Devil's Word Magic In Fairy Tail

Chapter 48 - Arthur Wulf VS Uchiha Madara (Part 1)

On the early morn' of February 8th, Arthur woke up feeling refreshed. He had slept well for a little over eight hours, ate breakfast and walked outside to Magnolia's South Gate Park.

Upon his arrival, he went up to the central tree in the middle of the park and waited for about a minute.

"So, you've decided to obey." A voice spoke.

"Well you didn't really give me much of a choice in the matter." Arthur replied, turning around to face the voice.

Appearing from seemingly nowhere, Ulquiorra walked towards Arthur together with a white creature that stood at nearly six feet in height, its body seemed to be covered by an exoskeleton and you could see neither eyes nor mouth on its head.

The creature's head looked more like a helmet than a head in fact.

"What's that thing?" Arthur asked.

"A Demon, it was created by Lord Zeref last month in order to combat Uchiha Madara." Ulquiorra explained with an ever monotone voice.

Arthur's expression turned into a frown.

"I thought you wanted Me to fight him?" Arthur asked in obvious confusion and irritation.

Having prepared himself so much, if it were all but wasted stress he'd feel quite cheated.

"That you will." Ulquiorra replied, stabbing the base of the Demon's throat with his hand. "This is your body double." He continued speaking as the White Demon's soulless carcass fell to the ground.

Arthur looked a little shocked at the event, asking. "Body double?"

"Yes, in order for the Gods watching over to not notice anything amiss with this battle, we had to take precautions. There is a limit to how much a simple illusion can mask after all." Ulquiorra said.

"So what's your plan for it then?" Arthur asked, getting an instant reply.

"The Gods believe that Uchiha Madara and Lord Zeref made the following deal, if one of Zeref's creations can combat him to a standstill, or defeat him, he would join our official team. That is the illusion they saw during our talk with Madara, while in reality the deal was for you to fight him. Afterwards the demon in question was created, taking your parameters and doubling them in case you got stronger over the next month." Ulquiorra explained with his monotone voice, not even sparing a glance to the demon he was talking about.

Arthur nodded to his words, thinking all the while. 'Double my parameters in case I got stronger within the month… So that thing was twice as strong as me when I met Ulquiorra the first time? This guy is seriously a monster in the truest sense of the word…'

"What they currently see, is this demon flying towards the direction of Madara. While in fact that is another one of our members who is in possession of one such jamming device." Ulquiorra said, taking out a small blue gem in the form of a sphere.

"So that's Zeref's God TV dampener, huh?" Arthur said, looking over the gem.

"Yes, and now it is yours." Ulquiorra said, handing him the gem. "The magic is automatic, so you needn't worry as long as it's on your person." He continued.

"So basically you want me to act out as this Demon in my fight?" Arthur asked.

"Yes. Depending on the results of the fight they will see a scene that ends up creating the same havoc, however the end result will be the same. If you lose the demon will die. If you win it will still die, keeping Madara the winner in their eyes. A draw still obviously ends with its death." Ulquiorra explained.

"What if one of us dies during the fight? What then?" Arthur asked.

"You won't." Was the reply he got, monotone and unexplained, but holding a certain degree of confidence.

"Okay then… If you say so…" Arthur replied, deciding it would be useless to argue further.

"Anyway… By doing this, no matter what damage your fight causes, they will have a plausible explanation as to why such an event transpired. If we simply hid the fact, they would learn from the other humans, if we let you two fight it out with them watching, albeit changing the outcome, it would still arise way too many questions. The most prevalent one being, why did this fight happen? How did you two schedule it? I assume you understand." Ulquiorra finished explaining.

"Yes, I understand. You guys really went all out with this conspiracy fight, huh?" Arthur commented.

"Lord Zeref is very serious about achieving his ambition after all, I simply follow orders." Ulquiorra replied.

"Of course he is… So, like you said before you'd be staying here with one of these gems making sure the Gods believe I'm staying back home?" Arthur asked.

"Yes, now take this corpse and go. Your destination is the third northern most peninsula of Iceberg, be there within the next two hours." Ulquiorra said, vanishing from Arthur's sight and leaving the demon's corpse behind.

"Well then… {Storage}." Arthur said, storing the creature in his magic storage, before teleporting himself to Bosco.

It was the closest teleportation point he had to Iceberg and also nearly halved his travel distance, from there he demonized himself and wore his combat gear and mask.

The flight over took him a little less than an hour, what was more difficult was finding the exact location.

With clairvoyance however it only took him an extra hour or so.

