DC: Vampire

Chapter 3 - First Lesson, a Surprise, and a Talk

"Hi, it's nice to meet you all, my name's Willow West," an attractive redhead said to me and the others sitting next to me. She looked intently at me, scanning my face and with my enhanced eyes, I saw her quickly take a picture of my face with a high-tech camera.

So, it turns out Kid Flash is in my group fro my first group project.

How did it get to this?

. . .

Walking into the classroom I discovered that the class was much bigger than I anticipated. I'd already seen my class at the start of the College Year, about 2 weeks ago, and it was much smaller than what I was seeing right now. The first lessons are starting today, 2 weeks ago was more to get us used to our classrooms and what we had to expect for the next year--so an induction day if you wanna call it anything.

But right now, the class seemed to have gotten about 20 new students.

Looking around my eyes locked onto one certain redhead.

Oh no.

Keeping my head down and trying to make my presence as small as possible, I walked to an empty seat near the back.

Putting all my stuff under the desk, I sat down and waited for the lesson to start. But despite how I tried, I couldn't stop wondering why Kid Flash was in my class. From most of the sources I can mentally cite, Kid Flash didn't want to become a doctor. If anything, the Kid Flash from Young Justice majored in Physics.

So why is she here?

My thoughts were brought to an end as the professor came in through the door and stood in front of her desk.

"Hello class," she smiled before seeming to notice the confusion of students like me, "Some of you might have noticed our class has gotten a little bigger, and I'll explain why in a minute. First, however, I have to make a proper introduction," she continued smiling but turned around and walked to the blackboard behind her before writing her name on it before turning back around, "To those of you who don't know me, I'm the Professor of Medical Science, you can call me Miss Rivers."

This garnered nods from those who hadn't been in the induction class 2 weeks ago. Seeing this, Miss Rivers went on to explain their presence.

"These students are here because they're taking courses that are also sciences. They also recently put in requests to gain extra credit for their own gain by learning about how their courses affect the human body and medicine itself. We have people studying Chemistry here to understand how certain chemicals affect the body and how medicine and chemistry go hand in hand, while we have Biology majors here so they can get a better grasp of Anatomy and their Major," she took a moment to catch her breath, while pulling her brown hair back into a ponytail before carrying on, "The point is, they're here to gain something, so treat them as your classmates from now on and if they ask something of you, try and help them as long as it isn't something too absurd. Anyway, the first thing we're gonna do is to sort you into groups so we can get started on a little group project that will test your knowledge on science and medical science as a whole, while also working as an ice breaker."

She stopped her explanation and I felt a bit more enlightened. I guess Kid Flash is joining the subject to support her Major. Makes sense, she does seem like the type of person who has to do everything she can to get the best result possible.

Honestly, I should have expected a College as elite as mine to encourage students to join as many classes as possible. Anything to further expand your mind, yada yada yada. Same old same old.

Anyway, I could only cross my fingers and hope I didn't get placed with a certain redhead.

Alas, my hopes didn't come true.

. . .

Hence why I'm in this situation.

Faking a smile, I made an introduction of my own, "It's good to meet you too, Willow. My name's Noah Winters, I hope we can all get along," nodding my head to the others, I let them get on with their introductions.

But I didn't take my eyes off of Willow and she didn't look away from me either. Though I did use my newly improved brain to listen and memorize the names of my group members. Don't want to make a bad impression after all.

When the last person made their introductions, Willow smiled at all of us and spoke, "So, how do you guys think we should go about our group project?" as she said this, the others started thinking before discussing with Willow about what they think we should do.

The group project we had to do was make an accurate diagram of the human body and all it's different systems i.e the pulmonary system, or the nervous system. The way we'd include other people's subjects was up to us.

Deciding to pitch in, I spoke up, "I've got an idea," this got their attention, so I carried on, "We could each do a diagram on a different system on some see-through plastic sheets, they should have some of those around here, and when we bring them together they make the full human body. For the thing about adding the other's subjects to the diagram, for example, anyone majoring in Chemistry can explain the hormones of the human body and what they're made up of, you could probably add some stuff about Synapses as well but maybe someone who majors in Biology might want to do that. Honestly, you guys know what you're best at, so add whatever you know the most about."

The others looked at me before looking at one another. After a series of looking at each other, Willow looked at me with a smile before saying something.

"That's a pretty good idea, Noah," she smiled to us and herself, probably thinking about how some villain was actually just an innocent little college boy. Oh boy, do I have a surprise for you, Miss Flash. Next minute we're alone, I'm breaking the news that I know who you are. Let her know I'm not an idiot who can't tell who she is despite her voice being the exact same and her facial features not being that well hidden by her mask.

Might seem a bit impulsive but I've got it planned out, so it shouldn't backfire in my face. 'Shouldn't' being the operative word.

Seeing that the others agree with my idea, I smiled and stood up, "Well, I'll go and get the sheets. Willow, could you come with me to help me find them? You seem like a pretty quick person, so you should shorten the time needed for us to find the stuff," I smirked at her stiffening up, her green eyes boring holes into my face.

