Chapter 16 - The Dark I Knew Was You

I see the dark night,

And I see you.

Verily, you both are the same.

Even though there are no stars upon you.

Jungkook's P.O.V-

'Hyung! What did you just do!!!' I whimpered in bitter-most shock, getting more irritated when I saw him completely cool about what his own deed, 'His work was very much important for our task.'

'Relax, Jungkook.' He said phlegmatically, rubbing his drenched sleeve stained in blood with his thumb.

'Relax! How am I supposed to relax now? How will we be able to get our work done when you just killed the man?' My eyes reddened even though I didn't want them to, 'What will Namjoon hyung say? It was so irresponsible of you.'

'I told you to stop panicking. I don't act without thinking before. You know that well. Now give me a hand.' He proceeded towards the body.

A bunch of small bags of white powder, some pills and a small bottle of liquor came out of the pockets along with a few bucks.

'Leave those. We found what we required.' Hyung took out a few wrinkled papers from the inside pocket. Taking a glimpse of them, he made a tsk in satisfaction. 'Nice, we can definitely make a use of these for our work.'

'Hyung, how did you-'

'Aish, you haven't grown up yet, Jungkook-ah. You see, he was just playing hard to get.'

'But hyung,' I stared down blankly at the body, 'you didn't…really need to kill him.'

'This maknae...' he gently ruffled my hair, 'Get over it already. This guy was getting on my nerves. I couldn't tolerate him anymore. That's why I had to do it.' 'Chincha?' my eyes widened, trying hard to believe the simplest and ridiculous fact the older just stated.

'Kookie...' He sighed, 'Do I really have to explain the whole thing? It was indispensable to kill him. He would have remained as a prime witness. After we carry out the task, you don't expect his men to just sit down without attempting to find out the culprits. Of course, they will desperately try to find us. Then the first person they will get to will be this man's buddy as he is in the charge of security in there. He will spill out this man's name somehow and then him us undergoing their fatal thrashes. Now you tell me, did I do anything wrong?' Finishing his paragraph, he stared at me tilting his head.

I couldn't deny his logic. Yes, he was actually right.

'Does that mean you actually made the plan of killing him from the very first? That's the reason you insisted to come by yourself? Why didn't you tell us before then?'

There was no reply from his side else for silence. Despite, I knew the answer already. He just liked to do things on his own.

'What to do with the body now?' I asked changing the course.

'Screw it. Let's just leave it around here somewhere.' he ignorantly stuffed everything back in the pockets.

'Let's go, anybody can come by any moment...' Taking care of the body with the utmost caution, both of us hurried our way out to the van. Hyung kept silent on the way, yet I could feel his smirk flashing through the darkness.

I just walked by his side not intending to leave any comment. Time has passed, by now, I had become blasé with his work, everyone had. I still now wondered how easily he could kill people without letting his thumb even flinch for an inch, just like the way his heart would remain so stern and neutral. He was clearly defined in these tasks than all of us.

One day, I will definitely attain prowess like him.

Y/N's P.O.V-

I stopped the bike partially behind a pole and put off the helmet, locking my eyes on the most wanted structure standing at a distance. Though it was not lighted enough around, the clump of the van was clearly visible, almost sparkling in the darkness despite its body being pitch black. The smile of victory was on its stand, arriving with flames on my lips, for the accomplishment. See, you can't escape from me, the Y/N it is...

The vehicle was standing still at the commencement of a narrow alley. Dragging the bike backward more, I tiptoed towards its standing place. From the distance, I was unable to understand if the van had people in it or not. Its motionless silent structure with headlights off along with no sound of the engine was making it more difficult to understand.

Probably to answer the aroused question inside my mind, sooner the black glass went down and a head popped out. Making guess was hard yet I could assume that, it was Namjoon.

