Lesson 44: Professor Raspade's Class

October 6th.

The day after Senator Worgman asked me about the ending to the bullying of us.

Under the sunny autumn sky, Sharon and I haven't been in class in almost half a month.

On a sunny day, and with us there in the morning, our classmates kept us afield and watched us steal from each other.

As Quentin Worgman walked into the classroom, tension ran to his classmates. Looks like Quentin and I got into a collision.

But when Quentin saw us, he greeted us with a smile, "Good morning, Mr. Lockhart, Miss Jakes," and we also said, "Good morning, Mr. Worgman," as if nothing had happened.

At that moment, the classroom air strained for a moment, and then relaxed to exhale. Among other things, Anita Isherwood felt her eyes were incredible, her eyes wide open.

"From today onwards there will be just a few changes in seating classes. Mr. Lockhart and Ms. Jakes are now taking the lecture of Dr. Raspade. Anyone can wish to take Dr. Raspade's lectures, but only students who have been recognized by Dr. Raspade. Please contact me later if you wish."

And Bennett looked at me and said, "You guys go to Dr. Raspade's lab. Do you know where it is? I've said." The researcher's building has visited more than this classroom, so he said, "Yes, I know," and left the classroom with Sharon.

Professor Lionel Raspade's lab was in the back of a school building for researchers. It was near the lab of Liddy's old friend, Mr. Kitley - Professor Kitley Erbain - and we arrived at Professor Raspade's lab without getting lost.

Knock on the door in front of the professor's room, but no response. I thought you were away, but when I hung my hand on the door knob and pulled, the key wasn't hung, and the light of the lighted demon prop leaked from inside.

Because of signs of people, I rang out horribly, "It's a lockhart..." But I never got a response, so I had no choice but to open the door and peek inside.

Inside, Professor Raspade, buried in a pile of books, writes desperately about something. Though I thought it was bad to interrupt, I couldn't go home like this, "Excuse me," he went inside.

(I guess you're obsessed with research and you can't hear me. Wait till the teacher takes a breath...)

I told Sharon to "wait here until the teacher noticed" and took out the chair that was near the pile of books and decided to sit down and wait.

Professor Raspade kept writing even without ever raising his face for about thirty minutes after that.

And then you suddenly get up because you're out of paper for notes. And then he noticed us sitting near the entrance.

"Isn't it Mr. Lockhart and Miss Jakes? Well, the dean told me. I need your guidance from today."

And they asked me how long I waited, so I said about thirty minutes,

"You did something wrong. When I'm obsessed with research, I don't care about anything else. Don't hesitate to call me from now on."

The professor said, "Will you wait another half an hour? If you're free, you can read the book there, or you can go outside till the hour," he said, turning to his desk again.

I looked at Sharon and suggested to her, "If it's about thirty minutes, let me see the book". She nodded at it, too, and began to pinpoint nearby books.

It was quite advanced in content because it is just a book in a room of leading researchers. The book on magic formations and magic props in particular seemed to reflect the latest research findings - the thesis always contained the name of the professor - and was the cover of a brand new bright-colored parchment.

I picked out something that seemed relatively easy and scrolled through the pages with paralysis.

I didn't tell you, but the paper in this world ranges from low-quality papyrus to fine-handed objects like the finest paper on Earth.

I started reading a book called "Magic Formation Overview - From Fundamentals to Applied Cases".

Looks like Sharon decided to read a book titled Developments in Demonic Props.

The books I've read mainly in the library so far had many bad attributes, books about darkness and gold, but I started reading magic books and was immediately inspired by curiosity.

Because I realized that magic is a kind of system.

It felt like an electrical circuit because it used a circuit called Magic Formation to convert and amplify the magic that was the input signal and cause the necessary events.

The magic formation depicts a diagram corresponding to the power of each Spirit. It is then represented by symbols such as diagrams and rune letters that in what order the power of which Spirit is to be acted upon and further converted into what form of force.

