Dream Life

Lesson 30: Requests

September 23rd.

I was thinking about what to do in the future.

I don't know how much the guy who's trying to kick us out cares about us. Normally, I don't think I'd pay that much attention.

But in case you think about something like watching over us, you shouldn't show your face to the college for the time being. I'm going to the library, but I'm not going to the college, especially the classroom.

This way, they'll think we stopped going to college bitterly for bullying.

At the time they've been bullying us, they should naturally assume that too.

It would be normal for a child, only ten years old, who is also out of the country, to think that if he were bullied by all his classes, starting with teachers, he would not be able to go to college in shock. I mean, if you do what they assume, you're mistaken that things are going well, and you won't have any more hands on us. If you do, we can get freedom of movement, and we can reduce the burden on Sharon's heart, a normal child.

Future course of action, but first, analyze the information gathered and poke out the thoughts of those who are about to kick it out. And when I'm completely free to move, I'm going to hit my most effective hand to keep us from getting our hands on it again. However, the important thing here is to refrain from actions left to anger and not to make useless enemies.

So, the first step, the analysis of the information, but from the information I've studied on my own so far, I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't just bullying, it's part of a big conspiracy.

Too little information to turn that reasoning into certainty. I decided to go to the Adventurers Guild in order to make a request to an adventurer specializing in gathering information taught by Professor Kittry Erbain of the Tilia School of Magic.

It's me and Liddy that's going. Sharon also wanted to follow him, but he thinks he might get tangled up by some of their bad adventurers in the guild, making him go to the library.

The Adventurer Guild of Doctus was on the western side of the new town and was a fairly large building with three wooden floors.

Inside, but just after 2 p.m., he was idle in the guild. Only a few adventurers seemed free in the meeting space to tunnel in.

Liddy wears the hood of his cape deep and keeps his face out of the sun, just like when he comes to sell his demonic crystal stone. I wore the hood the same way, so that I couldn't pretend to be a child.

Sitting at the reception counter, a receptionist in her early twenties looked at us suspiciously. But I said, "Would you like to talk about a request?," the receptionist immediately floated a sales smile,

"I can help you. I'm in charge of reception, my name is Tina."

"It's called Zacharias Lockhart."

Finished my greeting and I got right to the point.

"Then the request will be for nomination…"

Explain the request to Tina at the reception.

"... If you want to ask me, I'm Cy Furman, a quaternary adventurer. As I've just told you, I'll explain when you get the details."

Explain in about five minutes and have the request accepted.

Tina seems to have some acquaintance with the rhino,

"Mr. Sai comes to the guild every morning around 8: 00 to confirm the request. I'll talk to you then, so I think I'll ask you tomorrow morning."

We thanked Tina and left the guild behind.

morning of September 24th.

Quaternary adventurer Cy Furman has visited our house.

He is a shallow, black-faced man in his mid-thirties who, when walking, pulls his legs slightly apart. Mr. Kitley - an old friend of Liddy's, Professor Kitley Erbain - said the battle caused his leg to get worse, so he became a specialist in gathering information in the city.

He asked me for details of what I wanted him to look into with a smile he liked.

"Zacharias Lockhart told me to ask for more information. So, what kind of information do you want to collect?

"What I want you to gather is information about Councilman Wargman. Become one of the senators, policies, creeds and connections. What matters is who his political enemies are. Hopefully, you'll want results from multiple sources."

He nods at my words, "Multiple sources? What's that supposed to mean? I've heard."

"It means those who support him and those who do not. If possible, I wish I had total third-party information, because it can be monetary. No problem if you do what you can."

"Expect one gold coin (hundred C (krona) = 100,000 yen). Besides, I'd like you to meet Professor Erbain. I'll gather whatever information I can."

He said that with a smile on his face and has offered his right hand.

I took his hand, holding it tight,

"The deadline is October 4, ten days later. What is your progress on September 29th in five days? On top of that, I might look into it and add the information I want. And of course, in that case, as it is in the contract, we are going to offer additional rewards."