As Arthur had one of the jamming gems in his possession, his entire trip had been under the radar with no god being able to notice him ever moving from Magnolia.

Arthur arrived at the location of the fight, one where snow was all you'd see for miles on end, mountains climbing far above into the sky and a strong blizzard blowing with enough force to push a grown man to the ground.

Upon landing, he saw two silhouettes standing near one another.

'That's Madara… The other one must be the person Ulquiorra spoke about.' Arthur thought, standing about ten meters always from the two men as he eyed them both up and down.

The two who stood in front of him, were both seemingly his age, yet just as tall.

One of them was obviously Uchiha Madara, smirking as he looked to his soon to be opponent.

He had long spiky black hair, red sharingan eyes and stood a little shorter than Arthur himself, perhaps he was 160 cm tall. Madara wore his classic crimson armor which held numerous metal plates, forming protective guards around his c.h.e.s.t, waist, shoulders and t.h.i.g.hs. He also held his signature giant fan like weapon, the Gunbai, which he had no doubt recreated for his personal use in this new life of his.

The second man, was the now dead White Demon's body double who had started traveling towards here from earlier on. He was taller than both Arthur and Madara, perhaps 170 cm, held his hands behind his back and wore a black business suit, he also had short spiky platinum blond hair.

"Ah, you must be Arthur. You're just in time! I only now arrived myself." The mysterious man spoke, obviously referring to the illusions that would be seen by the 'viewers' with his comment.

"So you're my opponent." Madara said, scoffing in his direction. "Is that appearance supposed to intimidate me?" He asked, smiling towards Arthur.

Arthur's current appearance was that of a 165 cm tall man dressed completely in white with a pure white hollow mask, the only parts of him in a different color were his black horns going off his head as well as the black wings coming out from his back.

"…" Arthur stood silent, cautiously planning his first move for when the fight would begin.

(Arthur POV)

Whelp, Here I am.

Facing Uchiha Madara himself...

Although I can't really answer him as I've already muted myself prior to landing here…

Oops…?

"Quiet type, huh? No matter… So, why don't you go ahead and show me what Zeref's so called spriggans can do?" Madara said, lodging the Gunbai in the ground and crossing his arms in wait.

"I shall leave you two to it then… I hope you'll enjoy each other's company." The mysterious man said, disappearing within a shadow like portal he conjured to his side.

So that guy can teleport, huh…?

Well, I'll be sure to at least try and enjoy Madara's company, I guess...

My opening act had long since been set in motion, I simply had to start the fight.

Madara and I stood, facing one another within a mere distance of ten meters. Neither one of us moving in the slightest…

That was until Madara spoke.

"Do you honestly think I can't see that?" Madara said with an arrogant tone, conjuring a giant, wide pillar formed from a mass of trees by using his Wood Release to his left side.

Just as he did so, the concealed True Sun that I had sent out prior to my landing slammed right in to the now Tree, exploding with enough force to send both the snow and blizzard flying away from the direction my spell had been stopped in.

The wood vanished as well, but Madara was all right.

Well, aside from him not using hand seals, that was to be expected.

Good.

"{Ether Zone: Cruel Sun}" I spoke with a silenced voice, making sure Madara did not hear me.

At that command, the entire Ether Zone of now nearly fifty meters was filled to the brim with flaming suns, the snow melted in an instant.

"Hooh? Quality didn't work so you're using quantity is it?" Madara said, looking over each spell before raising two fingers, forming a single hand seal, but no others, as if out of habit.

The barrage of cruel suns raced towards the man in question, moving at a speed invisible to the n.a.k.e.d eye as Madara looked over to me with his calm demeanor.

"{Wood Style: Grand Forest Coffin}" Madara words rang, encasing him within a small sphere of wood within mere moments, it then began expanding over a diameter of fifteen meters while pushing the cruel suns near or next to it away.

Once the rest of the Cruel Suns arrived at their destination, they bashed into the walls like a barrage of cannon balls! Explosion after explosion sounded yet the coffin merely cracked and snapped a few times, showing no sign of breaking down.

"{Teleport}." My silent voice rang, and I appeared behind Madara.

"On to close combat ey, bring it on Spriggan! Haha!" Madara roared, turning towards me with his weapon in hand!

Being called a spriggan is weird… But whatever!

At the moment of my teleport, I had already transformed both my hands, having the abyssal black that had surrounded my skin previously enlarged into giant blades forming at the base of my wrists!