That way of drawing is precisely the design of the system, and my former designer, I learned a strong interest in the magic team.

There are two ways of using the magic team, roughly divided.

One is to allow magic to be used even without magical qualities. The other is an auxiliary use for efficient use of powerful magic.

The first is used as a magic prop. Of course, the magic formation alone will not activate, and we will need the Demonic Crystal Stone to turn magic into the power of the Spirit. It is no exaggeration to say that the combination of the Demonic Crystal Stone and the Magic Formation is a magic prop.

The second use is not well known to the public.

They use it in a western religious state called Luke's Holy Kingdom, but it was said that several magicians use magic formations to paint magic formations on the cathedral floor to perform a massive miracle - which in the book is determined to be a big deal of light attribute magic.

Now it looks like lost technology, but they were able to use magic formations to carry out large-scale attack magic, such as that used for siege warfare, as well as transfer magic, etc.

This one word made Sharon nervous. Speaking of which, even though I had read with you until the other day, I realized that I was calling you Mr. Lockhart today, and I asked the professor why, including what it meant to relieve Sharon of his tension.

I was amazed at the fact that this professor Raspade cares about that. Because I thought this guy would call you whatever he wanted, regardless of that.

This conversation also seemed to break Sharon's tension a little, and the professor started asking Sharon a lot of questions.

"Shall we then go from the simple question," the professor said, and began the question.

"Can you tell me everything you need to activate the magic? Including why."

Sharon nodded and began to answer in a slow tone.

"First, we need the magic of an operator. Magic is what we give to the Spirit, so without this, the Spirit will not help us. Next is the magical image. I think this is the most important thing. The reason is that if the Spirit fails to understand it, even if there is a lot of magic, the magic will not activate. Next is the spell, but I don't think this is so important. I think it just strengthens the second image..."

Professor Raspade nods at Sharon's answers and occasionally turns to questions.

"The second image I mentioned, how do you reinforce your image?"

Sharon, after a little thought,

"I don't know, but I imagine magically waking it up to resemble something. For example, in the air hammer (air hammer), I wonder if this will happen when it enters a narrow place, thinking of the breeze that often blows in the winter in the village. The professor looked at me and wondered, "Did you know that when you were five?"

I answered that in a somewhat excuse-stained way.

After the professor nodded, he asked more questions about the spell and magic activation efficiency and the relationship between the magnitude of the magic and the necessary magic power.

Sharon remembered exactly what she had learned from Liddy and answered thrashly to it.

I was impressed with Sharon's memory as I saw the sight.

(I remember much better than I do. Sharon is a genius after all)

The professor, who kept asking questions enough, nodded satisfactorily,

"After all, you don't have to be in college. You can graduate well enough with your knowledge. I'm a teacher named Dupree, but I think I remember it somehow."

"About forty years ago, I'm an elf woman who graduated from this college in chief. It has four attributes, so maybe you remember it."

The professor hit Pong in the hand with those words and said, "I remember. She was a girl with four attributes and good at wind attributes," she was convinced by herself.

I was amazed at Professor Raspade's memory. There are nearly two hundred graduates each year, and it was even more thirty-seven years before Liddy graduated. There should have been more than seven thousand graduates in the meantime, so I was impressed to be able to remember one of them.

(I didn't like to remember people's faces. As much as I'd asked a friend who remembered a good name to go to a reunion. But being in this college for over a hundred years means you've met nearly 20,000 students. That's what I can remember so well...)

I told that story to Mr. Kitley later, and he was devastated and said, "The only person Dr. Raspade remembers is a good man. Perhaps you won't even remember this year's graduates," he said.

Did the professor convince Sharon of his knowledge or began his lecture?

When I say lecture, it's like a question that answers our questions.

I've always wondered, and there's something I don't know, and I asked the professor.