On my way home, there was nothing particularly surprising about me speaking in a grown-up tone, so I asked him about it.

"I'm hearing it from Professor Erbain. And that (...) professor Raspade says he's one genius a thousand years. Whatever happens, you don't deserve surprise."

I'm just living with information gathering, and I seem to be researching information about customers (clients) in advance.

Rhinoceros left the city to gather information immediately.

We had decided to head to the woods because the weather was nice.

I'm going to the woods because the weather is nice today, but for the time being, I'm not going to the college. And I don't even get into the old town as much as I can.

I tried to just stay away from the college yesterday, because over time, I reconsidered trying to make it look like I couldn't stand bullying. And at the stage of receiving the information from the rhinos, I'm thinking of going to ask Bennett Teaching - as seat student, Alic Bennett - about the procedure for leaving the college.

This doesn't just keep us safe, it also hopes that another piece of information will hook up with the information-gathering we asked rhinos to do. I mean, if they assume they're going as they think they are, they're hoping they'll take some action.

We went to the woods every day for four days after that. Sometimes, I explore the signs, but I didn't feel any signs of surveillance of our house.

It has nothing to do with this gathering of information, but having been in the woods for four days, Sharon's wind attribute magic level rose to nineteen. My guy - the squire Guy Jakes, Sharon's father - has been gone, often turning to the avant-garde, and the level of the sorcerer has risen to nineteen. It should be noted that swordsmanship skill levels have not increased and remain twenty-five, but avoidance skills have risen well to twenty-nine. As for the plan to go into the woods and gain experience, it's working as well as I thought.

But there was only one concern.

That means I'm the only avant-garde.

Me, Liddy, Sharon's magical ranged attacks are pretty powerful. I am proud to say that it is outstanding among the young adventurer parties that make the near field a territory.

Still, encountering durable demons, especially large gray bears, etc. is quite a struggle.

It shreds strength from a distance with a hit-and-away, but it's hard to fatally injure whether it's incompatible with Liddy or Sharon's wind attribute magic. I challenge the melee, seal the bear's movements, and the two unleash magic, but Sharon was pushed to the point where he was about to run out of magic.

Raising sword arms in the avant-garde is one of the aims, but in the current party configuration, I am concerned that we may not be able to move on from the woods near the city. So far, there's nothing wrong with it because it's leveling up well, but in time, it could be a blow to the head with the demons here.

Soon, the day will come when you will be forced to choose between increasing the number of party members or making me an expert in melee warfare.

The morning of September 29th.

The rhino who asked me to gather information carried the information and came to the house.

"For once, I kept as much information as I could gather in the old town. You need to come into contact with the upper level of the Alliance any longer."

Yes, he began to talk about the information he had gathered.

"First of all, I will be one of the Wargman senators, but the reputation of the alley Chiya is most common: a politician who is clean and keen on reform. Especially in the Old Town. Expectations for educational reform seem high..."

Rep. Worgman was a young Hope, and through the reform of the College, many thought he was the person to reform the guild's old-fashioned system, which meant that many of the residents of the Old Town were counting on him.

"... is an ostensible reputation, but that Mitsuhito doesn't seem to be such a noble person either. I wouldn't go as far as black, but there were rumors that it wasn't very good..."

Rep. Worgman is the chairman of a committee that oversees the college called the Board of Education and Research, and rumors are circulating that through the reform of the college, he intends to give positions to people in his faction. Furthermore, it was also said that it was related to the supplier of the college's equipment and was receiving a rebate.

"Well, that's what every councilman does. It was worse, especially when Speaker Seberg was chairman of the HR committee. You're pushing the people you breathed into the academy with nothing to do with their ability. The current Dean of the Academy and so on. Senator Worgman would fall into a decent category among the city's politicians."

When I snort, we talk about the next piece of information.

