Danmachi: Obligations To The Past

Chapter 11 - Sharingan Base Abilities

He didn't waste time testing his new eyes. They allowed him to see things quicker than before. If he had to quantify the speed his eyes slowed down time then it would be as followed:

With one tomoe he could see up to 1.5 times faster than the average person. He could see the dust in the air move about but they were still hard for him to track. They blended with the background.

With 2 tomoe he was able to see up to 3 times the speed of an average person, but at this speed his body could hardly keep up. When he sparred with Zeus he could see the blow coming and his body was able to intercept at the last second. At this level, he was capable of better making out the particles in the air. Also, details become more visible and distinguishable like the slight crack in a wall or the tilt of a pillar no normal eye could perceive.

At 3 tomoe the magnification of his senses went beyond what his current body could handle. Nia said that it amplified his original sight by 4.5 times the average. He could see particles of dust and dirt in the air moving in slow motion, but his body was also moving almost as slow. he could adjust this magnification between the three now so it was not always so straining. If he sparred with a level 3 then he could probably see the attack approaching only to be helpless in defending. He was thinking how heartbreaking it would be to be in such a fight and watch himself being pummeled in slow motion.

But Bell couldn't really know the practicality of it in a spar against such an opponent because his familia was only him and Hestia. The most he could do was enter the dungeon and fight the top five level's monsters and see how it would fair. Of course, his advisor Eina was completely against anything past the third floor. Even thought she was a pain, her info packets on floors was helpful for him to know what was there. He was able to know what he really wanted to fight on each floor and with his maps ability tied to his eyes he was able to see and find more things.

Another thing his eyes gave him was the ability to see someone's magic circulation. As long as there was not a huge disparity then he was able to see the level of magic someone had. He often sees humans with no magic circulation at all. The elves mostly always had incalculable magic in their bodies. It hurt his eyes to focus too much on them. Nia informed him that this would become easier the higher he leveled himself up, but that was easier said than done.

The genjutsu or illusory ability he had was minimal but if he used it in certain ways then it was extremely deadly. He was capable of tricking monsters into thinking his katana was just a wakizashi and then he'd slay them as easy as that. He was also able to full people of a similar level as him into thinking no one was there. He wasn't too sure if it would work on higher leveled familia members, but he would get his chance to test that sooner or later.

All these increases came at a cost relative to the way he was using them. His magic depleted faster the more he magnified his sight. The depletion only compounded if he tried to sense other people or monsters nearby by their magic and illusions basically tapped him out after three uses. It all depended on the circ.u.mstances, but it didn't change the fact that they were cheats that needed to be hidden. They were a trump card that would benefit him in the long run.

"Nia, why was it that my magic increased so much more than the other stats?" Bell was currently walking toward the dungeon. He had forgot to ask this earlier this week because he was so caught up in figuring out the limits of his current sharingan.

*User's strong d.e.s.i.r.e for your eye's progress manipulated the blessing to prioritize them thus translating into magic overgrowth.*

"I guess that makes sense. Well, can you bring up my store?" Now that he got a Falna, he met the initial requirement to use the stores other merchandise.

*

Store:

~ Bloodborne ~

~ ??? ~

~ ??? ~

~ Supplements ~

*

He already knew what Supplements. He has had that unlocked since the beginning so the first thing that caught his eye was obviously Bloodborne. He loved this game in his past life. He even modeled his current clothing off it. It'd be nice if he didn't have to search to get the clothes tailored specifically like he did for what he's wearing now. But back to the question marks.. They confused him. He thought all the store would be unlocked now, "What's the question marks, Nia?"

*It is locked. You require more levels to unlock.*

'Typical,' he swore in his head and opened the only new tab he could. It was just weapons and the armor. Of course there was one weapon there that suited his current fighting style perfectly. He really wanted the Chikage, but it was really was expensive. He wanted, no, needed it. He wasn't sure why, but the idea of using it was calling to him. Another thing that caught his eye was the distinct absence of the smaller items. "Why can't I buy beast pellets or fire paper?"

*Creator felt they were no fun. He wanted you to learn magic if you want fire in combat.*

"What a buzzkill," he mumbled shaking his head. Bell was getting strange looks walking to the dungeon, but he didn't notice. From the outside it seemed like he was talking to himself or an imaginary friend. It didn't mattered to him because he finally made it to the dungeon to try out the 4th and 5th floors.

Bell stood outside the tower and clasped his hands together warming them up. He had a goal now and he needed Valis to use in his personal store. "Alright, lets go make some money!" and ran down the stairs.

'Nia, set my map in the corner of my vision,' he ordered and without saying a word a small circular radar like map appeared. There was the ticks of a compass on the outside and he was currently following the shortest path to his target floor today.

He drew his katana just in case something slipped through his senses. As he was running along he saw three blips on his map. He was still on the first floor so he could guess that they were probably goblins. Sure enough they were and they may have seemed more potent if he was an average beginner. Bell quickly dashed and slashed the first bisecting it and dispersing it into black smoke. The other two attacked almost simultaneously, but rather uncoordinatedly. Bell ducked under the left while parrying the others attack.

After making sure the right goblin was off balance, Bell pivoted, turned, and threw his left heel into it's right cheek breaking it's neck with a crunch. Perfect height for kicking. It was enough force to toss it off into the nearby wall. The only still living goblin tried to attack again only to fail and get stabbed in the neck. All this was done without using his eyes.

Bell picked up the left behind magic stones and tossed them into his backpack. All his inventory space was used for healing potions. They were small so putting them in the bag was no problem. Bell sighed, "That was a decent warmup. Let's keep moving." Standing up, he continued to his destination.