I slung both of my demonic arm blades towards Madara, who similarly attacked with his Gunbai. The exchange of blows that followed sent shockwaves throughout the insides of the wooden coffin, still being bombarded by cruel suns on the outside.

Madara could effortlessly block all of my blows, I really didn't have much to any real experience in close range combat, but because of my now boosted strength it was still enough for me to keep up with the legendary shinobi!

"{Gate}!" My voice rang once more, forming a decently sized opening on the outside of the wooden coffin.

All of my remaining cruel suns converged into that point, moving through the gate and straight into Madara's back!

I stepped out of the way, watching as Madara was flung across the inside and through the walls of his own Jutsu!

On the outside, each and every cruel sun bombarded him with intense heat and explosions, destroying his body that had been in fact a mere wooden clone!

Was it a clone since the beginning?

No, he must have changed when I lost sight of him inside the forest coffin…

"Try harder." Madara's voice rang from above me, as he slammed his Gunbai across my side like a he would a hammer.

The strike was strong enough to send me flying a good hundred meters through the now dry lands before I could balance myself back up, once I looked forward I saw the shinobi flying through the air towards me while placing one of his hands over his mouth!

"{Katon: Goukakyuu no Jutsu}!" Madara roared, stopping himself midair from the force of his own breath!

"So no hand seals are needed for you even when you use fire style, huh?" I spoke to myself, looking at Madara's ridiculous attack!

He breathed out a fire ball so big that it would put even Natsu's fire dragon roar to shame, as it covered my entire view and enclosed towards me!

"{Tsunami}!" I, knowing a basic amount of science, conjured a tidal wave big enough to block out the sun!

The two attacks hit each other head on, smashing into one another with an impact capable of shifting the terrain into a charred mud land, snow now disappearing entirely from the vicinity.

Even the blizzards had vanished from the location.

Madara flew towards me, gliding through the air as if it were all but natural, his Gunbai suddenly exploded into flames! They were so concentrated that the Gunbai itself was lost from vision, leaving only a flaming torch in the hands of Madara.

I similarly reformed my hands, forming them into black giant clawed hands as I flew towards my opponent in turn, encasing my abyssal claws in spiraling flames that I conjured.

We clashed in the air, yet again sending earth shattering shockwaves throughout the lands. Madara's flaming weapon burned into an inferno upon contacting my abyssal claws that did the same!

We both withstood each other's flames.

The aerial combat continued, as such. The two of us flying from one place to another, cracking the grounds and melting the snow and ice like two natural disasters meeting one another!

In the midst of all this, Madara summoning the earth from below to his side, as well as the remaining water on the terrain using them both to create giant spikes of stone and ice which flew towards me! I dodged across the air, looking to my opponent while thinking what else he might possibly be capable off.

"{Katon: Karyuu Endan}!" Madara roared once more, sending a giant fire dragon in appearance technique towards my way as all the spikes flew towards me still.

The flaming dragon was supported by a whirlwind that boosted its destructiveness further, accelerating it all the while!

"{Ether Zone: Rasenshuriken}!" I said, creating nearly twenty Rasenshurikens around me before sending them towards Madara's direction!

four destroyed his spikes, another ten stopped the flame dragon, while the last six aimed to strike my opponent!

"WHAT?! How do you-" Madara exclaimed, perhaps shocked to see my Rasenshuriken copy in this fight, however the spells in question quickly shut him up as he had no time to finish speaking.

Just as he was about to be hit, Madara activated his Mangekyō Sharingan and released a mini Susanoo around his body, protecting himself from each attack.

"How do you know that technique?! Who taught you?!" Madara yelled, prompting me to speak.

I removed my silence spell for but a moment, only to speak two words. "Uzumaki Naruto."

Madara's face twitched, showing a grim, rage induced expression as he stared at me.

"So that brat is here as well?! I knew those damn gods were not to be trusted! Where is he?!" Madara said as he hovered over the air with an imperfect mini Susanoo protecting his body.

He was obviously agitated.

And thus incapable of focusing completely.

"{Silence}" I whispered, returning to my previous muted self.

Using the opportunity, I casted the improved Rasenshuriken next.

"{Infernal Rasenshuriken}!" With that said, I summoned nearly ten such spells and flung them towards Madara.

The flaming rasenshurikens blitzed towards my opponent, surprising him even more so than before.

"Even that…?! Damn that fox child!" Madara cursed, expanding his Susanoo to an entire, giant upper body that wielded four swords with its four arms.

