Dungeons for the Devil, Dungeons for the Core

Chapter V. Dungeons 4 - 3. The Labyrinth Without Return (Part 3)

The three Marias were completely lost. In the three of us who lack the power of the main battle and the role of the Wall, we don't know how far we can go to fight monsters. Fortunately, there were no monster raids other than the occasional Cavebat attack, but Maria's mental fatigue, which can constantly strengthen (and) tension as almost the only force of war, was enormous.

"Shit! It's Cave Bat again!

"You can't use big magic in a narrow aisle! Attract!"

'Oh, don't let this sorcerer make a serious decision. One at a time with a water needle, or you're solid.'

'Sounds like you're not that sorry about the group. Oh, while I was dodging, the recoverer fell. Looks like you screwed up your leg...... won't you recover?

"Flynn! Did you hurt your leg?

"It's okay, it's not a big injury. You don't have to waste your heels at this point."

"I appreciate you keeping your magic warm, but don't push it. We can't talk about recovery."

"I don't know what lies ahead, and I don't want to waste my magic. It's okay, I'll heel you as soon as it gets worse."

"Dark, narrow, bad scaffolding, besides cave bats attacking me. That sucks."

"Don't be stupid. We're moving on. Flynn, follow me at an impossible pace."

"I went out into a bit of a big place... but it wasn't the square just now, was it?

"It's not a shithole, and it sounds like another place. It's the same with several aisles open around... is that the specification of this dungeon?

"Maria and Flynn stay by the way they came. Don't go into the square by mistake. I'm just gonna scout a little bit."

"Wait! It's dangerous on its own!

"What are you saying to your scoundrel? It's okay, I wouldn't choose a passage like that if I did. I'm gonna explore that, uh, promising, straight aisle over there."

If I hadn't been tired, if I had a little more decent judgment left, if I had the looseness to work my imagination a little more, I might have felt uncomfortable on a straight stretching aisle unlike before, on a flat floor without a bump. But Gil wasn't loose enough to feel it right now.

About fifteen minutes later, the ceiling in the aisle fell. The entire ceiling of the passage spanning thirty meters. That's also unusually fast. No matter how good the scouts are at trap detection, I wouldn't have expected such a huge trap.

Maria and Flynn, who heard the roar, couldn't help but wonder what had happened to Gil. And fate that would await us.

"The rest... the three of us"
