Dream Life

Episode Five: The Heart of the Lion

After the negotiations with Byron, we were rolling out to the city.

With the arrival of merchants from the south, the boulevard is lively and calls for more shops.

The way a mercenary-dressed man and woman strolled down the street felt like fantasy, and I was walking around looking at the neighborhood.

"Seeing you say that makes me wonder if the mercenaries crossed paths earlier are wrong."

Liddy was talking to Guy, with a shudder.

"But earlier, the hoarding dropped. That's Master Zach. The man named Byron, the arm of the sword, above me, saw Lord Nicholas as strong enough to compete well with his opponents."

Guy's been talking to me with a happy face.

"With that said, when did you realize? He said I was hitting a play."

Guy said, "Right," after a little thought,

"... Is it from where they say they doubt Byron's ability"

I think it's time to snort, but I don't know why I noticed.

"How did you figure that out?

"Master Zach usually admits that those who are capable are those in any capacity. Like Rob the Hunters, doing something like trying Master Zach never made me angry. But this time, they didn't even try to persuade me, and they acted like they were selling fights. That's where I felt strange. I was wondering if there was any intention."

I admired Guy's observation.

(You look at it surprisingly well. It's a little too much to buy, but I think you might have liked this place and made a squire.)

I smelled a little lighter when I was bought.

"Sure, but I don't like guys who don't like me either. It just so happens that there wasn't a guy in Rasmore village who didn't like him"

Guy shook his neck to the side,

"But from the moment we met, didn't you acknowledge that man's abilities? I had blood on my head then, but Master Zach was calm. So I was wondering if you could think of any way to open it."

I shook my hand flickering and said, "Buy it. Not from the beginning," he replies with a laugh.

"True, you're funny. I just thought," Oh, no, no, no, no, no. "

When Liddy says so, Sharon, who is usually silent, also nods cocklessly, "I didn't know until the end," he said.

I got a little embarrassed and decided to change the subject.

"With that said, Norton and Byron called his uncle Lionheart, but what does that mean?

Guy answers the words happily.

"The name Lion Heart is a street name given to me by my predecessor, Lord Raswell Borderline. When my predecessors were in the Northern Governor's Office..."

In Guy's description, he once saved the life of a man of the Borderline uncle, now the Borderline uncle, when his grandfather was the northern governor of the Caerm Empire, a subordinate of Raswell Borderline uncle. A predecessor Borderline uncle, who heard of its activity, hooked it to the name Lockhart and gave it the street name Lion Heart = Lion Heart and the Lion's Seal as a family crest, he said.

Guy seemed happy to explain to me when I asked him a little more details. Here's an overview of that:

My grandfather, who was leading a platoon of northern governor's office troops, had been assigned to a squadron of borderline uncle's sons. From that time on, he was young but famous for his magnificence, and trusted that Uncle Borderline would be enough to keep the man.

A squadron led by a man was to go to battlefield with the Holy King of Lukes, but he was lost on the way and entered the Moenian Mountains within Lukes.

If I turned back immediately, there would have been no problem, but the captain of the squadron, Uncle Borderline's man, insisted hard on breaking through the mountain path, so I would go further into the back of the mountain.

Unfortunately, behind that mountain was a village of the most elite troops of Luke's Holy Kingdom, the Assassination Unit of the Beastman.

The grandfathers were guerrilla warriors against their Beastman troops in the mountains. The hundred soldiers of a squadron were almost destroyed, except for a platoon led by their grandfather, which was reduced to about fifty, including the injured. And the squadron went through a total annihilation crisis.

My grandfather leads his own platoon to launch a counter-attack to protect his predecessor, Uncle Borderline.

At that time, his grandfather's men had many brilliant men such as Walt, Nicholas and Hector, who focussed on them and fought dead with almost an equal number of thirty or so Beastmen troops.

My grandfather had also defeated several beastmen while wounded all over his body. After a full day of fighting, allies came to the rescue, but what they saw was the appearance of a bloody grandfather intimidating the Beasts on a battlefield scattered with the bodies of enemy allies.

The story was passed on to Borderline Uncle, who gave the passing name Lion Heart to a lion who could obey the beast with authority.

(The Mithril knife I got for my fifth birthday was given to me by the squadron leader. But you never heard of that...)

"But I've never heard anything like that from your uncle or your father?

"I didn't serve at that time either, so I'm not sure, but my predecessors, described to the knights, said they were harassed by the nobles every once in a while. He didn't seem to like the fact that the civilians even gave the street name to His Excellency Uncle Borderline. And because of that, I don't think this story was ever told at your mansion."