He looked following the alley's direction and yelled, 'What is taking them so long? It was just a give and take deal. Still, they are delaying.' His voice came out sharper due to the quiet situation of the region, enabling me to hear him clearly. In his voice, there were clear drops of anxiety and impatience, working to fill up an ocean.

Jin's voice came following his one, 'Namjoon-ah, just calm down and sit peacefully. You're getting too worried.' 'No I am not,' Namjoon spoke, 'I don't think guys like him would be total straight. He may change his course anytime.'

'You doubt Yoongi's ability to handle things?' 'Hey, there they are!' Taehyung exclaimed popping his head out beside Namjoon.

I heard some quick footsteps. The door of the van slid open and two figures jumped into the car before I could catch a proper glimpse for identification.

'Got the thing? Did the man make any problem?' 'Not much, neither will he, anymore,' Yoongi replied.

'Huh-?' 'I will explain on the way. Now let's leave the spot fast. I really wanna go back dorm now.'

'Fine.' The van started the engine and swished away in the speed of light soon gaining acceleration. The figure slowly decreasing to the size of a barely noticeable atom and at last out of the sight, I stood out of the hiding position. They were really going back to the dorm this time, so I didn't really have to follow them. Instead, my eyes focused on the alley. Thousands of questions arose in my head, being unable to patch a theory.

What was that give and take deal Namjoon was talking about? Who was that him? What was the purpose of the members meeting him? Why did they have to meet up in a place secluded like this? Was it so secret? Why was it so secret?

What were they really up to???

I jerked my head keeping all the questions at a side at one place. Slowly, I walked myself into the quiet alley while my eyes kept scanning around the whole arena. The first thing that caught my eyes was- two pairs of footprints.

Not that they were clear enough, or at all. It was hard to trace them in the mud as the prints were messed up for the come and go yet, pretty enough to be followed. Must be of those two members- a faint smile crept across my lips. I just followed them till a near point after which the prints got all messed up, unable to take me further. I grazed my eyes all around for a while. For some unknown reason, a slight shiver sparked, traveling down through my spine.

The alley was dark, in a scary way. The atmosphere prevailing in there was able to create a mysterious cover for itself. I stood beside an electric pole. No one, not even any nocturnal beings were cooing to fill up the vacant space of silence kept for living beings. The unknown source of water drops was the ruler in this whole place. The unconscious state of my mind wasn't supporting the whole idea of remaining in the alley for longer. One part was telling me to go back, while the other protested being influenced being tied with the ropes of wild curiosity. And the strength of those ropes was stronger before the thin threads of the other.

Subconsciously fidgeting my fingers on the pole, I kept listening to the rhythm of slowly descending water drops. A part of my collar and sleeve was slowly getting wet. While, I was emerged in my own thoughts. I could go back in ease and report the field about the suspicious activities of the members without further laboring myself. But my admittedly stubborn mind, it wouldn't move a bit from its place, neither let me control my own body either. Pursing my lips in discontentment, I rubbed my thumb on the wet sleeve. Just then, my eyebrows got c.o.c.ked themselves.

The light from the lampposts were not that much, but it was enough to see that the color of my white sleeve had darkened. Water can't darken the color, its transparent ability was never given the power to do so. I brought my hand closer to my eyes, immediately leaving me in a shock.

...Blood...

I looked in upward direction and flinched forward gulping down the scream that was about to come out of my mouth.

A man's body was skillfully positioned on the wider part of the sidewall tied with the torn electric wires hanging above to prevent it from departure, neither to get noticed easily within the usual eye level. His eyes were wide open along with the mouth, being stabbed with the cruelest method of death. The blood falling out the huge cut on his throat shaded his side, flowing down to almost creating an art piece of a fountain with the dirts prevailing on the white part of the wall. His face was deformed in a very ugly and unrecognizable state.

I was left in bewilderment for some moment until I finally got myself in control. My mind was in its clearest form of a bright sunny sky.

Yoongi: Not much, neither will he. Anymore.

It was their work.

Moreover, they were meeting with this him.

