Divine Emperor of Death

2960 Venerable Warrior Attacks

Davis looked at Venerable Warrior Zermatt.

He was clad in a white robe and possessed a pale skin. His white hair swayed in the air freely, and combined with his celestial bearing of calm while exuding an indifferent gaze, his visage appeared profound and tranquil.

Furthermore, his skin had strange light emanating from it all over, as though he was a diamond. The sunlight shining on him seemed to be bent and refracted in his body, making him appear to embody the epitome of martial prowess and spiritual enlightenment.

"Another heaven's warrior with a unique physique. Do the heavens have claim over some physiques or something?" Davis looked unamused as his lips moved.

"Claim?" Venerable Warrior Zermatt's lips lifted into a condescending smile, "You're wrong. My Celestial Diamond Body Physique and the other physiques with a strand of heavenly power are bestowed by the heavens."

"What do you mean?"

Davis raised his brows, but Venerable Warrior Zermatt's expression suddenly turned contemplative.

"If I remember correctly, your little sister is a heaven's warrior. Isn't that right?"

"So what if she is?"

Davis's gaze became cold. Why was he bringing his little sister into this now?

"Why hasn't she killed you yet?"

Venerable Warrior Zermatt's voice sounded chilling, as though he was deeply offended. It caused Davis's solemn expression to turn amused.

"I see you're the type to kill your own sister because your grandfather hated her."

"Ridiculous." Venerable Warrior Zermatt raised his other hand, reaching it out towards Davis, "The heavens bestowed all beings with life, which means it also retains the right to take it away, including yours, which is merely an anomaly."

Davis stared at the other party. He wasn't offended for being an anomaly but was worried about his little sister with what he said.

If the Transcendent Truth Physique was indeed bestowed by the heavens and not Fallen Heaven, then-

'That means Fallen Heaven disrupts fate and leaves it blank, and the heavens fill it up or rectify it…? Is making Clara a heaven's warrior a part of its plan to get rid of me- no, prepare contingencies for the emptiness that was suddenly created in fate…?'

Davis felt like this line of thinking should be valid as he also thought the same. However-

'Well, this speculation could be true if what Zermatt is saying is true, but considering that he's a fanatic...'

He frowned, thinking how truthful the words of a fanatic could be. After all, even if it was false, fanatics would believe that it was real even after their death. Their blind faith knew no bounds.

"You haven't still answered my question yet."

Davis shook his head, wanting to know more.

"Why should I answer when you're going to die?"

"My botched tribulation didn't stop me. What makes you think you could?"

"Botched?" Venerable Warrior Zermatt's brows twitched, "The heavens are fair. Even for an Anarchic Divergent like you, it still doesn't break its heavenly rules. However, we humans are sinful creatures, and like sinful creatures, we shall seek redemption through the act of rectifying what its rules didn't allow it to do: command harmony."

"Well, considering you're shameless as the heavens, always trying to attack me at a higher cultivation base. I can't do anything about it, huh?"

"Arrogant! This is why we can never see eye to eye. If you knelt and begged for your life, we could at least leave it to your tribulation to end your pitiful life, but since you want to remain high and above, causing destruction all over the world, then don't blame me for being ruthless."

Venerable Warrior Zermatt's appeared incensed, raising his sword that shone excessively under the sunlight, practically almost blinding everyone as they couldn't see him. Its diamond surface shimmered with a lustrous luminescence, evoking the ethereal glow of what one would imagine to be from the heavens.

"It's your honor to die under my sword named Ethereal Solstice."

Grasping the hilt of the diamond sword, Venerable Warrior Zermatt brought down the blade. Enigmatic patterns of constellations and celestial symbols that were intricately etched along the length of the blade, appearing as if illuminated by the starry expanse, were brought to life.

Resplendent silver light emerged from those carvings as a silent wave of light energy fell in a vertical motion, cutting through air, space, and even time as it reached Davis.

For some reason, Davis had his head lowered, not even trying to defend himself.

*Shinggg!~*

The unwavering sword ray of light rushed past Davis, landing on the hundreds of buildings and rubble in a straight line.

The Starlight Jade Wolf Clan could only watch this scene in shock, unable to even make a move to activate some defenses to stop the attack from landing on the Emperor of Death. The light eventually receded, causing their expressions to change.

However, there was not even a hint of dust upon the dispersion of the light.

Anything in its path was disintegrated into nothingness, including the ground, as it created a hundred-meter depth trench- no, it was even deeper, apparently carving the city in two that underground waterways started pouring out and into the hole as they began filling up the trench.

"…!" But they were even more shocked at the silhouette of the Emperor of Death still standing even after taking that attack. However, they were inclined to believe that he did nothing as they saw another silhouette in front of him.

"Are you ignoring me, his protector?"

Venerable Warrior Zermatt also narrowed his eyes as he saw the pink-robed woman still floating on her dragon cloud in front of the Emperor of Death. Wrapped around them was a semi-transparent sphere made up of thorns that seemed to act like a barrier.

A mere Level One Immortal Emperor blocked his attack? Although she was in the same cultivation base as him, there were not many who would be able to match his prowess, but she was capable? It was unexpected as he never had her presence in his eyes, making him feel wary.

"His protector? Who are you?"

Venerable Warrior Zermatt's pupils dilated with killing intent, "What business do you have protecting an Anarchic Divergent?"

"Something the likes of you can never understand, so I won't bother talking about it."

Lereza smirked, returning the same condescending look he cast on her.

"Is that so? I can still spare your life if you drop this nonsense and leave. Otherwise-"

"Well," Davis suddenly spoke as he interrupted Venerable Warrior Zermatt, his head still lowered, "I would love to battle with you to the death while also trading blows to see if my physical body is capable of destroying your Celestial Diamond Body Physique but unfortunately-"

'-my cultivation base is extremely unstable...'

Davis imagined as he raised his head, a wry smile remaining on his lips as it moved, "- I have some cooking to do as I haven't eaten in a long while."

He licked his lips, silently cackling like an evil fiend, causing the Venerable Warrior Zermatt to look at him with disgust. Davis grinned before his gaze fell on the back of the pink-robed woman.

"Lereza, you don't need to kill him if it's too much for you but strike with the intent to kill. At least, it should make him want to retreat from here and stop bothering us."

He sent her a soul transmission. However, she remained tight-lipped as ever behind her pink veil, still having her gaze on Venerable Warrior Zermatt, although her vision didn't seem to be focused on him.