"I've always wondered, what the hell is the power of the Spirit? Even if I read the book, it says a lot about the embodying of the power of attributes God and the special substances that make up the world, I'm not convinced."

The professor gave me a slightly bewildered look as to whether my question was unexpected or not, and said, "You care about things that have changed. Mm-hmm. With that said, I feel like I've been curious about it a long time, too," he said a little faraway.

And he replied, "I just wanted to give you an answer, but I haven't figured out what the power of the Spirit is yet," he said.

I was disappointed because I thought the professor would know.

The power of the Spirit is the root of magic. And it's something that Earth didn't have, and I think that's the biggest difference between Earth and this world.

He thinks that if he finds out what the power of the Spirit is, he can considerably bottom-up the magical power of the present.

My massive image of magic is the transformation of this world-specific energy into a form known to the operator. Once we know the form of that enormous amount of energy, we should be able to convert it more efficiently.

What you're trying to say is that the image of the conversion changes depending on whether the pre-conversion energy is thermal, positional, or electrical. I see it as electrical energy and use magic, but if that's thermal energy, it could be inefficient.

To give you an example, when using fire attribute magic, I think it would be more efficient to change thermal energy directly to the desired form rather than once converting it to electrical energy and then removing heat from it.

So I wanted to know what the power of the Spirit was.

When I was discouraged, the professor gave me an image of my hypothesis.

"I can't say anything because I haven't done that research, but I can let you hear it if you want in my image"

When I snort,

"My image is what shapes the world. The earth, the sky, and all men, are made of the power of the Spirit. It may be close to the theory of matter, but I'm wondering if it's more about power itself than matter..."

"Is it power... that man, earth, and demons are made of the power of the Spirit"

"Exactly. Have you ever made water with water attributes magic? [M] You can magically produce water, which is a substance. Likewise, light attributes magic causes a phenomenon called light, light, which is not matter. In other words, it is my view that the power of the Spirit is the very power that produces phenomena and matter. Thinking of it as a substance, it is difficult to explain that it can be removed from the absence of anything. It seems to give some reason, but I think it's more natural to think of it as a power that can be converted into anything. To that proof, light cannot be materialized by the power of the Spirit. Light can only be converted into a phenomenon..."

I've kind of figured out what the professor wants to say.

I guess what the professor means by "power” is “energy”. Thinking about it, it's easy for me to understand. Because it's the same image I have of a lot of magic.

"In other words, the teacher says the power of the Spirit is a power with its own properties. The power of the Spirit of Light is the properties of Light, but the power of the Spirit of Water is the power with the properties of Water."

The professor nods loudly and says, "That's exactly what I think," adding further explanation.

"The idea of embodying the power of the gods is not wrong. But I prayed to God, and the magic doesn't work. I don't care what the fanatics of Light God say. If you want to use the magic of light attributes, it is better to have the image you want to embody clearly and efficiently take out the power of the Spirit of Light than to pray to the God of Light (Lucidus). Their magic does the same thing, but they never admit it."

"So does it mean that magic is activated without mentioning the names of the gods in the spell?

"Of course," the professor nodded loudly, "then let's put it into practice and show it to them".

The professor said, "Spirit of Light. Give me the light. Lights." He cast a very simple spell, creating a small light in his hand.

"You don't have to speak God's name like this to activate magic. Extreme stories, magic activates without the chant of a spell, but this is inefficient because it's quite imaginative."

And after turning off the magic lights,

"In fact, you should know that. When you light a magic item, you will call it the name of the God of Light."

I did think you were right.

Demonic props are tools that activate magic and do not require spells to use them. What's more, the task of being magical doesn't even require concentration.

The professor smiled and said, "Of course, I don't always think I'm right".

"As yet, no one has proven it, so neither the theory of matter nor the power of the gods may be a mistake. You don't have to decide this kind of thing."

Asking questions like this with the professor seemed like an intellectual catchball to me and was a lot of fun.