"Y-yeah, I'll come help," she trailed off with an awkward laugh and stood up and followed me to the equipment office that was down the hallway.*

(*A/N - I mean, we had one of these in my College. Sort of like a place where you could get stuff to do your course work and other projects i.e all the different kinds of books you'd need, or materials you required a project.)

When we got out the door of the classroom, Willow stopped in front of me and turned around to look at me.

"So, did you ask me to come with you because you think I'm hot?" she smirked at me, a mischievous light in her green eyes, "Because while I think you're pretty cute as well, I don't think we're that compatible--" she cut herself off when she saw my smile.

A confident smile that seemed to make her realize I knew.

"I know who you are, Willow West," I started, chuckling a little, "It's weird to think others haven't put it together themselves. You sound the same, your facial features are the same--you even act the same as you do in your costume!" I laughed and shook my head, genuinely shocked people don't figure out who superheroes are.

Willow stood stock-still and didn't move as she just stared at me. We stood in silence before she nervously chuckled and tried to look confused, "Hahaha...I don't know who you think I am, but I'm pretty sure you have me mistaken for someone else..." she tried to walk past me but I put a hand on her shoulder and stopped her in her tracks. She tried to f.o.r.c.i.b.l.y get past my hand but my strength far outmatched hers.

"Willow, I know you're Kid Flash. Even if you can fool everyone else with your costume, you can't fool me; your blood still has the same scent as when you're in costume. It smells like lightning. Sort of like a weird ozone-smell," I pondered for a minute before carrying on before I meandered too much, "The point is, Willow, I know who you are, and I saw you take a picture of my face earlier, so I know you remember me from last night. All I want to do is talk."

Hearing me, Willow stopped trying to walk away and just looked up at me and I just looked back and got a proper chance to take in her appearance.

She was around 5'7" and had a runner's physique, toned and slender, though she still had curves that enhanced her body's beauty. She had a pretty face with light freckles over her nose and cheeks and honestly, they didn't mare her appearance, they just made her look cuter.

Finally, she spoke after seemingly thinking for a while, "...Okay, we can talk after class. But if you tell anyone about my identity--" she pointed a finger at my face and I just harmlessly smiled as I held up my hands in mock surrender and spoke in reply.

"I know, I know, you'll ruin my life or whatever - I won't say a word, Miss Flash," finishing it with a wink at her, she went a bit red before letting out a huff and walking off to the equipment room.

Ho ho? She seems to be the kind who tries to tease others but can't handle it herself? How cute.

Chuckling while thinking this, I followed after her, wanting to get the lesson over and done with so we could talk.

. . .

The lesson had gone okay with us making some good progress on our project. I'd been assigned to draw the diagram about the Cardiovascular System which I found incredibly ironic but I kept my laughter to myself and just got on with it.

Apart from working on my diagram, most of my time was spent saying multiple kinds of speed-related puns to Willow, constantly hinting at her secret identity that grated her to no end. But without her giving away the jig, she couldn't overreact or fire back. Seeing her getting so annoyed and worked up was hilarious. I wonder, did becoming a Vampire make me a bit sadistic?

Honestly, teasing her like this was quickly becoming a favored past time for me.

Right now, however, we'd found a quiet place where we could talk and I decided to stop annoying her, for now, purely because I wanted to have an actual conversation with her.

Throwing her bag onto the bench near us, Willow came up to me and pointed at my face again, "You d.i.c.k! Why'd you keep saying stuff like that in class?! You could give away my identity!" her voice was in between a whisper and a shout but her eyes were squinted and looking at me with a bit of anger but mainly exhaustion from having to deal with me for the past hour and a half.

But even then, I rolled my eyes at her, "Oh please, if they can't figure out who you are purely based off of your voice and how you act, then they won't figure it out just because I'm throwing around speed-related jokes," laughing a little, I carried on, "Like, come on, Willow, you're a clever girl. So don't overreact. Anyways, after what I tell you, you're free to fire back any jokes you want to~" smiling at her, I seemed to diffuse her anger as she visibly deflated and just trudged over to the bench and sat next to her bag.

Seeing me just standing there, she got a little impatient and snapped a little at me.

"Well, come on then! Start talking!" she huffed, "I haven't got all day. I have class in, like, 10 minutes..."

Nodding I walked over and sat next to her before starting to speak about myself, "Okay, Willow, I need your word that you won't tell anyone about what I'm about to tell you. I'm only telling you so you get why I was trying to steal that blood last night, and also because I'm gonna need some facilities to properly...test myself," trailing off for a second, I re-focused and looked seriously at Willow, with none of the teasing-attitude of before, "I need your word, Willow, that you won't tell anyone unless you ask my permission beforehand and I agree."

Slightly taken aback by my serious attitude, Willow nodded stiffly before speaking in an equally serious voice, "I give you my word, Noah. I won't tell anyone about your secret as long as you don't tell anyone mine."

Nodding my head at her answer, I started to explain, "Good. Well, Willow, buckle up, because what I'm about to tell you is pretty crazy," smiling at this situation, I started explaining how I'm a Vampire.