"Policies and creeds are just as I said. As far as your political enemies are concerned, none of the councillors are in clear conflict with him right now. Of course, some senators are hostile just because they haven't made it clear..."

Senators Forsyth and Ibbetson are arguably the enemies of Senator Worgman.

Rep. Forsyth is the next candidate for Speaker alongside Rep. Worgman, who is a finance field politician and opposed to Rep. Worgman's reform of the College. This is the apparent reason why the enrichment of research institutes and the establishment of specialized educational institutions for teachers will oppress Doctus' finances. But for Rep. Forsyth, who has lived in the mainstream of maintenance, it seems to be the alley's opinion that Rep. Worgman, who aspires to radical reform, is an obstacle.

And another political opponent, Senator Ibbetson, but he's chairing the HR committee. The current Speaker, Speaker Seberg, is the same human resources field, and rumor has it that the Speaker wants to nominate Rep. Ibbetson as his successor.

They're trying to get rid of their biggest rival, Senator Wargman, because the election of the chairman is due to the votes of eight councillors and three advisors - the chairman experienced.

"… and there is another enemy figure," Rhino said in a slightly disoriented manner.

"Senator Worgman's college companion, Counselor Isherwood, who was supposed to be an ally."

I didn't say anything of particular surprise or doubt because I thought it was possible somehow. The rhino, aimed at dramatic effects, did not follow his aim and looked a little unfortunate, but immediately squeezed his expression and continued the conversation.

"You expected that face. Fine. You know Counselor Isherwood graduated in the next seat?

When I snort, I keep talking.

"He said the difference between Senator Worgman and Councillor Isherwood wasn't that big of a thing. To be perfectly clear, it's no exaggeration to say that a certain person's rating has given him advantages or disadvantages."

I think of the face of a certain person, and I say, "Are you Professor Raspade?" I ask.

Rhinoceros gave a slightly surprising look and gave a frightened look, "You're a man of no surprise and merit,"

"Exactly. Professor Raspade doesn't even put his teeth on such things as his grades in seating just relying on memory. His superiority and inferiority are based on whether he can think creatively or activate magic with a stronger image. In other words, although Councillor Isherwood outperformed Senator Worgman in his grades, he didn't get a good rating from Professor Raspade, who had a huge impact on his final grade."

"So you're saying that Counselor Isherwood was better with his grades in seating and simple practical skills?

"That's what I'm saying. Well, it was only at graduation that Senator Worgman was inferior in practice to Councillor Isherwood, but he said he gained strength with mechanics after becoming a court magician in Sartooth. Ten years later, when I left Sartooth, I was raising my level to thirty-five. Few court magicians have increased their level by nearly twenty in just a decade. So Professor Raspade wasn't wrong."

They say there are two types of court magicians to be seconded by the Alliance.

The first is someone who is sent to see the outside world for about ten years after graduation from college. I can tell you that these people are so-called elites, sent to learn diplomacy and to make connections.

The other is a court magician in its original sense.

Serve the royal family, educate the royal children in ordinary times, and use magic to fight enemies in times of need. Though this type of court magician is recommended by the guild, he often serves the royal family in his hometown and has pledged allegiance to the royal family over the guild. For this reason, they say many participate in active combat and try to level up.

In other words, it can be said that Senator Worgman, while the former, encouraged him to level up and to level up faster than a normal sorcerer.

"At the time of graduation, Counselor Isherwood didn't seem to be convinced by the seat either, but they say he met with Senator Worgman back from Sartooth, changed his attitude and became allied with the senator. Of course, this would be a rumor circulated by the councillor himself"

"I mean, he still says Counselor Isherwood isn't convinced of his seat at graduation. And thinking about pulling Senator Worgman's leg."

rhinos laughed niggardly at my words,

"That's a shame. I mean, from here on in, my guess goes in, so I don't know if it's true. If that's okay with you, I'll let you hear it."

I felt the analysis of a person named Cy was accurate, so I urged him to go ahead.

