Disastrous New Age

Chapter 32 - Metal Plate

"Don't you guys think that Lucian is very lucky? Getting chosen by Instructor Smith to help with some machines." One of the students complained. "I mean, if I got chosen like that, you guys would probably complain about me too."

The surrounding students nodded.

It has been already three days and Lucian was still with Instructor Smith. He didn't need to train according to the training program. The only think he needed to focus this remaining week was to train his Dodge skill.

...

Swish!

Balls were so fast that they were cutting through the air.

"Damn! This is worse than the training plan."

Lucian could not help but curse at the situation he was in. All he was doing these days, was standing still and let balls hit him.

In addition, Instructor Smith even increased the shooting speed of the machine. There was almost no place to dodge and even if he wanted to dodge, it meant that there was less chance to increase his Dodge proficiency.

But there was something even worse happening. Lucian wasn't wearing a suit for this machine. Every single hit hurt him.

Although there were many balls that hit him, every time that his Dodge skill would activate, he felt a little bit satisfied. Of course there was a reason that he wasn't wearing a suit. Actually they were two.

Firstly, Instructor Smith would have to start the machine again every time that Lucian got hit by the ball. It would be really tiring and it would take a while to remove that function from the machine.

The last reason was that Instructor Smith wanted to try something. People could learn active and passive skills from doing different things.

For example, if a person swung a sword for so many times with a correct form, he would receive Slash skill.

When Lucian dodged a ball when he was tested, he received Dodge skill.

It was important to know that a person could receive both active and passive skills from doing something.

Instructor Smith's plan was to try to see if a person could receive different skill from games that people played in the past.

Don't misunderstand. People still play RPG's, shooting games... Gaming addiction never ends.

There was one skill, that he hoped that Lucian would get if there was a possibility. That skill could be very overpowered if trained to a high level.

It was Though Body or a similar skill. Who knew, what kind of name the System would give it. It would decrease the damage the user would take by some percent.

The problem was, how the System was actually developed. Does it allow people to create new skills? Or does it give skills to people from it's list of skills?

Nobody knew that yet and Instructor Smith was one of the very few people who wanted to try it out. One week was probably enough to show the results of that.

Now that he had a person who was a very strong fighter he could finally begin his tests. If he succeeded, he would publicize this and people could finally fight better and better.

However, there was one thing that he realized.

The more he was researching about the System, the more questions appeared after that. It was like an endless abyss of questions.

"Lucian, do you think we could get all the answers we want?"

Lucian turned his head towards Instructor Smith, not knowing why he would ask such a strange question. Looking at his gaze, he knew that he was really contemplating about everything.

"I do not know. However I think that there must be some answers at the highest floor of the portal." Although he had no idea if there was something at the top, he wanted to know how everything looked like on the top floor.

What secrets lay within the portal? Why did it appear? How do monsters appear anew every time?

Numerous people have asked themselves this however nobody can know for sure until one fights to the top floor.

Suddenly, Lucian screamed.

Instructor Smith quickly ran up to him. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Lucian was rolling on the ground, seemed to be hurt.

"Come on answer me, what is wrong?" Instructor Smith was becoming worried. What happened to make him like this?

Then after a few seconds Lucian spoke, "M-my family jewels got hit. It damn hurts!" He had never been hit in that place before.

'Whew! I thought it was something worse.' Instructor Smith secretly heaved a sigh of relief. It would be more troublesome if the ball hit his eye. That would be problematic.

If Lucian knew what Instructor Smith was thinking at this moment, he would probably beat him after the pain stopped. However right now, all he could do was to roll around and wait for it to stop hurting.

"Here have some painkillers. Those will probably help at this moment."

Instructor Smith handed over them and Lucian immediately took them. He was in so much pain right now.

'My dear family jewels! Can I will even be able to make kids like this?'

Lucian was honestly worried about himself right now. He decided that he would go and test his little friend if he even works correctly after all of this ends.

An hour has passed...

Lucian stood up, his body still a little bit stiff. For the last ten minutes he didn't even move at all and just lied down on the floor.

After all the pain subdued, Lucian calmly want into the storage area and put on himself a helped, protective glasses and a freaking groin protector.

Honestly, he didn't want to experience this pain again. He was all stacked up now and did not have to worry about any of the balls hitting his balls.

"I'm all ready now Instructor. Please turn on the machine again."

Now that Instructor Smith saw Lucian all equipped, he couldn't help but chuckle a little bit. Usually, people would give up if something like this happened to them.

"Okay. Nod when you are ready."

Lucian nodded and Instructor Smith pressed on the start button.

Swish!

Balls started being shot again.

Lucian knew that Dodge skill could only by activated by luck but he survived due to that luck. If he could get it to at least 1% chance, he would be satisfied.

...

"What do you think about that item?"

Zhang Ye shook his head. "I have no idea what to say about it. We have been keeping it a secret right? But I feel like we should tell others about it."

Meng Hao nodded. "If other guilds kill the second floor boss first, they will probably get something similar to this one. If we announce it now, it will probably make those other guilds announce it too in the future. We can only look forward instead of looking for ourselves only."

"You are right." Zhang Ye sighed. It seems, that they really had no other choice. He knew, that even though he was the leader of one of the top five guilds, it didn't mean that this guild will always come up first.

There will surely be times, where other guilds will become stronger than China Guild. Although he didn't want to believe it, he knew deep in his heart that it will happen.

"Okay. Announce it to the world right now. It is better if we do it faster, so we do not have to worry anymore after that." ordered Zhang Ye.

His secretary nodded. "I will start working on in immediately." He immediately left.

...

"There is worldwide announcement everyone! It's form China Guild come here and take a look quickly!" A student ran into the gymnasium.

In a few seconds the whole gymnasium was empty and every student was inside the forms looking at the television screen.

"There is something we need to tell everyone. The first time that we defeated the Goblin king, we received a special item from it. We had no idea if we should tell everyone, or just hide it but we have eventually decided to tell you."

Meng Hao then took out a metal plate from his Inventory and revealed it's name and description to everyone.

[Metal Plate 1st Floor

Special Type Item

Description: A mysterious plate found on every floor after killing the floor boss. It is only dropped on the first boss death and it cannot be multiplied. Has a word "This" written on it. Plates can then be put in order to reveal sentences which can reveal some information.]

People were shocked. Was there really something that can tell them everything?

The whole world went into an uproar. Something like this actually existed?!

Humans were curious creatures all along. They naturally wanted to know everything. When they were researching alone, the progress was very, very slow. But in this case, as long as someone reached top floor, that person could get to know some amazing things.

Those things would probably not even be able to be researched or found out in normal ways.

However there was a big risk in doing that. The highest floor reached is only the 2nd floor. Who knew how many floors were there in reality and how many people would die in exchange to reach that.

Lucian was really surprised when he saw the item. "Holy sh*t! Something like that was actually hidden by him all along."