The swords slashed towards the Infernal Rasenshurikens, attempting to destroy them in the process, however I was able to make it so only six were destroyed in the end.

"{Multi Gate}!" Saying so, each remaining Infernal Rasenshuriken passed through a gate, each gate connected to the same on behind Madara's Susanoo's back.

"{Merge}!" I yelled, combining the four remaining Infernal Rasenshurikens into one huge spell!

The attack pushed Madara and his Susanoo straight into the mountainside, exploding on contact with enough force to create a mountain sized spiraling dome of blazing destruction!

"That probably won't do much considering the Susanoo's defense… Let's see then." I mumbled to myself, taking out a True Sun from one of my Storage rings.

Madara is very distracted at the moment, believing that Naruto was in this world sure did a number on his focus, forcing it onto another matter entirely.

Not long after the dome of fire disappeared, the Susanoo stood up with Madara glaring at me from its center.

He changed weapons, creating a bow and arrow before unleashing a barrage of arrows one after the other towards me whom was holding the True Sun.

"That spell is useless!" Madara yelled, no doubt thinking his Susanoo would protect him from a singular True Sun.

He was correct.

The rain of giant arrows poured on me as I moved around, balancing the now unleashed True Sun all the while getting closer to Madara.

Madara switched from bow to sword, once more weaving around the swords at impossible speeds prompting me to dodge with teleportation, I danced around the blades, losing an arm and a leg in the process which I had to heal.

Thanks to me removing my own sense of pain, I could shrug such damage off easily.

That dance of ours continued until I managed to find an opening, enough time, to appear at the base of the Susanoo and slam the True Sun into it.

Of course, by itself it didn't do much damage. But what if I unleashed another four from my remaining rings on my right hand at once?

The answer was a detonation that sent Madara's Susanoo high above the sky, it had even been cracked from the pin point focused attack of five True Suns!

I had taken the lead in the fight, putting Madara's mind away from fighting had been my goal with the Rasenshuriken and mentioning Naruto, enough to have him believe I could only use one True Sun at a time.

Logically thinking, he'd come to that conclusion by knowing that I 'wouldn't ' know about his sharingan and high perception.

He would think, if I can send invisible attacks then I'd send as many as I can from my strongest spell.

I, having thrown only one was in hopes of falsely deluding him into believing I could only use the spell once at a time, normally he'd probably take precautions just in case I could in fact do it numerous times but not in this instance!

To my knowledge, the only three weaknesses Madara has are his high pride, easy to distract nature and inability to focus on something properly!

Score!

Although, now he had regained that lost focus. Rinnegan activated and ready for use.

Madara flew over the sky above me, he wasn't exactly wounded but his pride had been damaged.

"I think playtime is just about over." He spoke, menacingly as the sky from above darkened.

"I'd like to see you deal with that." Madara said, seemingly returning to his previous calm demeanor as a meteor twice the size of the aforementioned mountain began falling from the sky!

The meteor fell slowly, parting the clouds with its sheer magnitude! Darkness descended upon this part of the peninsula as I looked on to it.

Madara smirked, his eyes glowing with a bright white light and the Rinnegan lines outlined within it. He extended his hand, forcing the aforementioned meteor to accelerate towards the ground at breakneck speeds!

I quickly cast acceleration on myself, flying upwards and towards my opponent's attack!

Upon unleashing the other five True Suns, I enlarged my right hand into the form of a spear!

"{Merge}!" Upon my words falling, the five true suns converged into my abyssal black spear, burning it to a crimson red color from the sheer heat alone!

I flew.

Flew faster and ever faster upwards, until I reached the Meteor with the tip of what was now my hand!

The meteor cracked, as I pierced through and beyond in a blaze of inferno. Flaming rocks fells from the sky, crashing down below and forming craters!

Having outshone the Meteor, in a show of power between the two of us, we now both stood hundreds of meters above the ground facing each other off once more, the glow in Madara's eyes having disappeared and returned to his previous normal Rinnegan eyes.

My right hand had begun melting from the overexertion and heat, a quick "{Heal}" fixed it completely though.

"Your regeneration is impressive, so is your fire power. To think this would get somewhat interesting…" Madara said arrogantly and with a near irritated voice, perhaps still mad over his own blunder in losing focus.

Although he also seemed to be pondering over something, not that I knew what.

It was here that our fight would truly begin, up above the sky where the clouds had parted for our arena.

I switched out my rings for new ones, preparing myself for the next confrontation.

If Madara's behavior is anything to get from, he's about to get serious now…

I still have a few cards to play…

I've got this!
