After Mark completed reading the description of the Void Bolt skill, he lifted his hand and shot a Void Bolt to the wall to test it out. A dark gray bolt shot from his hand to the wall as fast as a regular bolt that was shot from a crossbow as he had seen from videos. He tried casting the spell continually to check its cooldown time and he learned that he can only cast one Void Bolt per second. It was so dark and silent that it was almost invisible which made him happy since it was perfect for ambushing. Of course it did not satisfy his craving for showy, eye candy spells but he imagined that sooner or later, some of the spells further down the branch will be like those graphics heavy skill. He wished, because one of the main reason he had always played as a wizard or a mage character in games was because of those dizzy inducing magic spells.

Mark continued with his dungeon run since he still felt fine and not at all tired as he expected would have happened by the time he finished his second combat, when he started this second floor run. After walking for a few minutes, he saw another group of goblins. Thee were still three of them and that gave him a bit of confidence. He Telekinetically controlled the iron knife in front of him and shot a Void Bolt on one of them twice until it was dead. The other two goblin ran at him not caring that one of their friends fell from the onslaught . He focused on the goblins, hitting them with the bolt one after another until all of them died. It was a good thing that the range of the bolt was fifty feet because he needed to hit the goblins twice before they went down.

Once all of the goblins were dead, Mark checked his surroundings to make sure there were no lurking enemies that would ambush him. When he felt safe, he opened his Notification Window to check. He did not level up but it did list the amount of damage he dealt to the goblin and the experience points that he earned and from what he saw, it would probably take another four or five goblins for the next level up.

There were two items that dropped from the goblins and they were both weapons. An iron knife again and an iron spear. Both weapons were very crude since they were level one items, Mark guessed. He would have like to use Identify since with it he, will know the items parameter and the stats of the enemies although he was guessing that at level one, Identify would not have been able to provide a lot of information. He decided that once he was able to level up Void Bolt to around three, he will put a point on Identify. He was not that wary in putting in the points to the skills because of the skill reset button but he did need to be a little bit careful since it will take a month for him to be able to do a skill reset.

After Mark checked everything that he wanted to, he then waited for a bit until his MP was full. The next group that he saw was a couple of goblins and a wolf. That’s new, Mark thought. He prepared himself and when he was near enough, he targeted the wolf first just to make sure that it will die before it got near him.

The wolf also only took a couple of hits before it died then he targeted the two goblins. All of the monsters died before any one of them reached twenty feet of him. He waited for the loot to drop and examined what he received. These time he received three drops and was happy that the drop rate for the first run was good. The items that he received were an Iron Knife, a Leather Sandal and a Skill point . When he checked the Notification Window, he saw that he leveled up to four. He put his stat point to Intelligence pushing it up to nine then he put one skill point to Void Bolt to increase its damage. When he read the Void Bolt’s description, it did say that the damage increased to one hundred plus of course the percentage added by his Intelligence which was nine multiplied to point twenty five. That meant, that he would be one shotting the mobs here at the Second Floor of the dungeon. He kept the dropped skill point. he did not want to add it to Void Bolt for now since the MP cost was getting expensive. More than likely, he would add it to Inventory until it was level three, since that was the requirement for Replication. Then once he had another skill point, he will add it to Replication for him to able to use the skill as soon as possible for earning money.

Mark continued walking. His earlier plan was to stop once he got exhausted with the battle but ever since his Vitality went up to five, he felt great. Thinking that since five is the average stat of a normal human male, that meant that all other men who were fit enough felt this way every day and this made him regret the fact that he did not try harder to lose weight.

When he came across the next group of enemies, there were five of them. Three goblin and two wolves. He was pleased to remember that level two of Void Bolt added another twenty feet to its range making the total, seventy feet. He was also gratified to experience the fact that the bolt has some mild homing feature making him hit the enemies even though he was not an expert marksman. The homing feature of the bolt was there but it was not absolute. If the enemy was fast enough to avoid the bolt, like for example the goblin stumbling, or if there was an obstruction, the bolt will miss. He immediately casted the spell to the enemies one by one and he was glad to see that he was one shotting the goblins and the wolves and all of them died. Mark felt exhilarated. This was what it meant to be a mage, Mark thought, slinging bolts of power left and right until all of your enemies were annihilated.