"Right. I don't know about the time I came to the village, but once I asked Govi why he pulled into the village. I didn't make myself clear then, but I only said I did my duty to my master. Looks like a lot's happened."

Liddy doesn't seem to know the details either.

A civilian boneless became a knight. And the boneless man doesn't know how to get along as a nobleman. I suppose the nobles refrained from harassing me, too, when I humbly told them to let me in, because of my grandfather's character, and they should not have done that.

He led the Walts to move to the free village of Rasmore on the occasion of the hiding of his predecessor Borderline Uncle. I guess the name of the lion heart that inspired it isn't a very good memory for my grandfathers.

(Speaking of lion hearts, it's like two names for a king. I guess a lot of people thought it was a waste to go up civilian......)

Talking about that, I was walking around the city, but dinner time was approaching, so I decided to go home to the inn.

I went back to the inn and tried to train as usual, but Guy tells me to rest today to avoid leaving me tired after tomorrow.

I'm not that tired of consciousness as far as I'm concerned, but I decided to listen to Guy, who's used to traveling, and I went back to my room.

I remembered the meal and asked Guy why he made it into a room meal.

"Speaking of which, I was supposed to eat in my room, was that good?"

"It was fine in the dining room, but there are many things in this city that know my face, so I thought it would be annoying for Master Zach and Lydia..."

Guy seemed concerned that he wouldn't like me or Liddy because when he was eating with himself, someone he knew would call out.

I don't think I care much, but I was grateful to Guy for thinking about Liddy.

As expected, room splitting was a combination of me and Guy, Liddy and Sharon.

I'm a little sorry, but I can't help it.

Another shame is that this inn doesn't have a bathroom. I wanted to soak up a bath to shed the fatigue of my journey, but this inn, or this city, said there was no such facility.

"I probably won't have a bath until I get to Periclitle. If you're going to wipe your body, I'll get you some water."

In Guy's words, it is recalled that the joint bathing area of the village of Rasmore was a valuable facility. When I asked for water,

"When I go away too, I often remember Master Zach's bath. I think it's really a village treasure."

When Guy went to the front desk for water, I was alone.

I fell asleep in bed and was thinking about the day.

(You had a lot going on in one day. My eyes still get hot when I think of the village...... but I was excited about my first city. Stranger lands, strangers, stranger cultures...... he said from tomorrow he will enter dangerous streets. I need to keep my mind tight, but my heart really starts pounding...)

I was more tired than I thought I was. Rather than his body being tired, his spirit seemed tired, and until Guy came back, he seemed to be asleep.

Surprised and awakened by the sound of a baton that opens the door.

(You can't. Sign detection is not helping...... I hope this city is safe but I need to keep my mind on it......)

Wipe your body with the water Guy brought you and have dinner somewhere a little refreshing.

Liddy and I will meet you in our room. Not as good as the mansion meal, but the flavor is better than I thought, and I will slowly taste the meal.

The hustle and bustle of the tavern can be heard slightly from the open wooden windows.

(With that said, it's been a long time since you've had this vibe. Ever since I was in Japan... you really were in the country, my village...)

After chatting with Liddy and the others, it's still early, but I decided to go to bed.

When I fell asleep in bed, I was immediately attacked by a sleeper and fell asleep.

The next morning I wake up neatly with the dawn and I leave the room quietly to keep Guy asleep beside me awake.

I headed to the back yard of the inn to do my morning workouts as usual.

The innkeepers had already begun to prepare breakfast.

I wash my face lightly in the well while trying not to get in the way of my employees and then start waving the brand new bastard sword that Beltram hit me with.

I wasn't familiar with this sword. It is heavier than the previous wooden sword because it has been made considerably larger and my body fluttered every time I shook it.

(Better make a bare break, too. This won't work in action at all. Maybe you saw this brand new sword and said Byron was on his feet, too. If so, you can't be wrong...)

After enough, Guy also came to the backyard to move his body.

The Lockhart family (of which) squires are indispensable for training under any circumstances. Even Nicholas, the home affairs officer, attended vigilante training every few days, in addition to morning and evening workouts.

Naturally, Guy doesn't lack training either. He had been hard trained to be recognized by his grandfather because he had become an obedient with a heart attack.

Finish the greeting and the two of us will pretend barely. Sometimes, with Guy pointing it out, I keep barebacking for about thirty minutes. Sharon rendezvous along the way and begins to shake his skinny short sword.

As I concentrated on my bare hands, my sweat splashed and my breath rose, but I was starting to feel like the day wouldn't start if I didn't do this.

(I've been doing this since I was four years old. It's been six years...)

Finishing my bareback, I wash my face, sweat in the cold water of the well, and go back to my room.

By then, Liddy had also woken up, greeting her with a carefree look.
