DXD: Hard To Kill

"I have lived through wars and lived through tragedies that have taken the lives of my comrades." Said the old man as he puffed a bit of smoke from his pipe

"People have hailed me as the 'God of Shinobi'. Yet each day I can feel myself getting weaker, in the end I am only human." the third Hokage said bitterly

"The wrinkles on my face continue to plague me each day. And the main cause of it.... is this" he motioned his hand to present the ungodly stacks of paperwork on his desk

"Uh, so you want me to do something about your paperwork?" asked the silver eyed shinigami

"I have called you here for your wisdom. As a being who hails from the pure world, how can I defeat this abomination that has plagued every kage since the conception of shinobi!" exclaimed the old man as he mistook the shinigami as a deity summoned from the 'pure world'

Shiro just looked at the old man with a blank expression, closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"Very well" he said opening his eyes and speaking in a completely serious tone that set the old kage on edge. "Listen to my words very carefully." he continued making the elder lean forward from his chair.

"Shadow clones" He finished

The old man widened his eyes then slammed his palm on the side of his head

Coming back into his house, the protagonist fulfilled his quota for one request at least every week. He considered doing more but his will to do nothing all day won out in the end. He noticed Ophis was off doing her own business and neither of the nekoshou sisters were around. Which meant that he had the house all to himself for the day.

Reaching the fridge ready to grab a drink and then kick back on the couch and sleep with the t.v on in the background, he stopped as he thought he saw something that was a figment of his imagination. He would have ignored it, but the sound of tea being sipped forced him to turn his attention towards it.

There on his table, sat a man he had never met before. Consuming the tea he leaves in the fridge for whenever he needs to calm down. The man honestly didn't seem that old, perhaps in his 20s to 40s at most. His long black hair went past his neck and his red eyes were calm as he seemed content with continuing to drink his tea while the shinigami stared at him. He wore a black robe with a few accessories but the main thing that made it obvious that he wasn't human. Was his long pointed ears that reminded the shinigami of an elf.

"You are a hard man to find, despite knowing where you live. I apologize for the intrusion, but I am strapped for time so waiting here was my best bet at meeting you in person." The man said as he broke the silence

Shiro just waved it off like people breaking into his house unannounced was an everyday occurence "It's fine, honestly I'm getting used to this happening. But anyway how can I help you mister..?"

"Kokabiel, I was once known as the angel of the stars." the fallen finished for him as he unfolded his 10 black wings

The crimsonette raised an eyebrow at the fallen leader before him. Honestly he didn't seem as insane as he thought he would be as he tried to remember the anime. The man honestly seemed like a normal guy instead of a battle-hardened angel who slaughtered countless enemies in the old war.

"So, what did you want from me?" Shiro asked as he returned back on topic

"I wished to meet the miracle of humanity that I heard about. A child who should have been born a devil, yet his soul remained untainted by the corruption of devils." Kokabiel said with a smile as he seemed to look into the shinigami's soul

"Truly remarkable, humans never fail to amaze me to this day." he commented with a distant look as he gazed out into the backyard

"Uh, well you are definitely not what I expected from a guy who stole the excalibur fragments from the church to try and restart the war." the crimsonette commented

"We all have our own reasons for doing what we do. I am not surprised you are in the loop of what has been going on despite being absent most of the time. To be frank with you. Besides using the fragments to draw out the exorcists from the church, I simply truly despise those so called 'holy swords'. They were abominations that showed just how far the church had fallen that they dared to craft such a thing from the true holy sword that was the glory of humanity."

"You are correct I wished to restart the war and honestly I was just planning to sneak into the younger siblings of the maous homes and slit their throats there. The maous would not care who had done the deed as they look at the corpses of their loved ones with the blades of the 'holy swords' pierced through their corpses." the fallen elaborated

"And then war would have come, yet here you are in Kuoh with all the theatrics and flare. Seriously at this point I don't have a full grasp of your plan" Shiro admitted

the fallen lord of the stars let out a low chuckle, which then increased to genuine laughter as his body shook as the silver eyed shinigami was getting tired of all the seriousness

"Truthfully, my plans fell apart as I have come across some information that I overlooked" Kokabiel said as he finished his laughter

"You see, Shiro Aversis Gremory. I love humans." It was a statement without any hint of lie

"I promised father that I would look out for them, as humanity itself is essentially just like a younger sibling to me."

"But each day after father's passing, as Heaven's army stand by and do nothing for their own interests while humans continue to be corrupted and hunted by not just devils but many other beings of the supernatural. Heaven itself has forsaken them, deeming it to be a necessary sacrifice" Kokabiel's voice began to show more heat than before

"That traitor Michael sits atop that throne and masquerades himself as our father, It is a sin to pretend to be a god! He has become the very thing that we were supposed to protect humanity from! Exploiting their faith and good will. He lies and deceives them about the passing of our father all to protect Heaven! He has become no different than the devils themselves." he finished bitterly

"It was all so simple, once the second great war ended. All three factions would have wiped each other out or at the very least been reduced to a number that their existence itself would have been negligible. Humans would finally be free of the parasite known as the three factions."

"But I learned of another threat hiding behind the dark as they continue lie in wait for their chance to rise again." the fallen didn't need to finish as the protagonist already knew

"Chaos brigade" the shinigami finished for him

"Again I am not surprised by the information you seem to hold" Kokabiel commented

"Well you still haven't said why you are really here. It can't have been to just rant. Seriously all this serious crap is starting to hurt my head" the crimsonette said as he rubbed the side of his head

The fallen chuckled as he looked at the young man tired of his ranting

"Very well, I will cut to the chase. Shiro Aversis Gremory, I want you to kill me." he said solemnly

"Wait you're asking me to help you with suicide or something?" the shinigami asked

"I have seen many souls of humanity in my lifetime. But none shine as bright as yours. If it's you, I believe you can safeguard humanity from the dangers that wait in the future" Kokabiel explained making zero sense to the shinigami

"Kokabiel, let me tell you. I was going to show up and mess around like usual. I just got a new disguise at the party shop ready to wear as I play my instrument ruining the tension of whatever moment people have. I had a giant frozen fish ready to use to smack you around when you showed up." Shiro admitted to the fallen of his plans

"I really hate how likeable you are. I hate taking things so seriously, but for you" the Shinigami looked directly into Kokabiel's eyes as they began to glow crimson light

"I think I can make an exception"

"I Shiro Aversis Gremory. Promise you Kokabiel. I will kill you"

The old fallen smiled as he left the house of the one who would bring his death
