Dark Light Online

Five years later and I was still around the bottom in everything, money, social standing, and job. It was my birthday today, I was turning 37, and was still as lonely as when I came into this world. But I asked my boss for a half day which thankfully he accepted the request. I worked at the nearby high school as a janitor. Well I worked as a janitor, but not in the traditional sense, I fixed the malfunctioning and clogged cleaning bots that roamed the school. I left work at around 12:30 pm, I was going to dip into my savings a bit and splurge on the newest HOD, the Holographic Ocular Operator Titanium Electron Rechargeable System, or HOOTERS for short. While the name needed a little work the HOOTERS was the cunning edge of Holographic implants, made by the most famous company in the world, Iudus. After the dawn of the 22nd century technology leaped forward and at the head of this jump was Iudus. Iudus was the creator of the Virtual Reality Capsule, an amazing device invented by Christian Baker, a leading neuroscientist and engineer, in the year 2107. After a few years the technology was made available to all but the poorest, which sadly I was a part of. I had about 145,000 credits saved up and the HOOTERS was about 130,000 credits which I could barely afford.

After I got home I changed out of my work clothes into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt perfect for the cool Syracuse air. When I reached the Iudus store there was line out to the street with people waiting anxiously for the store to reopen because they sold out of HOOTERS earlier. 5 minutes later the store opened and the employees briskly moved through the line and after only 30 minutes I had my HOOTERS in my hands and was walking to the nearest implant clinic with a group of people. After a harmless 10 minute procedure I was walking out with my new HOOTERS booting up, after it turned on I saw a couple apps which I couldn't wait to pick through at home. But before I went home I had a couple of errands to run.

After I got home and made myself a peanut butter sandwich I finally looked through my HOOTERS, the first couple apps were just the basic message system and settings. But the last app that I went to was the best app ever, the internet. When I clicked the app it opened up to Iudus' home page because they were the company that made it, which had a timer counting down on it. I read a little bit and learned that the countdown was for the release of Iudus' newest game, Dark Light Online, a medieval VRMMORPG that was supposed to be indistinguishable from real life. I decided to watch the livestream that was currently ongoing with the lead developers of the game, Richard Kasen and Francesca Sotelo.

"I'm here with Richard and Francesca of Iudus and if you are just joining us you might of missed the biggest piece of news pertaining to Dark Light Online, the developers hid 10 golden tickets and one Jade ticket in the boxes of their newest product the HOOTERS." the interviewer said to the camera.

"Yes, that's right Tim the tickets can be used to get a free special copy of the game and a free special virtual reality capsule. Also the Jade ticket finder will get a bonus in-game as well." added Francesca.

"They are extremely rare as over 2,000,000,000 copies of the product have been made and there are only 11 special tickets." said Richard. "So folks keep an eye out, because you may be that lucky winner!" stated the reporter. I shut the live stream off after that realizing how late it had gotten I cleaned up my dinner and went to sleep hoping and praying to some higher power that my life would get better. Little did I know, somebody or something was really listening.
