Danmachi: Obligations To The Past

Bell was asleep in his bed covered in bandages. They were wrapped tightly around his head and left arm. The breathing was rhythmic of someone who was sleeping heavily.

"Guuuh..." g.r.o.a.n.e.d Bell. His eyes began to flutter and the first thing he sees is the roof of a wooden house. "Ugh, I'm so dizzy... and thirsty. When was the last time I had water." Were the first words he squeezed out. These only seemed to increase the pain in his head so he quickly stopped talking.

Next to him on the nearby table was a glass of water. Bell attempted to reach for it but his arms and hands were too weak to hold up the cup.

'Shit, not only am I suffering from extreme pain but my throat is like a desert.' He grumbled in his head. He couldn't do much so he decided to take a second to parcel through the information he had.

'It appears that I really am Bell. I don't remember anything about his parents. I know Bell's grandfather is Zeus so that could come in handy. Bell really didn't do much but help pick the crops in the village. I have to prepare. I don't want to be a useless weakling. I want to strength to create my own freedom.'

While he was sorting out his thoughts a door opened and closed signaling the arrival of his grandpa and sure enough; it was Zeus.

"Thank goodness you're awake Bell. I thought I was gonna lose you too. What did I say about going off on your own?"

"I'm sorry grandpa. I know I'm wrong." Said Bell.

"Good, now I bet your thirsty so drink this water." Thus he helped Bell drink from the cup. "Now I'm gonna bring you some food. You must be hungry considering you've been out cold for three days."

While Zeus was heading out of the room Bell was trying to pull up his system.

'Open! No that's not it. Hmm... system start? Nothing either. Okay. I'll eat first then deal with the wishes.' He thought.

Zeus returned with a simple bowl of soup and some bread which Bell proceeded to eat like a ravenous animal. He was so hungry his stomach had begun to feel pained so the soup was like a five star meal.

"Now that your done eating. Rest some more and we'll try and see if you're ready to leave bed tomorrow. Goodnight Bell." Said Zeus.

"Goodnight gramps." Replied Bell and then he started to crack the system again. 'System begin...! Damn. That didn't work either. I'm running out of options here.' Then suddenly a window popped in his field of vision.

5.... 4.... 3.... 2.... 1.... Integration commencing*

And like a wave crashing into a cliff face, Bell's brain was assaulted with pain similar to when he awoke causing his nose to bleed and for him to gasp for air. This pain went on for what seemed like a lifetime for him when in reality, it was probably no more than a few minutes.

Bell really had no idea how the thing worked because the man never explained it. 'Yes, please begin.'

Even if it doesn't make him a god tier being in this world the guide is already a cheat. Bell proceeded to open stats and what he saw was rather disappointing.

Looking at his pitiful stats, Bell couldn't help but sigh. One must start somewhere and he knew that it was going to be a long road but he had hope that with training and discipline, he could fend for himself better than the original Bell ever did.

With that thought, he let out a sigh and did as his grandfather had instructed. Within minutes of closing his eyes did he fall asleep.

Tomorrow was the beginning of his new journey.