"Counselor Isherwood has emerged at a considerably faster pace than regular officials. Of course, it's not noticeable because there's Senator Worgman out there at a pace beyond that. It's like he's using Senator Worgman well. And Senator Worgman also uses Councillor Isherwood..."

Councillor Isherwood reconciled with Senator Worgman and began to support his policy. The Counsellor was originally on the HR Committee and was familiar with faction mechanics and information about human resources. For this reason, Senator Worgman contemplated using his abilities. He forced Counsellor Isherwood to eliminate anyone who might be an obstacle to achieving his policy.

"... The story I heard seems to have ruled out an unsatisfactory number of people with fingers on both hands. As a result, Senator Worgman had an unusual birth and was able to appear on the council at the youngest. And Counsellor Isherwood also emerged in the form of being fished by it..."

In other words, it was Cy's analysis that they were in a relationship to use.

"... and Councillor Isherwood's next target is the councillor's chair. It's not necessarily when Senator Worgman retires, or when he becomes Speaker. Perhaps there is an implicit understanding of the relationship we use between the two of us. Besides, I don't think Councillor Isherwood will inherit Senator Worgman's policy. When that happens, the Counsellor thinks..."

He cuts words there, talks and moistens a little throat with water.

"... if Councillor Isherwood were to target the councilman's chair, it would be another councilman's chair. Normally, I would nominate a successor to my faction, but if I could be in the chair, I'd change my mind... for example, Senator Ibbetson might think so."

Cy's analysis suggests Counselor Isherwood is trying to be Senator Ibbetson's successor, using Senator Worgman's leg loss as bait.

(From what I'm telling you, it was Isherwood who set us up. It's certainly easy to get in touch with Bennett because his daughter, Anita, is in the same class. Of course, you can lead the prank. Besides, I am familiar with the internal affairs of the Worgman family...)

I was wondering if I could judge by this information alone.

(I certainly don't see any mistakes in Mr. Sai's logic. But is that really true? If the prerequisite information is wrong in the first place, the conclusion will be different whether the logic is correct or not. Rumors of residents of the Old Town and junior Alliance officials are not necessarily correct. If there were more than one faction, there would be all sorts of rumors flying around. The only information we have this time is the story of people who can only come into contact with some of those many rumors. Don't feel like judging by that)

"I will pay extra, so please collect the information a little differently"

He said, "What exactly do I do?," he asked with a smile.

"I'm going to ask you how to drop out of Bennett Teaching, who is now in charge. Perhaps he's trying to frame us by someone telling him, so he'll go report to that mastermind or his liaison. I want you to find out where he's going and who he's meeting..."

Here's what I think.

If I show Bennett my will to leave school, he'll be happy to report it. Of course, it's hard to believe that the mastermind gave him direct instructions, but at least he should report it to the liaison officer. Find out who it is and follow its trail further. I wondered if that would get us to the mastermind.

"Sure that's possible, but is it true that a teacher named Bennett is chewing on this matter? If that premise collapses, there's no point in investigating it?

Though the rhinos have shown their understanding of my reasoning, they have conveyed the risk of keeping the premise of the investigation to it.

"I don't mind. If Teaching Bennett is more foolish than I think, then in the first place, this investigation doesn't make sense in itself."

I started thinking about this because Bennett's attitude was abnormal. There is just the possibility of being a fool, but then there is a way to deal with it. It's not a hobby to use people's power, but if Professor Raspade helps us, we'll be able to fly right away, such as the neck of a teacher being seconded by the guild.

"What should I do about the reward? You can stick around or tail him, but you're going to hold on to time?

rhinoceros shakes his neck to the side small, grinning and answering

"Sometimes this kind of work would be good. Right, how about a half gold coin (50C (krona) = about 50,000 yen)?

There's nothing different about me, so I nodded at it, said, "Well, thank you," and shook my hand with the meaning of mutual approval.