With precautionary hands, I brought the body down on the ground. The cut was deep and directly slit the trachea, causing the blockage of oxygen transport and severe blood loss. It was rough and done in a smooth line just one slit rather than several subdivisions, clearly showing off the skillfulness and knowledge regarding own work of the assault person, alongside his cruelty. The wide-open eyes in shock provided that he was totally unaware about the attack to be done upon him, also the arrival of death in such a femto of a second. I patted the whole body if I could find any proper identity.

Releasing a sigh, I brought out my phone and switched it on.

'A dead man in the alley.' I mentioned the address, 'Unable to find any identity. Yes, he is connected to them. Send someone quick. We highly need to know about him, and his identity.' As the other side answered in agreement, I disconnected and waited for the specific car to arrive with a corpse lying next to me.

A storm was going through my head. My mind filled up with disgust and anger. Forgetting about all the sweet and savory features of the boys I noticed till the early hour, I clenched my jaw with the rush of madness coagulating on the whole side. This bloody, frightful ghastly corpse before me was the one to bring me back to my real senses.

I don't know what BTS is up to, yet. But whatever it is, I am definitely going to ruin it.

Definitely.

Jungkook's P.O.V-

'You killed that guy?' Namjoon hyung's eyes widened the size of saucers along with others. Yoongi hyung kept quiet with a blank expression on his face and stared out the window emerged in his own who-knows thoughts.

'Not me. Hyung.' I pointed at the black haired guy. Namjoon hyung paused for a moment before speaking up again, 'I go with Suga. What he did was actually right. We couldn't leave any witness behind. Killing him was actually a better move. Did anyone see though? Was he all alone?'

'Yeah, he was. And no one was there to spare a glance. The alley was desolate.' 'Good that everything got done perfectly. I wanna see those plans.' I handed out the papers to him. Scrutinizing them, hyung gave off a satisfied expression, 'It's perfect. The dead man was at least efficient enough. We didn't come to the wrong guy.'

'What will be our next objective then?' Jimin asked. 'The preliminary part is done. Now we will just have to jot down our main task plan and reach our fish.' Jin laid back on his seat and released a sigh, 'Ugh, it's so tiresome! How long will it take to reach the dorm? We didn't get to rest for a moment after the whole day practice.'

'We haven't even crossed quarter distance yet, hyung. Don't pass out already.' Hoseok laughed at the oldest.

'Suga hyung,' turning back at the older who remained silent the whole time, Taehyung asked with concern, 'Why are you so silent right now? Yeah, you always remain like that, but I don't know why, this time you seem a bit troubled. Are you worried about something?'

There was a formation of slow wrinkles on the male's forehead. 'Nah Tae, it's just… Namjoon!' He turned at the leader, 'Can we go back to the alley? I don't know why but my mind is cooing on something bad, hitting on a misgiving. It's so perturbing. I won't be able to get rid of it until I clear it off.'

'Why Suga?' Namjoon hyung twitched his eyebrow, 'What is it? Did you leave any of your stuff back in there?'

'Just turn around.' He sounded more like ordering now. The van took his command and turned back to start running to the place again. All of us remained silent in the car. None could understand what Suga hyung was up to, but the way he was acting inserted an unnamed tension in all of our minds.

'Stop right there.' Hyung jumped out of the car and quickly paced into the alley. Few minutes passed by before he silently came back and got into the car. His expression had changed to a darker one.

'What is it?' all of us asked together.

'Start the car.' was all that he said. After the van started running again, Namjoon asked trying to not reveal the uttermost impatience in his calm state. 'Suga, can you please, kindly, tell us what is going on? We are not even getting a hint about the way you're acting. We need to know what. It. is.'

'The body,' Hyung finally decided to speak, 'The place where we kept it-'

'Yeah, what happened?'

'It's gone.'

'Wha-? How can-'

'Dunno. But not a sign of it anywhere.
