Chapter 12: New world

The next morning... Zhou Yan woke up.

He was a little surprised. During these three days, he had already adapted to his life in prison. He woke up at 7:25 every morning and packed the bedding. Someone would bring breakfast.

As the execution date is approaching, Zhou Yan does not have such activities as outdoor ventilation. On the other hand, he does not need to work, just stay in the cell for 24 hours. Fortunately, the cell has good facilities, the bed is soft enough, and the food is good.

There are still two days before his execution date.

To be more precise, there are only 30 hours left. Tonight, I will be taken out, take a shower, call my relatives and friends for 20 minutes, and then have a dinner that I can order by myself. At 9 o'clock the next day, I will say goodbye to the world. Up.

So, what will happen to oneself depends on today.

Soon, breakfast was delivered, milk, bread, fried eggs, a few small persimmons, and a roasted ham. The breakfast in Western countries before the rebirth should not be much better than this.

Zhou Yan picked up the dinner plate and ate slowly with the plastic tableware, but his eyes looked at the clock on the opposite wall through the iron window.

He doesn't know if the lawyer named Zou can succeed... he needs to wait.

   10:40...

"Didi", a sound came from the electronic door in the corridor.

   Zhou Yan's hands clenched involuntarily.

According to the normal schedule, lunch should be 11 o'clock. At that time, there will be prison guards to bring lunch over, and by the way, take away the dishes that have been eaten in the morning.

But today, it was 10 minutes ahead of schedule.

Soon, the familiar prison guard came into Zhou Yan's line of sight, without a lunch plate in his hand.

"Your lawyer wants to see you..." the prison guard said, with a hint of ‘what the hell?’ in his tone.

Zhou Yan suppressed his anxiety: "Are there anyone else besides the lawyer?" he asked.

The prison guard opened the cell door impatiently: "There are two more detectives."

As he said, he opened the cell door, walked in, and took out the handcuffs and tied Zhou Yan's hands together.

"Um... please wait a minute." Zhou Yan said.

   "What are you doing?"

   "I take the book..."

  ......

  ......

Soon, Zhou Yan was taken to the interrogation room again.

This is the third time he has been here.

And this time, there were three people in this room.

One of them is Lawyer Zou. At the moment he is sitting on the side of the table, his expression on his face turned out to be very calm and confident.

The remaining two are a man and a woman. At this moment, the man is looking at the documents in his hand and his face is calm.

Next to this man, there was a girl who was dressed mature, but she was very young. For a while, Zhou Yan could not tell her age, but one thing is certain, this girl is very beautiful. It would be better if the eyes looking at me could be softer.

Seeing Zhou Yan walking in, Chen Hao raised his head, just glanced briefly, and turned to Lawyer Zou: "You just called me over because there was a little dust in front of the door?"

Attorney Zou was not at all shocked, and nodded: "My client has such a request, I will naturally try my best to handle it, and this is in compliance with the regulations."

Chen Hao sighed and put some papers in his hands on the table.

At this moment, Zhou Yan has already sat opposite him.

Chen Hao looked towards Zhou Yan...

"Well, now I'm here, what do you want to tell me about the memory of your sudden recovery, and the pinch of ‘dust’ in your memory?"

Chen Hao’s tone was very calm, but he deliberately increased the word ‘dust’.

This is an understatement of irony...

What he didn't expect was that Zhou Yan's first sentence was...: "Uh, how do you call it?"

"What?" Chen Hao's eyebrows couldn't be stretched, keeping calm.

This is no wonder. I think that a few months ago, Chen Hao was responsible for Zhou Yan's case. For a long time, the two of them sat face to face like they are now. At this moment, Zhou Yan appeared as if he didn't recognize himself! Is this a provocation?

"Ah, don't get me wrong, I was sick some time ago and lost a memory by the way," he explained.

Chen Hao looked up and down at the kid sitting opposite him, wondering, is this guy a memory recovery or amnesia?

But he didn't care, so he leaned back on the chair, folded his hands, and assumed a very stylish posture.

"I don't care what happened to your memory, anyway, what do you want to do now?"

"I want to see all the records of the case, and I also want to go to the scene of the crime, which is the warehouse."

   "Why?"

"I am innocent!" Zhou Yan said, looking straight into the other's eyes.

"Hehe, it's interesting, if you are innocent, why are you raising an objection now?"

"I was ill before, mentally ill, and my brain is not bright. It is written in the medical record of the hospital. It is genuine and fair-minded!"

"..." Chen Hao was a bit unable to find a word to refute for a while.

Or else, it's easy to get the money. At this point, attorney Zou smiled and said: "Mr. Chen, no matter when my client raises an objection, we are obliged to cooperate."

"It's been so long, besides, he will be executed tomorrow."

"You also said that the sentence will be executed tomorrow, so today... I will trouble Mr. Chen to accompany us."

Chen Hao looked at Zhou Yan, then took a mere glance at Lawyer Zou, and was silent for a long time.

"Okay...but you know, this is a waste of time!"

Attorney Zou smiled all over his face and bowed pleasingly with a low eyebrow: "We are happy."

  ......

With two police cars driving their sirens, UU Reading www.uukanshu.com drove unimpeded all the way to the warehouse in the old city.

Zhou Yan and lawyer Zou sat in a car. In the other car, Lin Xi and Chen Hao.

Zhou Yan at this time also got all the information of the case as he wished.

Photos of the deceased's life and body, as well as the investigation results of the crime scene, are all on it.

While the vehicle was driving, Zhou Yan read eagerly...

At one o'clock in the afternoon, one vote arrived at the destination.

The car door was opened, Zhou Yan got out of the car...The noon sun was a bit dazzling, Zhou Yan squinted his eyes and felt the wind of the world.

Very warm.

Looking around...This is a not-so-wide street, a bit like the main street of the village before the rebirth. Although it is an asphalt road, it has been in disrepair for a long time and is full of cracks. And because of the sparse traffic, the surface is paved. A layer of dust.

In front of Zhou Yan, there are some low-rise shops. Just look at them. They are some years old, and most of them are closed. Only a few shops a little further away are still open. The sun was full at this time, but looking into the shops, it was very dim. Behind the counter near the door, a few very old shop assistants probed their heads, as if they were expecting some excitement to entertain.

Obviously, this street is a bit old. It is a typical example that was once prosperous, but gradually forgotten under the ever-changing city.

raised his head, over the low roof, you can see the tall modern buildings in the distance, even if separated so far, you can still see rows of bright glass, reflecting light above the height of nearly 100 meters.

This is the first time Zhou Yan has truly seen this world since his rebirth.
