn’t a problem.

“It ended up turning into some nice-looking mince meat.”
The result was mince meat made out of Young Poisonous Rat tails.
However, it wasn’t exactly the meat that was going to be used, but the poison in the meat instead.
With that said, I grabbed a portion of the meat and squeezed it as hard as I could over the usual tea bowl.
Doing so allowed not only the liquid of the meat to accumulate into the bowl, but also a small amount of another fluid which irritated my hands as well.

“Phew… I was able to procure a bit of it somehow.”
“Chuchuu”
From there, I continued my work for about an hour.
Along the way, my steps included actions such as overlapping the bones of a Poisonous Bite Rat and crushing them against each other to extract all the fluid and poison I could get out of them.
Then, while eating the minced tail meat (raw) which had lost most of the liquid and venom it contained, I appraised the wrung out fluids.

I guess I’ve been skipping through the basics thus far and was putting it into practical use since the beginning.
Which means, rather than strengthening the primordial venom, what we wanted to do was to raise its standards.
On grounds of this, I set it down on the grudge table with haste.

“I seek to better the caliber of my ability. I am pursuing something that’ll make up for what I lack.”
My 13 eyes gaze into the red, black, and purple mist as it surrounds the tea bowl.

“It doesn’t have to be stronger. It just has to not get weaker.”
I muttered the power that I had desired.

“For the sake of acquiring this power I’ve sought after, I am willing to drink this poison. I will come to understand the poison I’ve bestowed upon myself, consume it, and make the power my own.”
The geometric pattern that appeared this time was much simpler than the previous.
However, its simplicity made me feel as if it was something that should be committed to memory.


“Please, offer me the opportunity to display my resolve. A chance to obtain an eye that will ensure poison through my gaze. A curse that will cascade poison into the bodies of my enemies!”
The fog was soberly swallowed up into the tea bowl and the primordial venom was amended.
Once the fog had cleared, I picked up the tea bowl and enacted my appraisal as per usual.

I’m sure it’s probably less dangerous and not as unknown compared to the previous two.
Still, I needed to become familiar with this poison to delve deeper into the unknown.
In that case, there’s no need for me to hesitate.
I downed it all.

“Nn…”
The poison… was exceedingly mild.
My tongue went numb, my throat burned, and my stomach grew hotter, but only for a slight bit.
I’m positive that even some strong alcohol would be more destructive than this.

“As I thought, this doesn’t really stimulate me.”
The poison displayed on me was a little over 50.
No visual or auditory hallucinations, no pain, no unpleasant smells.
The only developments that had occurred were within the realm of the known.

“Nevertheless… it doesn’t change the fact that it was excellent. It fulfilled what I was missing and to deepen my understanding of what I already know is another way of making the unknown known.”
The gears were meshing.
What I had been forcing to move up until now will be refined though this.
Akin to a broken vase that has regained it’s former shape, or a messy room that has been organized, chaos is converted into order.

“Looks like I was able to learn it without any issues.”
Eventually, the poison dissipated from my body and a message came forth, informing me of my successful acquisition and level-up.
I’ve thought about this before, but it seems like learning and enhancing sorcery gives out a ton of experience points.

“Phew… so, what does ＋＋ even do?”
As much as I would like to bask in the afterglow of the poison, it’s time to check and confirm things.
I opened up my status.

“Even though it’s modest, it’s actually quite the strong enhancement…”
The spell’s cost was the part that was upgraded.
It set an HP limit for the damage I’d take from the cost.
At a glance, it doesn’t really appear to be all that, but since I’m using my evil eye in areas such as the dungeon’s depths where the curse concentration was at 11 or higher, I’ll gladly accept this improvement.

“A change, huh…”
It seems like something concerning my『Magic Eye Of Poison・1＋＋』was also being implied here.
Unless I figure out the next poison, I have no idea what sort of change it could be, but if we get some kind of poison from Venomulard and use it as the main ingredient for another strengthening, we might get something out of it.

“Well, let’s call it a day. Tomorrow, I’ll explore the areas I haven’t visited before.”
“Chu!”
